The relationship between the toddler and the teenager - priceless. Crusoe is not afraid of much and willing to try anything. I hope he keeps that up throughout his life, it will serve him well.
My eldest daughter is the same age and it's magical. My son is 7 and has so many lovely teenagers in his life through his 3 teenage siblings. We feel he's very very lucky

The highlight to me was Crusoe's filming and his excitement while catching the fishes....surreal, that's what childhood is all about innocent pure and real and I must say he is daam cute child....My love for him❤

...also a great documentation of Crusoe...climbing up a ladder, shaking beans on the roof, picking apples, fishing with dad, counting to 10, running barefoot over wood and stone, learning portuguise, filming dad, ... and communicating all the time with mom, Joaõ or dad...fishes and all creatures, he loves!

Crusue is such a great helper, he doesn't get bored he's there all the way through. Impressive little man.
Tara, you are braver than I. I could not even watch as Cruso walked near the edges and backwards on the roof. I think I share John's fear of heights. Knowing that little ones are sometimes unsteady on their feet and unaware of their surroundings, I couldn't watch.
I totally agree. Very uncomfortable watching Crusoe on the roof.

Same hers also he never has shoes on with all the sharp equipment John uses plus nails etc building the outside kitchen ,it scares me to death thinking he might tread on one , it doesn't bare thinking about 😢
Tara, we were so impressed with your dried bean harvest. We love cooking with dried beans. We have learned that it is best to soak beans overnight and rinse them at least three times to avoid the gaseous nature that beans can have. 😊
That’s a great tip to remember! I avoid beans for their gaseous nature they have on me lol 😂
We soak beans overnight, toss the water and use the herb Culantro (Eryngium foetidum Linn.) to cook with beans so they don't give us gas. It's not the same plant as cilantro.
It melted my heart to hear Crusoe thinks Joel is his cousin, and Joel is such a lovely young man, good to see you did not edit out Crusoe's filming. next time get him to do a talk to camera, it will be a real hoot

Crusoe features so prominently in your videos and we absolutely love it. What a gorgeous, bright and intelligent little boy and not even 3 years old yet. Great video guys 🤗❤
Here is one recipe you might consider trying. 😊 Soak them overnight in cold water The next day boil them, just to soften not to be totally cooked. chop three large onions finely and peel and chop a couple of carrots and put half a cup of olive oil in a medium sized pan fry onions, and carrots until they soften then add one or two tablespoons of tomato paste add two sugar cubes, put the pre-cooked beans on top of the onions and carrots softened in tomato paste and put hot water over it enough to cover it. Then let cook until beens are nice so soft. Let cool and leave in the fridge overnight because it’s best in taste after it sits in the fridge for one night and serve at room temperature and serve it with bread. It is a very favorite Turkish dish. Hope you enjoy it.

🐠This was a really sweet video, guys. I really loved the candid way that John kept the video running, not editing out anything. It was nice to see Joao again too. Such a wealth of knowledge from such a young man who I am sure was taught well by his father! I'll admit I was quite nervous when Crusoe was up there on the roof knowing how unpredictable toddlers are! ....Anyway, I have loads of good bean recipes, but our favorite is a very simple one. Soak 2 cups of beans overnight. Next day, rinse, and set aside. Chop one large onion, chop 2 carrots, two cloves of garlic, 1 tsp chili flakes (optional when kiddies are eating), 1 cup zucchini chopped, chop 1 cup sweet green/red peppers, salt and pepper, 1 tsp each of thyme, sage, rosemary, chopped. Saute in olive oil a large pan until softened. In a large bean pot, or slow cooker, add beans and sauteed veg. Cover with veg stock or water. Simmer on med-low heat for 2 hours. Add chopped tomatoes at the end (I add them last because the acid tends to make the beans tough if you add them too soon), simmer again for another 15 min's. Serve over brown rice. YUM!🍲

What an amazing childhood for those two little boys…. I absolutely love seeing them on the ground playing!!! So many of today’s children live inside on some device or other and have no idea where their food comes from, never mind how it grows. Well done to you both…

Well done for letting Crusoe do the exciting things you do. It’s obvious that you were watching him on the roof and he was safe. It’s sad that we no longer allow our children to do exciting things. I have been a Guider for many years and it was great seeing the girls come out of their comfort zone and try new things like rock climbing, abseiling. Canoeing and zip wires. Children need challenging, in a safe way of course and it helps them know that they can be challenged and grow in confidence.

Loved watching you sorting the dried beans. What a huge haul. You don't HAVE to soak them overnight, it just takes a lot longer to cook them if they're not presoaked. I was always told you have to boil them on full bubble for 10 minutes before simmering too. Was everyone else shouting "Don't lift that heavy well cover with THAT arm John!" Loved having more Crusoe Cam, he's becoming quite the little director, isn't he? So funny watching John and Crusoe trying to catch the cheeky fish. "Blast!" 😂😂🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠🐟🐠

Very fun video Crusoe is going to grow up so fast. He has his bigger friend Joal to learn from. Touching when Joal helped him and showed him how to shake out the beans. Crusoe so in charge off the catching off the fish, brilliant he even did camera/video work. I gave my children a similar childhood in spain. Nothing is easy in the heat. Amazing to harvest so many beans! Time for your own twist on a Portuguese feijoada - you could add sweet potato or seitan veggie protein instead of pork for a veggie version.
Lovely to see Crusoe's excitement searching for the fish. You're both giving your boys such an inspiring early childhood and a deep connection to nature and food. This foundation will sustain them all their lives.
PS. I had to fast forward past that whole roof section. I realise Crusoe was under your watchful eye the whole time, but it scared the life out of me. (Admittedly I also get vertigo if I even stand on a chair...)
Please... I would like you to do a Feijoada Portuguesa, but you don't eat meat...😬
And ours Feijoada takes a lot of meat and chouriços. Maybe " google it" 😂 and try to make one without meat.
