One thing that I love about Scaloni is that he was able to get the best out of Messi without over relying on him. One of the commentators for the match here in Argentina said at the end of the game "Previously, Argentina was Messi + 10. Now, we are 10 + Messi" and I couldn't agree more with that
Scaloni wasn’t the first to try to make a team not of superstars but just the best most flexible team independent of the stardom. But he was the first one where it really worked.
Right on there with Gordon Banks' save against Pelé and Brazil in 1970, but even more incredible since it was a Final and Argentina were the champions.
That goal keeper is part of the reason they won both copa America and World Cup, coz in their semifinals against Columbia when it went to penalty’s, the goal keeper blocked 3.
In Argentina we have a running joke (Or maybe even a curse) that we always need “To suffer” before we win. Not only did we lose our first match, we also had a rocky game against Mexico, A last minute save by Dibu against Australia that would’ve otherwise lead to a tie, And two torturous matches against Netherlands and France in which we started out dominating but had the tables turned in the last few minutes leading us to trying our luck in penalties. The only game where we had room to breathe was with Croatia. The players explained how they felt like they treated every match like a final due to the amount of pressure. But in the end, all the difficulties they endured made it all the more satisfying when they won. It really did feel like a movie from a fan’s perspective.
As a brazilian I feel I need to point out: Most people I know that are into football were rooting for this argentine side after Brazil were knocked out. Some don't, because of the rivalry, of course, but most people who likes football (me, my brother, my friends) were all rooting for Messi, people popped out fucking fireworks at the final whistle, it was really cool to see. Would the argentinians do the same for us? Don't know, don't care. Messi deserved it, football deserved it.
I am an Argentinian living in Italy. The day of the final, thousands of Argentinians residing in Italy went to Naples (Diego Maradona’s spiritual home) to watch the final together. It was one of the most special days of my life. We took the whole city from the morning till the night. We sang and jumped together at Maradona’s sanctuary (yes, this is a real place of worship in Naples, they really really love Diego). When we became world champions, I cried and hugged with strangers. My legs and my throat still hurt, but the excitement and joy have barely gone down in almost three days. I’ve cried again every single day so far, just from remembering that epic moment. 🇦🇷❤️
That is seriously such a beautiful story! I would have loved to be in Buenos Aires or there in Naples for the final because one thing that I can say about Argentinians is that you are never really among strangers. I lived in Buenos Aires as a small girl in the 90s - we arrived in 1990 and it was Argentina that made me fall in love with fútbol and with your people/culture. It didn't take long for me to feel myself as an adopted "Argentina". I even cry thinking of it. Italy World Cup with that iconic team - the subsequent heartbreak I felt - since that day I have been waiting, suffering, and crying for this moment. To see Argentina win with the GOAT Messi was the best day of my life! I am so honored to have been alive to see the greatness of Messi. Felicidades Argentina! Amor desde México.
@@thongnguyen-ye9hk Vietnam also has a loved-by-everyone who know him, though it's not so well Known as Diego and Messi, Thich Nhat Hanh. Namo Buddhaya, Namo Dharmaya, Namo Sanghaya.
Only cried twice in my life for sport. And both times it was Messi lifting a trophy with Argentina. I will never ask anything from life again. My life is complete.
I was born in 1993, this is by far the most enjoyable World Cup I've had the pleasure to watch, and not only because we finally won. So many crazy games, so many epic and dramatic moments for the ages. And as for having won it, it's like a fairly tale. To see Messi finally lifting the trophy and the burden given to him, just for the sole reason of being a genius, it's an undescribable sensation.
lol there were better but yes you are very young... 1986 makes this one look like forced... and really makes it look rigged but this is for the future investigative journalists out there
I was lucky to see Germany win it when i was a child against Argentina. So now I supported messi in the world cup final against France(despite being half french and german, i support Germany mainly)
I was born in 1975. So first cup I really followed was 1982, and I can say exactly the same. In fact, I really find it difficult to ever surpass this. Not only in level, amazement, and epicness, but more relevantly, in consensus. Almost everybody wanted it that way. Which is truly unheard.
