- 11-2-14 track day at Spring Mountain Raceway. Fourth lap of the third session of the day, turn 3. Tires were gripping great, still don't know what caused the rear to just let go.
To answer your questions first, the tires were brand new Dunlop Q2's, they were plenty hot and very grippy, psi was at 29. I watched the video at least 10 times when I got home, because I thought maybe it was something I did and not the tires, it didn't make sense until I saw a professional track photo of me cornering, then it clicked. I made the mid pipe for my 2 bros exhaust and it stuck out just a tad too far. The pipe had been scraping and I had known this, but didn't think anything of it. I was getting more aggressive throughout the day and dragging knee, but in that corner I put enough weight on the exhaust that it caused the bike to pivot and take just enough grip off the rear tire. That's why the bike just slides out like it was on glass. Only damage was cosmetic and I finished out the day on the track, the exhaust has been fixed, but only after my stupid negligence.
"Fuck! Fuck!"
Well that sucks, but at least you know what caused it. And it sounds like it wasn't too expensive to remedy.
What tires were you running and what PSI? How many track days on said tires? At what point were you completely off the brakes? How much time between releasing the brakes and applying throttle?
oh so now that i check ur vids i see ur one of them hot head motrocycle dudes that gives the rest of us a bad name for flipping people off and cursing them out, old confused couples included. Forget i gave you advice, itd bounce off that rock you got anyways XD
Ok boomer
The fact that you didn't realize this is a closed course track is priceless.
@@zukoHD WOW... A real life Yoda! I love hearing from morons that think they know what they're talking about, but only end up looking foolish to those of us that don't just talk out our a$$ and actually DO. The low side was caused by my exhaust sticking out to far and taking pressure off my rear tire. I have 76k miles on this bike and 65k on my last, but please indulge me with your infinite wisdom lol.
