Freaking Killing!!!! This is definitely one of my favorite rock bands of all time and I’m a big Rush fan, so those time signature changes are right down my alley! Thomas Pridgen is a straight up beast! He virtuosity on the drums is to be marveled at.......and I’m a professional drummer!
Thomas Pridgen's drumming on this song is one of the single most amazing drum pieces you can ever hear. He's basically a Michael Jordan/ Wayne Gretzky of drumming. There are other drummers who can do more complex things but I've never seen anyone who can match his physicality. It's off the chart.
He was very honest there, its a shame he stopped posting. Like I said he talked about how he didnt see himself as a great singer, talked about how his lyrics often dont make sense and he said they arent meant to make sense, and talked about how the band doesnt make much money and how they are always in "budget mode". Lots of bands dont talk about that stuff but he was very open about it.
the part about them not making a lot of money is nonsense. theyre millionaires. i actually sometimes don't realize how big this band is. They toured with RHCP, System of a Down and won a grammy, omar was on cover of Rolling Stone. Also have a huge fan following in south america and other parts of the world. Their peak in 2005 in google trends shows them above RHCP in popularity before stadium arcadium. For reference, in google trends, TMV was at least 10-100 times more popular than Ariel Pink, and their peak was 10 times more popular than Mac Demarco's peak. And if you set it to worldwide, it's not even close, TMV is 100 times more searched than either of those godfathers of indie rock. It kinda blows my mind
@@morrisalanisette9067popularity is one thing, getting fucked over on the percentages of residual revenues and any form of money thru contracts via the label is an entirely different beast. idk dude i wouldn’t just assume til you see their bank statements or know what it’s like to work in the music industry teehee
Omar’s a fucking ass. He fired one of their keyboardists for taking notes on a song and then joked about it like it was nothing, and also just endlessly disrespected Jim Ward and ATDI. Watch their Nardwuar interview. He’s arrogant, and just wasn’t punched in the face quite enough growing up.

Pridgen was probably the most technical and talented drummer they had, but honestly the hardest for me to listen to. Just pure testosterone. Jon Theodore was always my favourite. Power and finesse. When I finally got to see them live it was when Blake was sitting in. Great player, dude earned his money that night. But, OG Theodore was THE MAN
@lifesglorydead Well, The Mars Volta are very King Crimson inspired. Especially The Bedlam in Goliath. Listen to the song "Goliath". It's not too different than King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man".
after they announced the comeback, I came to check some older videos for the nostalgia. the only thing that bothered me here was the completely LAME crowd on this show. come on, it's TMV playing fucking Wax Simulacra in front of you! I would be totally pumped up on first row, singing along while performing a ritual to curse the next generations of my enemies.
FACT!: This album's lyrics were all mostly written from a Ouija board game, a very old authentic evil ouija board... don't believe me? its mentioned on their interviews about making the album :)
lunarpower666. He used to post there a lot and answered questions from volta fans but I think he stopped after the new album came out so that whole comment section he had up is gone now. They were attacking him for the band going for more of a mainstream sound.
This shit (as in good) is so polyrhythmic that it should be the sound track for Dune 2020 representing the Freemen walking across the sand in a way that confuses Shai-Hulud... blessed be the Maker...
The guy on the Maracas is killing it.
I believe that's Marcel Rodriguez Lopez?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The man can play Wax Simulacra with maracas, what a legend.
THOMAS-FUCKIN-PRIDGEN!!!! MONSTER!!! And Cedric sings almost clean on this one! :D COOL!!! :D
Lol
He is singing with an harmonizer. That’s why
whoever mixed this set rocks. they gotta be one of the hardest bands to record live.
the mixing is fuckin mediocre at best, get your ears checked
That‘s because they always sounded like shit live. And I‘m a huge fan.
Man you couldn’t be more on point. I want names. lol
Thomas Pridgen is the most epic drummer of the 21st century. Unbelievable!!!!!! What an awesome fucking band!
The ending of this song should be nominated for "the best ending in history of any song".
RIP Ikey and only the best wishes for Juan. This will always be my favorite band

@sebaswildboy I Hope it's nothing serious
I think everyone knows he’s bad ass considering he used to play with paul Gilbert in racer x. He’s been a legend long before TMV bro
@@utubedestroysmytimechill out. Music snobs like you are the worst. He was just stating what was on his mind.
I love how at least half of the audience has no idea how to react to them
Huge fan of TMV, Pridgen's drumming on Bedlam is amazing as hell. Seeing them live in Providence was fucking outstanding.