the debate never started really only in your generation it did... diego armando maradona is the absolute best player to ever walk the pitch.. no one comes close.. he was simply not of his world... now if you ask leo.. and if you have a chance do ask him... you will hear exactly word by word what i just wrote here
Messi getting his World Cup is the most deserved thing. Many people say he was lucky that they beat Australia after almost conceding in the 90+7 minute. That they were lucky to get away with giving away a 2 goal lead vs Holland and winning on pens and then doing the same vs France. It wasn’t luck that they won 2 PK shout outs in a row, only missing 1 spotkick along the way. To win the cup you have to a bit luck and a lot of skill and that’s what happened
There was never even a debate tbh. Anyone with eyes can see that Messi is clear but we have to give Ronaldo his flowers for winning everything he won in the same era as Messi. We're truly blessed to have witnessed both of them at the same time.
there was never debate diego armando maradona was not of this world.... pele was the debate and he comes second messi and ronaldo do come in the top 10 but the bottom of the list.. messi is ahead of ronaldo and does win that competition this i agree with my friend
@@michelleper5065 Messi is at the bottom of the top 10?? Like I understand if people choose Pele or Maradona as their number one. But there is absolutely ZERO debate Messi is sitting at the table with Pele and Maradona. To me, Messi is the greatest player I have ever seen in my 31 years of living. With everything Messi has accomplished it is crazy to sit and say Messi is at the bottom of the top ten..
@@ikrampicaso920 the don should never be said in one sentence with messi.. messi is just not at that level... regarding pele he is much better than messi and so is zidane and few others... but diego armando maradona is so much better that comparison is a waste of time ... just watch diego and you will quickly realize that he was not of this world... you are too young
Thanks you man, I’m Argentinian and the last 2 days I’ve only been watching videos Leo and my country. The anxiety I had during the match, I was shaking, crying, it’s was horrible and beautiful at the same time. In Buenos Aires 2 out of 3 million people went on streets to celebrate and collapsed the city and public transport in a tsunami of happiness. A few hours ago, the national team arrived to Argentina and they tried to do a parade but at the 10% of the programmed journey it was suspended due to the insane amount of people that attended it. Thank you so much for your words about Leo and my country, and thank you to all the supporters this country had along the way. Vamos Argentina!!! 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷❤️
its insane here someone jumped on the bus from a bridge, another one tried and hit the street and kept celebrating being pulled on a stretcher. in short they cancelled the bus tour because of that but it is what it is
People were disrespecting Argentina just because we stumbled on the opener, we went unbeaten for 41/42 matches in the last 3 years, had beaten Brazil, had dismantled the Euros champio and had showed time and time again that we had the biggest balls in world football. This was inevitable
@@MikoyanGurevichMiG21 after the game against Mexico, it was pretty clear who was going to win, but FIFA also had to make sure it wasn’t obvious it was already fixed for Messi
This guy literally completed football. There is no major team trophy (club and country) and individual award that he doesn’t have (most of which in multiples). And on top of that he’s got over 1000 goals+assists in his professional career. And he’s not done yet…
Honestly watching this world cup final as a neutral spectator was one hell of a story, given the surrounding context. It was a battle between the GOAT of an era at its end, versus the up and coming challenger GOAT of the new era. And the old guy postponed the incoming dominance of the new kid on the block for just a little longer. Set the bar for all of them just a little bit higher. And personally I think that's a good outcome for the future. The higher the bar of the All Time Greatest, the more inspired the next generation will be to triumph over it anyway some day.
It feels like its impossible to find words to describe Messi's performance in this WC. He has completed football, settled the GOAT debate for years to come, shook up the world and cemented his legacy.
I am a Ronaldo fan but not a delusional fanboy 😂 and not afraid to admit Messi is definitely the goat for this amazing feat and carrying his team on his back to win the world cup 🫡
Ronaldo is as close a normal human could get to being the best footballer. But Messi is just built different. It is as if Messi's born as a football god made flesh. The most complete player ever.
The 2022 World Cup was sheer outer chaos and insanity. So many upsets and shocks and the final is one to remember. Really glad to see an African team in a World Cup semi-final and Messi got the big one and shows that he is the GOAT. Well done to Argentina, they really pushed for this title.
Dedicated to the humble Europeans that always overlooked and minimised our football, players and fans. In the name of arguably, the greatest ever footballers in history PELE, DISTEFANO, MARADONA & MESSI all from SouthAmerica Vamos Argentina & LatinoAmerica carajo!!!
