holy shit. I first became aware of Belew when Lone Rhino came out and the radio actually played some of it. (The good old days) I have followed him ever since and never cease to be amazed by his talent.
Parts of this, compositionally, sound like Fripp’s League of Crafty Guitarists, but with one dude playing all the parts. Interesting! Since Belew was asked to bring a lot to King Crimson (because King Crimson is intended to be collaborative) and because in King Crimson they were always inventing (because King Crimson is intended to innovate) so everything they did sounded new, I never knew for sure if Fripp was rubbing off on Belew aside from Belew adopting NST for his later King Crimson work. Apparently he was! I like this immensely. It must be such a gas to already be pretty great at guitar and then still get to to top things off by further relearning guitar from Robert Fripp!
That was beautiful!! I have seen adrian twice, once in king crimson, years later in the power trio and "three of a perfect trio"! I also got to meet hi, i was so nervous, but he was such a sweet and humble guy!
@@bobschaefer8219 I at 77 have followed Fripp since he started Crimson. He is an innovator of style using polyrythms and enhancing the sounds with technology. He once took a piece of classical music (Bach) and played it backwards, then developed it on from there. After that, throughout all the line ups, he has persuaded the top musicians to join him. Ade, is a perfect example. Think of the guys he worked with over the years. Only great musicians are able to even play some of this stuff, let alone go on to develop it with him. It's not who is better than whom. Its the result we all enjoy.
Probably the best Kentucky ever produced, above and beyond Bourbon. Wow, get down Steven.. aka Adrian. You make us proud Brother. Rock on... I gotta go get my wave on... Y'all be safe out there ya hear.
It amuses me that so many base their assessments of who is a good guitarist on how many notes the guitarist can play in a few seconds. This guy is so far beyond all that. Such a genius, in both conception and execution.
The first time I met him het kept telling me he would talk to me when the crowd settled down. After a quite a while I mentioned that the only two people left in the bar who didn't work there were his warm up act. He then signed a poster and talked to me for a few minutes. Kind of eccentric but, yes, very nice soul.
Помимо завораживающей музыки невозможно оторваться от выражения лица Белью, он творец, он создатель совершенно особенного мира и говорит всем видом÷ а смотрите, что у меня получилось! I have the Fractal Audio Axe FX-II preamp he’s using to make those sounds. He’s going through a large number of patches (or scenes within patches), though. I’ve got about a third of them programmed into mine, but it takes time to figure out how he’s pitched and panned the different delays and set the looper. He may not even be using the Fractal for the looping; it looks like most of it might be done in his laptop (Ableton, maybe?)
Ironically, try looking for the word 'truther' in a dictionary and you'll see; it doesn't exist. In fact, when you consider Atoms are considered 99.99999999% empty space, meaning the guitar you're listening too, the monitor you're watching it on, the seat you're sitting on and even you; yourself don't exist. How awesome is that!
I told my Mom (back in the day), "If you buy my that acoustic guitar,I will NEVER play it !!" This is why. My roots are Ohio Players, Funkadelic, Brothers Johnson, Scorpions,Ozzy, King Crimson. Now, I dabble with acoustic. But I STAY electric!
There's intelligent use of effects, wielded by somebody who can really play, and there's wanksterism by people who are covering up their lack of ability. Belew is a master of the former.
If you just type the word "dischordant" into the google.com search field you can find out if it is a word or not. It's pretty cool. Not as cool as the Twang Bar King. Hey, I didn't mean to complicate your potatoes. Keep rocking the lone rhinoceros when you get a chance. . .
What I wonder, though, is if the playability on this, the $9000 model, is better than on the kind of models that us mortals could afford. I played a lower-end Parker last year and was NOT impressed.
I've always been afraid of Parker guitars because of the headstock. I heard they played like complete crap but this video has proved all of them wrong. \m/
Iv had one for about 12 years no and iv had the luck of having fender jagmaster, Gibson Les Paul, ibanez (forgot which one) and a few others but my parker p40 is by FAR the best playing, feeling and in my opinion well built that i have
I guesss you don't understand the word that you used. 'TERM' That certainly is in the dictionary. So go look that up and tell me if "truther" is a 'term' like you said it wasn't. Go and eat glass and see if it exists.
Awesomeness is measured in Belew's
I know this video is a bit older, but I just rewatched it and got blown away all over again. This guy is a legend.
Yes!
Indeed
Beautiful music. Beautiful tones. Beautiful. Nice guy.

Me too.

Never seen anybody having that much fun playing guitar
Lovely Adrian
this is what happens when when you mix talent and fearlessness
No it isn't. This is what happens when you don't have a telly. ;-)
No, you're hearing a Fripp-damaged, former rock 'n' roller.
Paul Sholar cringe
Well said dude. Please see my comment above. "Fearless" is right.
@@paulsholar9356 Now that shits funny!

genius/insanity. I cant stop listening to this piece. Its so amazing and I love dischordant ( is that a word) intervals. Fly on Mister Belew !!!
Close……it’s DISCORDANT!!
I watched this non stop 6 times now. Mind boggling.
edit: make that 10
Me too! I play this over + over
Ade has always been a top player. The stuff he learned from Fripp, with Crimson makes him exceptional
You mean he waited to learn stuff from Fripp ? :-D like he was'n tin Zappa first ? With Bowie ? With Laurie Anderson ? With Talking Heads ?
probably the other way around. fripp never had anything over belew, the far superior
musician

Mr. Guitar ! Can't wait for BEAT !!!!
AWESOME. You can tell he loves that guitar.

I love the lead that comes in at 10:40. Great video.
Incredible!!!
So brilliant!

Fantastic stuff Mr. Belew!
This man is awesome :0 !!!
That was really amazing 😲
Long live novelty & creativity
Fantastic music. Thanks for posting!
F@#king amazing, and very beautiful
Wish I could have been there this evening to see the Master at work.
Yeah, I would smile too if I could play that well.
Beautifully warped beauty
Indeed, this gets 7000 belews!!!😁❤️

I have no clue about all the technology behind this....but Adrian just bent my mind I think....gonna lay down for a while now....
MIDI and a Looper Pedal basically.

+grittynitty At this moment he is like Dr Frankenstein, a man afraid by his own creation... :D
I would say it is worth about $650
Genius .
Marvelous. !!! I just find out he create the T.H. Psiko killer riff
No, he didn’t create that.
This guy is a genius.
genius !!!!
I like "Variations of Wive Pressure"
Does anybody known the different delay settings he uses here?
Dotted 8th among others?
how does he make chromatic lines sound like that?????????
Not 720p but 720i. Anyway, Adrian is amazing.
Or the Adrian Belew model Parker! :)
that ending is in credible.

I don't understand where these notes are coming from.
As much as I hate to say it if King Crimson were to play again Robert Fripp would be frivolous.
Amazing, one man band, those backwards sounds are tricky to get as you have to play ahead of time.

this should be video game music
do you know the definition of insanity? NO? But I heard the BELEW.
So something eventually caused him to give up the Johnson amplifiers.
butterpipe
Would love to see a collaboration with Kraftwerk😝
after watching that (whatever you call it), I was NOT inspired to play my guitar.
Yeah ....just enjoy.😜

You mean amazingly dissonant
there is dissonace in there. no doubt you'll find it laced throughout all the music you love
Challenging to listen to.
Yeah, it's genius. But I don't want it played at my wake.

You're lucky you don't have to deal with playing symphonic/classical music instruments--where $9,000 bucks is a drop in the bucket.