BokuPower listen to kingston wall.
Thanks! I'll check it out.
He is extremely impressive. I agree he is in the "freak of nature" category in terms of physicality.
Let's not forget Zach hill
This guy plays out of his mind! Anyone recommend other bands that sound like the mars volta? Would really appreciate it
One of the most amazing bands ever!!!! A big what's up from El Paso Texas!!!!!
He was very honest there, its a shame he stopped posting. I heard this song once shopping at best buy on the PA.
Isaiah Ikey Owens. Psychedelic keyboard 0:33
I appreciate the work of this guy too much.
RIP
any fan of the mars volta is a friend of mine, definitely great human beings.
I love how clearly you can hear Ikey in these performances. Clearer than some of the albums.
For me this era was the best of their career!
Thomas Pridgen of course, but this song is also so damn good, I am consistently blown away by this every time I listen to it.
It's blazing the whole way
Juan Alderete is the most underrated member of this band.. they would be nowhere without him or someone of his caliber.
+Max DC Bullshit, he's nowhere near to underrated. He plays with top bands beside the volta like Deltron 3030, and Omar's side projects.
Take the bass and drums out of Volta and it all falls apart completely.
especially the bass
You're right, it's the best.
Juan is top notch.
That keyboardist is definitely feeling the groove!!!
pridgen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is all
F****** A RIGHT my friend!
I don’t remember this episode of it’s always sunny where Dennis plays bass for the Volta. Must’ve missed this one.
The gang starts a prog rock band.
He is dealing to try with another mid-life crisis, peaking once again in a prog rock band
Seen the Band in 2006 opening for the Peppers been a fan since ................great show
that intro though... Pridgen is spectacular
SPECTACULAR(LY BAD AT KEEPING TEMPO)?
Why yes, sir. Yes he is.
Keith Moon couldn't keep tempo either. Drumming isn't only about timing. Besides, these guys were always messy live.
omg omg omg the drummer O.O
it's not the drummer, is Sir Thomas Pridgen.
RIP Ikey.
I love these guys
Guys, you are geniuses. Thank you so much.

If you think that this is like hearing three songs played at the same time, you've never heard TMV
Whammy, Pridgen in absolute top notch form
Pridgen was probably the most technical and talented drummer they had, but honestly the hardest for me to listen to. Just pure testosterone. Jon Theodore was always my favourite. Power and finesse. When I finally got to see them live it was when Blake was sitting in. Great player, dude earned his money that night. But, OG Theodore was THE MAN
I actually find it an amazing experience watching Thomas Pridgen play. Brings me great joy! 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🙆♂️

Thomas Pridgen, no words to describe.
Still miss my man Thomas with TMV 🔥
still love your work!!
Peak tmv, Thomas’ energy brought something out of those guys.
I love you so fucking much! This is powerful artistic expression right here! I hope you are all in love with life and doing what you want.
ive decided not to purchase a nissan based off of how poorly pridgens drums were mixed in this
LOL
any car company that can’t mix drums is surely makes bad cars as well!
🎉🎉🎉 lmao
Literally the whole band's mix was off 😂
They have to drop it some in the mix to keep people's faces intact.
A little RUSH influence ! ❤️ nice
Lo que toca Juan, lo que toca Thomas, mamita linda...!!
Bedlam is the best album I know of for all bands
Thomas Pridgen... what a fucking beast.
God I love this band
Those drums!!! Wow!!!
Esto es lo que mandamos desde México con amor.
barbaro el baterista, Thomas Pridgen...!
MI BANDERA DE MÉXICO, AHÍ EN ALTA!!!!
honestly one of my favorite songs to get baked to
You are one fast baker
la mejor banda del mundo es latina! the mars volta!!!!
in the last notes of the song you can clearly see prigens turn from human to pure light
WHAT A JAM all them cats are top shelf
"Blink at the lonely guys" in the captions LOOOL

Todo una droga auditiva esta melodía...
Best band ever.
:( Miss you guys so much... You guys straight up made the most unique music iv ever heard.
They’re back
So much great noise wedged into those two and a half minutes.
drummer MVP
100%
so wild and so good
cant wait for the new album X)
Sameee, so excited to hear The Mars Volta again!
I kind of agree with you,hes awesome, but his voice is very nasally but I mean as a front man he has tons of energy and great stage presence
the horns were amazing
@AckAttack77 I am honored haha ;) This band is genius!

My ex used to write me really cryptic and poetic love letters... And I just used Mars Volta lyrics in my love letters back to him 🤣
My goodness!! ❤
I still jam bedlam weekly
I find myself thinking it’s their best next to amputechture
How many different songs are being played at once in this?
Just one Grammy winner.
Everyone that voted must have been high, also.
At once and at the same time! Very talented band but a little enjoyable!
Ikey's organ sounds great here
4 Shows vivo Rio 2023 Brasil.
awesome...
Bestias
(Upbeat Rock Music)
wonderful
este tema esta buenisimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why Cedric, did you let Thomas go out of the band!
Me encanta este tanta
Id love to see these guys in person. All the live clips sound quite bad but i have a feeling they don't do the band justice.
If i was there, i would be fucking jumping everywhere. This crowd is not nearly as excited as they should be
YAHOOO.....OOOO!
Haha, funny Yahoo bit at the end aside, that was an amazing performance! :D
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucking hell.
¿En qué debes estar conectado para disfrutar ésto?
Wow. That long ass fill at 1:30 is sick. Well, the sticking was fucking sick.
i love how everyone is like trippin out a bit
🐐
@AckAttack77 haha, if i meet someone and they are into the mars volta, we get along perfectly almost instantly.
Come here music festivals 2023
Hardest working band in show business ladies and gentlemen

Best part of this was the yahoo in the end
Volve Omaaar Volveee
Dennis Reynolds on bass
Justin Ballew HELL YES

¡Está canción está con madre! :D
Qué buena banda