The fact that at the age of almost 36having only 45% capability of his peak,he showed a player of the tournament performance is unheard of!! LEO MESSI The Undisputed GOAT🐐✨
brother I‘ve been philosophing over this World Cup in the WC subreddit for days, even weeks now. It‘s just amazing, unbelievable and unique what we‘ve just witnessed. I quite frankly am so grateful and honoured to have witnessed the past almost 4 weeks of football in my lifetime. It‘s just mad. I want to thank you for the way you put this Video together. Fort the way you so beautifully said, what we all had on our minds regarding this once-in-a-lifetime tournament. You achieved what I was trying to do for days now - comprimising the unprecedented showcasing of the sheer beauty of the sport we all love into this video and doing it so wonderfully. Cheers mate & thanks your for this amazing video! Football Iconic is like Messi - he just never misses! ;)
Love re-watching these videos. It still makes me happy my athletico players got themselves a World Cup. As an American, it was also amazing seeing Almada, the star player of my local team Atlanta United get the win too.
Everyone kept underestimating them. Anything can happen, especially in tournament football. I had Argentina to go all the way from before the tournament started, I watched all their matches, felt like I was really Argentinian. I’ve always been a Messi fan and a fan of good football. This was the best world cup ever, the best world cup final ever, with the perfect ending. When Mbappe scored that volley I was genuinely scared, I still knew deep down that Argentina would win but that goal made time stop. But Messi showed his God abilities. 10 goal contributions, man of the match in every knockout game, everyone hates on the penalties but they were insanely high pressure pens and he made them look so easy. They beat the dutch defense, the croatian midfield, and the french attack. Gvardiol was widely considered the best defender at the tournament and Messi made a mockery of him. Football won with this victory. Messi is undeniably the GOAT. And with stars like Macallister, Enzo, and Julian Alvarez that really turned up and made so many fans fall in love with them, even Garnacho and Maxi Perrone now, the future looks great for Argentina. Would’ve loved for Mascherano to have been on this team, such an underrated player. And last but not least, it was great to see Di Maria win it as well, another underrated legend.
When Messi was 23 he was winning his 3rd ballon D'or. When Mbappe was 23 he was watching Messi win his 8th ballon d'or. No player will ever catch Messi now, those 8 ballon D'ors will never be equalled let alone bettered
People seem to forget that Argentina has 6 wins out of 7 penalty shootouts in the World Cup history. That's number #1 in history... of all teams. Thanks to Sergio Goycochea, Sergio Romero and now Emi Martinez, they always had great penalty shootout goalies. Besides 2006 when their penalty man Abbodanzieri was injured and Germany won. When the extra time was over you could see from Mbappe's face that deep down inside he KNEW they're going to lose. Not only Argentina have experienced regular penalty takers but also Emi Martinez who is best in that business. France had no chance. I knew it too.
You briefly touched upon him in this video but I’d love to see you dedicate an entire video to Didier Deschamps career as a player/manager! I think he’s hardly ever discussed despite his amazing track record!
The moves he made to effectively "restart" the Final really can't be underappreciated. The only risk was the removal of some particularly skilled ball placement artists in the event of the necessity of a penalty shoot out. Which, unfortunately for France, is exactly what happened.
Actually similar, Barca fans supporting every teams Madrid faces against, just like Brazil and Ronaldo fans supporting every team Argentina plays against. Each match was intense, both teams had to suffer just to win. A clutch goalkeeper saving the most important shots, a united team. lots of similarities.
@@mohdshahariar5833 I fell in love with both teams. Both had a world class star in the viewpoint who still played for the whole team and the team had a strong mentality. Truly 2 iconic squads
Hi, huge fan here. I am quite happy that you actually mentioned how the NDL basically bullied the Argentinian team in penalties. Most media decided to ignore that and chose to demonize us instead.
Thanks for the video, is nice to see someone from outside Argentina appreciating all that went into the WC win. It was something so extraordinary will never forget it and im glad people from other countries get to enjoy what our players did on the field as well. Amazing work, keep it up!
I got emotional watching this video. As an argentinian i still cannot explain the feeling i had watching Messi receiving the cup. It's an image that definitely will stay forever in my mind. And all Argentina's journey was almost like watching a tv series tbh, i still can't believe it. Thank you so much for the video and all the research!
@@martinrosario4018 63rd minute. Mbappe beat Molina and Romero on the right hand side, and played a give and go in on goal, as soon as Di Maria stepped off the pitch. He then combined with Thuram for a corner kick opportunity in the 67th minute. He finally recorded France's first shot in the 70th minute. Let's not rewrite history
This world cup truly will be one to remembered. From the upsets, to the underdogs giving big teams a run for their money, to heart stopping comebacks, off the field jokes, records breaking, close calls and heartbreaks. Qatar 2022 World Cup, in my personal opinion was just G.O.A.T.E.D. People criticize it because of political reasons and alcohol ban but from the first game to the last its just been wonderful.
