    I picked up a 06 with 236k km for a grand. Rockers were rusted right out so no one was interested. I loved welding and got it up and running in no time. Pulled all types of chevys, fords, pieces of dadge, you name it out of the snow all winter. Ridgeline is the best truck I've owned so far. Looking into Tacomas as my next rig but my ridgeline will be on the road until it's time to scrap. Great video, inspires me to get a video going myself as there are barely any on RUclips. Keep on ridgelining!

      Thanks for the comment. My Ridgeline is up to 220k now and I just got done replacing suspension bushings, front cv-axles and adjusting the valves, but it's still running strong. Getting it ready for camping season with our pull behind travel trailer. Please post if you do some good off roading and keep shocking the sceptics.

    Love how all the Ridgeline haters talk about how this truck can't go anywhere, can only do trails that their 1998 Corollas can do as well, aren't built to do such and such, etc. But yet you can find videos on RUclips of all kinds of automotive brands, drive systems, engines, tires, etc. getting stuck. If you are smart and know the capabilities of your vehicle, go have fun...jeebus man. Go have some enjoyment in your life, not bashing other people's rides for whatever reason.

      Just tired of all the haters. You wouldn't believe the places I've been in the Ridge, dunes, snow, nasty trails, mud and through rivers. I've pulled out more full-size trucks that you can shake a stick at, but haven't filmed them. From this point on I will be, because I'm tired of people having the misconception that this truck isn't capable. 160k & still going strong, thanks for your comment.

      +Roger Pinson My wife insisted I remove any reference to that specific product I intend to create for the Ridgeline , for fear of someone else building one first. I haven't seen anything like it all over the internet. Currently I'm living abroad, have been for almost exactly ten years now, we have our house up for sale & am gearing up to do the big move back to the states. I'm a 24+ yr Auto-technician....& looking to get back to work rather despirately...A Ridgeline would fit the bill exactly for a do-it-all type vehicle.....my father-in-law back in the states is a retired Welding instructor at the local Community College....I worked with him briefly at the College....I'm leaning towards 310 Stainless-Steel to fabricate this thing , contemplating thicknesses, & guesstimating weights & how much the vehicle can easily tolerate ...I'm debating several types of "jigs" that must be employed for fabrication. This product won't work at all on the more popular body on frame type construction of your typical truck, because of so much flexing & twisting... but it will work great on Unibodies.

    • @Nippledozer

      I guess, once one writes in here or any other public forum, words, ideas, "trends", tends to travel fast. Let us just say, the product I have in mind would render the guy in this video, peaceful & confident he wouldn't be able to wreck, hurt or otherwise damage his Ridgeline, no matter what terrain he drove over. Rocks, giant boulders, tree-stumps. It's just so simple....I'm genuinely surprised no one has created anything like this for the off-road driving public. The key is the usage of Unibody construction, it just won't work for the typical ladder frame built vehicles.

      @DARODOLO  7 лет назад +9

      MidWest Pyro you are really trying to compare the wheelbase of a wrangler, which is about the same as a mini, to a longer 4 door wheelbase...hmmm you really thought that out.

    • @franktrainor8330
      @franktrainor8330 7 лет назад +14

      Indeed it could, but the other 350 days a year when you're NOT off road and simply driving back and forth to work, etc, the Wrangler will punish you with an unnecessarily harsh ride and be less stable in unfavorable conditions on pavement where you cannot use a traditional 4WD system. This is where the Ridgeline shines.

    Hi Roger, I own a 2014 RTL, and I am thinking on buying the lift kit. About the tires, how do they perform on highways? Mine has the OEM Michelin HP (can't remember the exact model now) and the truck takes curves without problems driving at "considerable high speed". I remember my Nissan Frontier (truck before ridgeline) with all terrain tires, and I couldn't take curves the same speed I do with the ridgeline. Maybe its an issue of perception, but I think HP tires helps on that (makes the vehicle more stable on highways) than all terrain or off road tires. I appreciate your comments. Thanks for the video!

    • @DARODOLO
      @DARODOLO  7 лет назад +1

      US-NIC I started out with the Michelin tires like you have that came on the Ridgeline. I upgraded to the Yokohama Geolander a/t's and at the time they were one of the highest rated all terrains. Last year I got some Firestone Destination a/t's and so far I am extremely impressed. Initially I noticed a huge improvement in ride quality and even the cab being more quiet. I've noticed that they are even better in the snow, sand and dirt as well. As far as cornering, I've never had a problem with either tire on the Ridgeline and I have a heavy foot. the difference you were talking about may have been attributed to the Ridgeline having 4-wheel independent suspension and the nissan have a rear straight axle.

