A lot of praise to Messi and he undoubtedly 1000% deserves it but i think we should be giving the same praise to Scaloni - Argentina's manager.. He has taken this squad full of young talented players and won two finals back to back (Copa America & World Cup), it helps when you have the GOAT in the team also lol but the fact he had the confidence in players like Enzo Fernandez - Mac Allister - Julian Alvarez (all aged between 21-23) who are now World Cup winners and have a exciting future ahead of them. Made bold substitutes and changed tactics throughout the tournament. World Class manager right there!

Difference between Southgate and Scaloni. Scaloni had a plan. Di Maria on the left instead of the expected right hand side. Argentina constantly attacked up the left, and when they lost it up there, it meant they lost it on the side of the pitch where Mbappe wasn't present to hit them on the counter. Soon as Di Maria went off though their plan and left hand outlet was gone. Almost cost them.

Messi wasn't over the 120 minutes but he still made the big contribution when needed.
As for England, Kane sky's a penalty under pressure and some of our other big names didn't turn up. I still argue Sterling was a bad choice for the France game, should have given a chance to Maddison and Wilson.

Depends how old you are and whether you buy into the media hype. I'm old and don't. For me, it was 80 minutes of non-event because France didn't turn up until they beefed up the midfield. I I've seen much better games in terms of all out attacking football. I always rate West Germany against Czechoslovakia in the 1976 Euros as the best international final I've ever seen.