Having the World Cup in winter was surreal. Especially if you are in school. Everyone was secretly watching and the cheers that went up around the school as teams scored was unforgettable.
I can truly say I am beyond proud, ecstatic and euphoric I've been able to witness my hero conquer the world. It's sad to admit but retirement is now closer than ever, but I don't want to ask for any more football from Messi, he has already gifted me so many amazing memories. He can now retire in peace, and I can watch the sun rise to a grateful universe, I was able to witness the GOAT.
As usual, wonderful content. I totally agree with every single bit of this video. After 30+ years of being a football fan/player/manager/referee/league director, I truly think you’re one of the most objective football related content creators out there. Keep it up, Tinashe!
at least tell them the truth about diego and that messi nor anyone else even come close... tell them that... because you KNOW it to be truth.. even if you dont say it to save face you know since you have 30 years on you of being fan that means you were seeing diego in the 80s as kid... you know he was not of this world and much but much better than anyone else in history... messi and ronaldo come bottom of the top 10.. tell this kids this so this generation gets little truth into the delusion of the now...
Great video. I didn't watch the final because I thought it would be too stressful - I couldn't bear the thought of Messi not lifting the cup. Pheww...justice for the sports greatest and most inspirational player at last !!
The man can have his flowers now. It was quite heartbreaking that he did everything, won everything but that world cup was always elusive. I was like damn, the gods of world cup what else do you require of this man? Turns out what was missing to help get there, was the right coach, a resilient team and a solid goal keeper.
@@madness1812 in dribbling... in physical fitness at their peaks.. in strength at their peaks.. in free kicks.. have you ever watched the don free kicks? it is divine.. no one ever done such things.... the don's goals were much more beautiful... very artistic playing.. including the first hand ball in 1986... his run with the ball also more controlled than messi... he has much more control of the ball... now remember he did it all on very bad pitch and very ruff defenses in comparing with today and for much less money... he also was playing all over the field.. he played everywhere... he owned the pitch ... now it is not only messi that does not come close to the don... no one does... diego armando maradona was not of this world my friend... and this is the truth
Always a pleasure to see your analysis and how well and inform you treat southamerican football. It was a video I was expecting forr and loved it. And yes, Maradona can rest well now, as now the golden throne belongs to Messi. Just one more thing to say: Muchaaaachoooos, ahora nos volvimo' a ilusionar...
I joked that I wish Argentina and Mbappé could have co-win after his amazing performance. Scoring three (if we count the penalty shootout) penalties against the same goalkeeper in a match is really extraordinary. At the same time, the Argentinian team really played great football (Di Maria and Messi's second goals were beautiful and some of the best of the tournament). As Didier Deschamps said himself during half-time, Argentina came to play a World Cup Final. I'm a French supporter but I was rooting for both teams at the end of the game, and penalty shootouts are always cruel. I've just realized France lost the final each time they had to go all the way to penalties, and Argentina only won when they were wearing their classic Albiceleste shirt... France will never want to go to penalties again and Argentina will never want to play a final with another kit :P
I think the fact that France won the last WC made this one less of an necessity. Messi's last chance and Argentina's 36 year dry spell made it a big deal for ARG: in essence, France/Mbappe didn't NEED this win, Argentina/Messi sort of did. It would have been a devastating second WC final loss (3rd if you count 1990) for ARG/Messi, had we lost. I think we can all be a bit happy together that this monster of a player finally got his dues. It makes me really happy that we won in a way (mostly due to Messi tbf) where it was relatively easy to root for us. I hope we can learn from this as a country.