    • @DARODOLO
      @DARODOLO  4 года назад +1

      Honestly it does extremely well. I've had to 450's and my kids 100 in the back with our gear in the trunk. There are the down hooks from the factory and 3 indents in the bed up to the cab for the front wheels. Altitude has never been an issue even when I've towed, it obviously didn't have the same performance from lack of air, but there were no issues. Just turned over 227k and still going strong.

    • @DARODOLO
      @DARODOLO  4 года назад +1

      I took out the donut and found a used Ridgeline rim, which I mounted the best of the old tires when I replaced them. It fits perfectly in that spot that slides into the bed. As far as the styrofoam block that has the lug wrench and jack, that block fits perfectly on the little shelf to the right when you open the trunk. Any other items I need which include gloves, slime, flares, a compressor, jumper cables, tow rope shackles and first aid are in a plastic bin that fits perfectly under the single side of the rear bench.

    It's the biggest they make, because on the 4 wheel independent suspension. My camber is maxed out, any bigger and you'd have to have someone make aftermarket control arms and cv axles. I bought bigger tires after lifting it, but immediately went back to stock. They looked cool and lifted it another couple inches, but I could tell they would impede the off road capabilities. Sad thing is, I have 83 Jeep CJ-7 with a 4¼ inch lift on 33's which can't go as many places as the Ridgeline.

      @DARODOLO  4 года назад +1

      The Ridgeline has a transmission cooler stock. It isn't AWD, because it's not always on, it's electronically controlled 4WD with a push button locker. As far getting too hot, I have 227k miles on mine now and we tow a 4500 pound travel trailer regularly with it, never had a single issue. We've towed from Las Vegas to the beach, Big Bear CA and Zion UT to name a few places. Even the trans fluid still looks clean when I change it at normal intervals. I use Valvoline Max life on the trans, Honda VTM-4 fluid on the diff and synthetic gear oil on the transfer case.
      Just my opinion, but the Ridgeline in white looks awesome!

      1 worn tires
      2 wrong tire pressure
      3 the driver is gunning it

On VTM-4, it will not lock below 18MPH, on i-VTM4 with any torque apparently above about 70% to either rear wheel, it will start to act like a limited slip diff. I-VTM4 also does not rely on wheel spin to begin transferring power. I definitely think the Gen 1 was more capable because it had a shorter wheelbase and more ground clearance, better approach angle, etc. But I don't know that it was because of the AWD system.

    I personally have never liked the looks of the Ridgeline. It would be nice if Honda made it look more "truck like". I test drove one and it drives great, its a Honda so it will be reliable. For people looking to do some light to even medium wheeling (get decent tires - which you seem to never see on Ridgeline test videos) and it will go "most" places fine. Is it as off road worthy as say a Tacoma, Gladiator or Colorado ? No. Actual 4x4 with lockers will go much further off road. However, if your looking for a truck/suv that will do great in snow still hall stuff and be comfortable doing it its hard to beat Ridgeline.

Power goes to front, rear or all, depending on condition or acceleration. It doesn't have a 4 low, but I've just put it in 1st, hit the locker and got myself out of some sketchy spots. There were 3 different trim levels, but they all came 4x4, v6, locker and pre-wired for towing. If it was all I did with it, I would, but I still use it to tow a travel trailer. That's why I'm just using all terrains and staying with the stock size. I go through to many different types of off road conditions, but still mainly use on road.

    Sweet, I have a 2011, I don't go off road or anything like that. But it's been a great truck so far. I just love the haters bitching and complaining ( the real truck owners ), that this thing can't haul, can't go off road etc. Well there you have it. I see the real truck owners on the road every day. They don't haul anything, they use them to get to work and back and whine about the fuel prices. The only thing they haul are their fat wives on a Saturday morning Walmart run. But they have a big truck, they can haul a lot of shit. Give me a break. It's all about the image. Neighbour has a big truck , I have to get a bigger one because I have to compensate for my manhood.

    Ah city slickers playing on a gravel road lol, lucky you didn’t blow a tire.

      Ah morons that don't realize that Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert, surrounded by mountains. If it was a gravel road I would have been clipping along at 70 mph, but this is a trail numb nuts. Luck had nothing to do with not blowing a tire, I run good tires and keep up on them, I don't trade a date with my sister for used tires from a junk yard.

    Poor thing was not made for it. It is painful to watch how it is struggling on that "off road" :)

      Oleg, from the looks of it, you weren't made for anything other than a couch, so any outside activities would be painful to watch. I'm sorry my truck doesn't handle as well as the public transit bus you use.

    Lol those rigs are definitely not made to roll out on a primitive roadway or off road. I could hear it scrapping the undercarriage horribly. not pretty lol. Thank you for posting it up though was good to see.

      Sure thing old timer, sounds like you definitely know what you're talking about. I'm sure you drive an old American truck with a huge differential that hangs down killing any ground clearance, but it looks cool right. Never had anything scrape under the Ridge, but what would I know, I only own one.
