Sash fillister plane - i had planned to build that plane for a long time. Today it is not a plan, it's a plane. Despite some mistakes or shortcomings i'm proud how it came out. I know that video is very long, but as always i couldn't show you less. At the end of the video i choose the winner of my last giveaway. Marking gauge from spalted wood have new owner :) Congrats! What mistakes or short comings. The plane came out beautiful and awesome looking as well as working great from what I saw. I would love it or any of your planes. Your are a hell of a craftsman.
You are nothing short of a genius my friend. Not ONE of your videos is too long. This is a lesson in Craft, and Beauty. You have given the wooden plane a new definition. God bless.
Godammit that is one serious looking plane. That has to be the best YT video I’ve ever seen. Complicated, accurate, beautiful, even the wedge is a work of art. Love the sounds of you working, doesn’t need music and writing on the wood Master piece
Yeah you could fall asleep or better still, meditate to the sounds of the master at work. Try that with power tools! His wood notepad/chalk boards show how in the end written words are but floating wisps enroute to the floor. And James Bond may have sexy horns and bad ass guitar licks, but Stavros's finger snap kills!

I moved to Japan and don't have any of my electric tools. While i'm familiar with router planes and shoulder planes, that plane you're using to create the grooves is new to me. Very interesting. I'm mostly a power tool woodworker, so i always find your videos completely fascinating.
thanks I now finally understand what the sash fillister does, it now makes sense, I always wondered why you can't just use a standard rebate plane! now I know why, also really beautiful build, I look forward to more videos and am glad I subscribed.
Honestly, it was too sped up for me. Would love to see whole version in full length. It is pleasure to watch someone so talented as you. The pear must have been joy to work with!
Mr. Gakos, I have watched your videos, l am 73 years old, started wood work as hobby when quiet young my question...is plane making your hobby what is your exact profession, hope you don't mind, l was just wondering while watching your excellent skill with hand tools. God bless you with good health and a happy peaceful life full of beautiful hand planes of all types that one can think off. We keep on copying them....ha ha...
Thank you Gakos for another great video. I’m new to your channel, joined about four or five days ago. I’ve watched every video you have put on your video list. I really enjoy them all. You asked in one video if you should do subtitles, I don’t think it’s needed. When you write on the wood is perfect for me. And from the comments most all feel the same way. The box wood you use in most of your videos sparked my interest, so I researched about it. To my amassment it’s the same one we have here in Texas. I’ll have to try working some one day. Just gotta find the time when my neighbor is gone to harvest some. And by the way happy belated birthday.
I like the vice router jig you made, I was playing with design idea like that, for making whetstones, just with an angle grinder instead of a router. you put some real nice workmanship into this plane and it looks like it works, exactly like it should! I love the sound it made when planing wood. clean and sharp!
Wreszcie fajny strug😉 Disstona wcześniej nie zauważyłem, nowy nabytek? Robota mistrzostwo i chyba na cotaz wyższym poziomie. Pięknie (kolejny raz tak piszę)😉
What a beautiful job you made of this. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I did wonder why you used a router jig to square the ends of the timber when a shooting board and plane would have been faster and cleaner? It probably made perfect sense in your case to cut a plane iron to make this but for those who also wish to do so it is possible to buy off the peg, plane iron blanks for moulding planes that one can grind or sharpen to one's own specification or design.
Very, very nice! I learned a lot. I bought one like that from ebay. An old one. I could not figure out how to use it properly. Thanks to You Sir, now I know 😊.