The debate should have never existed in the first place. It was a cringe attempt of ronaldo fans to underpreciate messi efforts. ronaldo only won in one category: Goals scored. That's it. Messi won 99.99% of everything. Why didnt he scored more goals? well because he's a team player and a 10, not a 9 like ronaldo. Also, ronaldo penaltys are 173. that's an insane amoutn while messi let his teammates takes the credit. Seriously, messi is and will be ever be the G O A T
This was the first football match I watched on my own accord... I didn't it expect it to be one of the best in history. I think I'll stick around and learn more

So many people saying the GOAT debate is over, but Messi winning the World Cup really doesn't change anything… Because Messi has been the GOAT since day 1
There were no actual debate. People who understand football can’t really say that Ronaldo is superior footballer than Messi. It’s not just about goals and assists (which Messi also provides). Messi is a playmaker on a totally different level, playing in the most difficult football era so far. There were no so many good teams during Pele, Maradona, Cruyff era. No one played at a such high level for a such long time. Brazilian Ronaldo or Ronaldinho peaked for a short time period, but Messi is playing so good for almost 16 years. Overall I think Ronaldo is a great goal scorer, but Messi is undoubtably the best footballer ever. I’m not Argentinian nor Barca fan. Just saying how it is. Mbappe has a potential, but he needs to change his club. Don’t forget that at 23 Messi already had two Ballon Dors.
Messi started in a big club Ronaldo didn't Ronaldo isn't as talented as messi ronaldo has better penalty success rate than messi. Messi played with better players than ronaldo did plus ronaldo changed after 2014 injury why can two just can say Ronaldo = messi
@@user-xj9os8vd6z better penalty success rate is hardly an argument lol, and Ronaldo played in United and Madrid. It’s not like he played in Aston Villa or Valencia for example. This “debate” makes no sense and needs to be stoped
There was a debate, don't diminish as it's a diservice either to Messi and Ronaldo. Messi is gifted with "mana from the gods" as some of the best players of all time are gifted such as Pelé and Maradona, who were insurmountable, undeniable. Messi was so good, he seemed aloof, disinterested, but out of sheer force of will, a very talented player in Ronaldo defied him, struggled against the obvious and made it seem that Messi was human again, he made the "chosen one" struggle, and through hardship Messi honed himself into a version we thought we'd never see: a passionate, hot blooded, proletarian argentinian star who's a World Champion. Messi would never be here without Ronaldo, he'd never fail as much as he did, he'd cruise and that would be it and Ronaldo would never strive for greatness so much without Messi.
Im having trouble saying Mbappe had an amazing performance, when he had 2 touches up until the 80th min. Yes he scored 3 goals in less than 30, but to say his performance is amazing, requires him to be at least involved for most of the game.
No, this shows his quality that when his team isn't playing well and hasn't received the ball enough, he still came alive in big moments when he was needed. He kept his nerve to score two penalties to become only the second ever player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
@@rohhhann All good points but Argentina conceding that penalty was completely unnecessary, it should have ended 3-2. It gave me 2018 flashbacks when it looked like they had hockeyplayers doing all the defending.
@@FootballIconic Agreed, he took his chances. One goal and two penalties. Regardless I still think he's the type of player that can create his own chances. If his team isnt playing well, track back and defend. Again, to be amazing, you gotta create your OWN chances. Great video though, Love the content
I went to the mall with my family to see the final cuz there was a bit screen and a lot of people, I'm not a very big football fan so i just wanted to watch an entertaining and exciting game, not just a 1-0 where nothing happens for 80 minutes, but what we got was something that was really priceless
I've always thought Messi had the edge over Cristiano Ronaldo. That doesn't change the fact that their rivalry was legendary and made their prime extremely entertaining. Messi further cemented his legend while CR7 tainted his own with his disrespectful behavior lately. I will still remember them as the greatest I've ever seen. Congratulations to Messi for winning the world cup. Congratulations to the entire team of Argentina.
A great ending to one of the most (if not THE most) decorated player on the world. Congratulations and vamos Messi and Argentina! Truly a dream ending for anyone if this was a movie!
This was the best game ever, highest level, final World Cup, Messi v Mbappe, comebacks, extra time, pens, Messi cemented his legacy as GOAT and finally wins World Cup in his last ever World Cup. Absolute perfection.
To me he has been The Undisputed GOAT for a decade. There is no one who plays the game the way he does. A prolific goalscorer, a genius playmaker and a Grandmaster in the art of dribbling at it's purest simplest form. He's like Yoda. And at 35 years old, he is still one of the best player to kick a ball. He may not have the tank to run around covering miles like he did in his teens and 20s. He doesn't need to play like that anymore but when he need to open those speed valves in him, he sure can (the 3rd goal against Croatia). I believe in this so strongly. We will never ever see someone like him again. This World Cup trophy for most is the final nail to end the GOAT debate. Which is understandable to me. But to me, it's just a poetic ending gift from Football itself to it's Messiah. Gracias Leo and enjoy it. You have gave us so much for so long. This one is for you. Millions in Argentina and Billions throughout the planet is celebrating with your name in mind. Lionel Andres Messi Cuccitini... GOAT? God? Alien? He's all of it.
