- Have you ever wondered how we prepare for surgery? There's lots going on before we get 'knife to skin'! In this video you can see what I do before we start to operate. At the heart of it all is the patient's safety and great teamwork.

Your most interesting video yet
Unbelievably save because of all those precautions
Glad you liked it Lee. I love being in theatre. We've got a fantastic team that's totally focussed on safety. Hope you are having a good weekend.
That's a fab video ! I stayed conscious for my hip replacement so I could hear everything that was going on :-). Good to be able to see what goes on as from my shoulders there was a sheet of blue partition and I was obviously facing the wrong way :-) Obviously a good thing ! Poor Anaesthetist had to chat to me the whole time . He probably was wishing he had sedated me :-) .
Thank you! If the anaesthetist had wanted not to chat, then you would have been sedated PDQ!
Thank you for your great videos.
Just is there any NHS update on Ceramic resurfacing.
Thanks
Paul
Thanks Paul. Still waiting.....as soon as I hear anything I will post a video about it.

Thank You very much ❤️
Thanks for your reply.
Also is there any chance you could make a video explaining why you would not do resurfacing. I have heard about age being a factor but is that just a correlation or are other facts taken into consideration ie lack of muscle balance, especially weak glutes. Are bones determined for density (Osteopenia) before the op or during. I was just asking because I have been Carnivore for two years and have seen many other health benefits. Ps, I have been Vegan, Vegetarian, Fruitarian, Juicearian and done many fasts for extended periods of time 🙏
Good idea. Thanks. The guidelines here say not to do it in anyone >55y, women and abnormal anatomy. All of these factors increase the risk of early failure. We assess the bone density and shape during surgery. If there’s any doubt we bale out and do hip replacement.