I was waiting very anxiously for your video. I'm from Argentina and I love your channel. It is very accurate and you are a magnificent. goal hug! abrazo de gol!
This is the greatest football match that i ever witness, it had everything, domination and determination of one team, comeback, drama, absolute tension, great referee, historical moments, historical hattrick and clutch performances and moments from the two of the best itw and at the end we officially got a GOAT of this sport and a new all time great, if he wasn't already, im sorry Cristiano and Portugal fans, but if Portugal got in to the final it wouldnt be epic like we got on Sunday
For me Messi never needed to win a wc to be the GOAT. He was always the GOAT for me but it fills me with happiness to see Messi win the trophy which he desired so much.
Excellent video, beautifully narrated! Yeah, this has been epic WC! And when your national team goes into the semi's and ends up 3rd it is even more memorable. Watching your team or watching a game that you don't have emotional stake in is truly a night and day experience. The amount of stress that you live thought is crazy but if the game ends in victory the amount of adrenaline and joy that is released is just insane. And unity in the country that is in the air is just something that can't be reached in any other way except in the war if you are attacked by invading force. That's why scenes from Argentina after they won didn't surprise me at all. Although we finished 2nd in Russia and 3rd in Qatar it was still epic in the streets. Winning the WC would stop the country. Loss to Argentina in the semi's really hurt, cause after we beat Brazil there was a real possibility we might go all the way this time. But despite the questionable penalty that emotionally devastated us and killed our game, I still feel Argentina deserved to win. You could see that crazy determination, they really wanted it. It was destined that Messi will finally win that elusive WC trophy in his last try and even the might France with crazy Mbappe was not going to stop them. Yeah, Messi really completed football now, that's it, nothing more to say, he is the GOAT!
I am not saying Mbappe is not one of the best players in the world and one of the best talents, not also saying he did not have a great match, I am just saying his performance was so overrated. The guy did not appear till the last 10 min of the game and he scored a hat-trick, two of which are fricking penalties! For me Di Maria's performance was superior.
Agreed. People are overhyping the hell out of him at the moment. The game was incredible and you still have to slot those penalties but it's not like he's breaking down defenses for 67% of his goals. That's ignoring the fact that his second penalty shouldn't have been allowed because of a France handball that got the ball out to him.
Pele: never won major European trophy. Maradona:never won copa America. R9: never won champions league. Cr7: never won World Cup. Messi: won everything he could. Do I need to say more?
Messi what a player, he quite possibly has the greatest resume in football, and he might also be the best player, but that’s still up for debate. I’m happy for Messi he deserved that World Cup, I hope he thanked Martinez and Di Maria, cause Argentina would have gotten run over by Mbappe if it wasn’t for them.
That clutch save by Emi Martinez againts Kolo Muani in the last minute stills give me goosebumps after months He's truly a protector of Messi and Argentina's dream.
It's not Ronaldo's fault tho he's born Portugese and not Spanish or French ..... I feel halland will suffer from the same when his career will be compared to mbappe
@@snecs9609 except they have 5x our population and is infinitely bigger a country. Its not a goat debate its passport roulette and the fact messi has only JUST won it is more embarrassing than anything. Not to mention ronaldo won portugal its first ever trophy. Ronaldo still my goat
In my lifetime I have *never* seen an Argentine squad i would have considered bad. Their weakpoint was always the defense, but often they were suitable and the offensive was top notch. But from my perspective this is the first World Cup (since 06) where the Argentine tactics could NOT be summed up as "Get the ball, give it to Messi". They acted as a team. A team that exactly knew what an unbelievable asset they have in their pocket.
Hey argentino here! Thanks man, that video was really nice and comforting, so much buzz around the celebration and stuff that made us loose track of the important, and you made me remember them, thanks again
Beautiful essay. The second half was really good futbol but man, the heart can only take so much stress; it really really hit us Argentinians HARD I can only describe it as suddenly having a stone at the bottom of your stomach and moving and speaking becomes impossible. It's the hard times what makes the good times all the more enjoyable
To me Messi is untouchable as a footballer because sure there's other players who might score slightly more goals but everytime Messi steps on a pitch, he's usually the best scorer, he's the best passer AND he's the best playmaker, that's just unheard of, his entire career he's elevated those around him and I don't wanna hear no PSG bullshit, the amount of games I watched of Messi putting them on a plate for Mbappe and Mbappe NOT FINISHING should be criminal for someone of Mbappe's talent, overall with Barca, with Argentina and now in MLS, Messi's way of playing makes everyone around him better and that, on top of scoring as many goals as he does is what puts him atop above the rest.
Anyone who watched Peter Jackson’s LOTR can link Messi to Aragorn. Messi never strived for power, only recognition and a helper, very akin to Aragorn. But destiny would come to him and he had to take it, no matter what. And Messi showed the quality of a great leader, very much in common with Aragorn. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the Return of the King. And Messi had finally made name for himself, and was rightfully recognised. Is Messi an Aragorn of football? I think yes.
What completes the package is his personality. We can't know what he's really like but what he projects is a quiet guy that just gets on with it. No petulant 16 year old boy meltdowns like Ronaldo unfortunately suffered in the early days.

I expected to be sad after that Mexico disasterclass BUT oh my, what a tournament. Almost feels underwhelming that league football is coming back soon. How I'll miss the month long festival of football 🤩
The Netherlands and France games were almost similar. How could they possibly throw away the lead that way? Before the 2-1 France penalty goal Otamendi only had to kick the ball to the stands. What on earth was he thinking? He played a perfect tournament before that moment. They gifted two penalties to France and still won. Absolutely crazy.
That's...not the only thing people hate Mbappé for. He's extremely toxic and has a massive ego, not to mention the things he has said against others or the bad mouthing he devilered against South America. The fact that his own PSG teammates call him "spoiled" and "annoying", or that Neymar didn't want to train with him because he couldn't stand him says a lot about the guy. Yes, he's an amazing player, so was Maradona, but outside the field Diego was a trash human being. Thankfully Kylian is nowhere near close that level, but he needs to be humbled.
For those who still think Pele was the greatest: Pele ONLY played 1 full match in the 1962 world cup but he is still recognised as winning the world cup! Hardly an achievement if his team wins it for him! To be fair he should only have two WC to his name! Pele played in the best Brazilian team in history with players like Garrincha, Tostao, Vava, Zagallo, etc, so much so that they didn't even need Pele to win the tournament in 1962! He was only named the best player in one of the three World cups, in 1958 it was Didi and in 1962 it was Garrincha, it wasn't until 1970 that he was named the best in the tournament! Pele never won the Copa America! Pele never played in Europe! Pele never won an olympic gold medal! Pele only has two Libertadores to his name, despite his claims that the Brazilian league was the best in the world back then! Pele didn't win anything major internationally (Club or National team) between 1963 and 1970! Pele played in a time when football was semi-professional, majority of players had day jobs, training was not as regular or intense and the sport was still developing, imagine how easy was it to pass those defenders after they had been working hard labor all week! All the above is 100% verifiable! It is only naive Pele fans or Brazilians who still think he is the best in history!
Tbh, brazilians are allowed to have their bias in this case, even tho i agree with you. Whats most funny is how a certain fanbase has jumped from Lewandowski to Benzema, to Mbappe and now to Pele just to slander and downplay Messi.

That last minute Emi Martinez save is not being talked about enough
True! Kolo Muani's shot from a great position was absolutely perfect and he still managed to save it somehow.
Right on there with Gordon Banks' save against Pelé and Brazil in 1970, but even more incredible since it was a Final and Argentina were the champions.
it reminds me of casillas and robben… One on one, basically an open goal, and they keep their countries in the fight. Vamos Martinez!!🇦🇷🇦🇷

Every country and team fan has that feeling.

So many crazy games, so many epic and dramatic moments for the ages.
And as for having won it, it's like a fairly tale. To see Messi finally lifting the trophy and the burden given to him, just for the sole reason of being a genius, it's an undescribable sensation.

And a star-jump goalkeeper to save them from losing an unpredictable game last minute, that being the Argentinean goalkeeper.
Emi Martinez was also vital in the Copa America win.

He did score three withOUT the penalty shootout.
Emi Martínez almost saved 2 penalties from mbappe, he even touched the ball two times but mbappe shoot was so strong.
I'll never forget this tournament, it has been amazing. I'm glad that Messi has finally won the most prized trophy in sports history. Simply the GOAT.

@@BSZ76 he played for sporting and in mad he never players messi had be honest benzema and bale were not in the same level as Suarez and neymar
At 23 he won 4 ballon d'ors*
Im having trouble saying Mbappe had an amazing performance, when he had 2 touches up until the 80th min. Yes he scored 3 goals in less than 30, but to say his performance is amazing, requires him to be at least involved for most of the game.
That's fair, but he took his only chances excellently. Plus, Argentina's shape was too much for France's shape initially anyway.
@@FootballIconic you said it was the greatest individual performance in history, you are delusional. One nice goal and 2 penalties 🤣🤣🤣
@@FootballIconic Agreed, he took his chances. One goal and two penalties. Regardless I still think he's the type of player that can create his own chances. If his team isnt playing well, track back and defend. Again, to be amazing, you gotta create your OWN chances. Great video though, Love the content
Messi unlocked the platinum trophy for football IRL!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention how quality Cavaminga and Kolo Muani were, their energy and pressing changed the game and lead to the pen
The outro speech secured this video’s like from me… if there ever were any doubts
@A U Kolo Muani was brilliant , Dembele was terrible he had the worst 40 minutes ever 🤣🤣
@@cryptocsguy9282 I think he wanted Messi to win.
Mbappe gets all the credit, but those substitutes changed the game
The corner where Montiel got hand balled and Mbappe scored, France did handball first and the french player slided the ball towards Mbappe with hands.
Messi have always been the GOAT even before the world cup win.
PELE is the true GOAT
2014 really hurt but finally winning.........never been happier
Did you ever see PELE play?? I somehow don't think you did!
@@kennethelliot4152 Did you ?
Im a bilingual Argentinian and i have to say that this is pretty good!! Like it more than ESPN.
That clutch save by Emi Martinez againts Kolo Muani in the last minute stills give me goosebumps after months
He's truly a protector of Messi and Argentina's dream.
Sincerely, that Messi guy deserves a standing ovation from all football enjoyers 👏👏👏
I love how we can spam messi's holding world cup trophy to every cr7 fan boys crying post 😂
HAHAH TRUE, and then they will proceed to say "he can't do it in prem" 😂😂
It's not Ronaldo's fault tho he's born Portugese and not Spanish or French ..... I feel halland will suffer from the same when his career will be compared to mbappe
@@R.sh02 Messi is playing for Argentina, they aren't much better than Portugal.

Saludos desde Argentina, increìble video. Soñé toda la vida con éste momento.
Hey argentino here! Thanks man, that video was really nice and comforting, so much buzz around the celebration and stuff that made us loose track of the important, and you made me remember them, thanks again

Simple the greatest and most loved nd humble person as well..❤️
Future generations will be jealous we were able to watch Messi and Ronaldo throughout their prime.
Big congrats on 200k bro, you deserve it! 🙌🏾
A wonderful tribute. I will be so enamored with this tournament for the rest of my life

Beautiful video, man. Thank you.
What completes the package is his personality. We can't know what he's really like but what he projects is a quiet guy that just gets on with it. No petulant 16 year old boy meltdowns like Ronaldo unfortunately suffered in the early days.

This video is brilliant love your work Tinashe 🙌🏾
As a Real Madrid fan… Messi is magic
I’m just glad Mbappe is getting love and respect again since every hated him for the whole Real Madrid thing.
He’s well worth the money 💵
That's...not the only thing people hate Mbappé for. He's extremely toxic and has a massive ego, not to mention the things he has said against others or the bad mouthing he devilered against South America. The fact that his own PSG teammates call him "spoiled" and "annoying", or that Neymar didn't want to train with him because he couldn't stand him says a lot about the guy.
Yes, he's an amazing player, so was Maradona, but outside the field Diego was a trash human being. Thankfully Kylian is nowhere near close that level, but he needs to be humbled.
Only salty RM fans hated him.
That ending could make a grown man cry🥲
For those who still think Pele was the greatest:
Pele ONLY played 1 full match in the 1962 world cup but he is still recognised as winning the world cup!
PELE is definitely the true GOAT!
Tbh, brazilians are allowed to have their bias in this case, even tho i agree with you. Whats most funny is how a certain fanbase has jumped from Lewandowski to Benzema, to Mbappe and now to Pele just to slander and downplay Messi.
And the best of all is he is a humble man, he is lowkey... He is world famous but deep down he is still little Lio from Santa Fe ❤️
