The best part was at the end of this video. About 9.07. Adrian Belew never learned to read charts and his musical endeavors and experiences led him to this. You can feel his heart and soul at the end. He is so excited and probably wants to cry here in enjoyment what has just happened here. What a moment.
Just saw Adrian last year at a local theater. Talked to him and his lovely wife. Great folks. KILLER show. Been a fan since senior year of high school, when Sheik Yerbouiti came out. Game over. Saw him several times solo, with the Bears, 3 times with Crimson, once with Bowie.
I did not discover him until HS when Discipline was released, but he just gets better and better - saw some amazing KC shows with him - 3 of a perfect Pair Supper Club NYC acoustic 12 string is among my faves
Standing front row at the Cleveland Agora for the League of Gentleman show…that incredible 1st album…the opening act is a band called GaGa……and what transpired was…..astounding….Adrian wearing a green cap singing peas please don’t give me disease….and the guitar work….brilliant….then Mr. Fripp and company come out…and start playing….oh my!…..and the guy standing next to me is jumping up and down like I am….elbowing me in the side….telling me how much he loves Fripp…Crimson…and I notice it’s the guy who was just on stage playing incredible unique guitar…Adrian Belew…we laughed and jumped and elbowed each other the whole show….after…as I was walking out the lobby…Adrian was just standing there….basking in the night…he saw me…called me over and we talked for a long time….him telling me stories….how we both loved the same bands…neither of us could read music….which I always felt was a hinderance because it locked you into linear thinking….I always felt that any note could follow any other note….when played with conviction…..Adrian started laughing as we discussed all the beautiful accidents that can happen playing like that….and at that moment…a man walks up to Adrian recognizing him and starts asking him how Fripp plays all the diminished scales…going off on a short tangent on musical theory….then stopped when he realized Mr. Belew and I were laughing uproariously at his questions and I mentioned maybe he should take up bowling because as far as I was concerned that linear thinking brought about bands like loverboy…..we laughed for so long just talking like 2 guys who had the same interests….it was a great night….and Adrian was just so nice and intelligent and funny….I wished him the best…..and then felt so proud of him when Mr. Fripp put KC back together with him….his love of that band as he expressed it to me that night was immense….so I just felt so happy for such a nice…friendly guitar genius 😊
Yeah. Asking how someone plays certain scales is pretty silly. It should be noted that part of Fripp's unique style is that he tuned his guitar to 5ths.
I loved Belew for almost 40 years because of his outside the box mentality. He's such a great musician and since he plays so many gimmicky effects things, it's hard to tell just how good he really is. But I suspect he can tackle almost anything. Bravo, Mr. Belew - this was just fantastic!
H Fitzpatrick is on point! Some of the best contemporary classical and jazz composers drown their instruments in chaotic chains of effects so that there is nowhere to hide. Only Bach players beat down on Beethoven lovers for making use of cheat codes like the sustain pedal. Respectfully added by a brain that can strip any effect in realtime with no lookahead.
You would be surprised how many people in this orchestra wish they had been one of the musicians on "Lark's Tongues in Aspic"(even though He wasn't on that)
I shook his hand once in Helsingborg, Sweden, @soundcheck with his trio. They were tired and wanted to go home (States) but always there to be helpful. This... jeez Adrian!
@@prodevus I was talking about Mike Patton singing in italian. But, Interesting, maybe in another universe with another timeline we can see Charley and this orchestra playing together... It would be nice to see and hear, isn't it? P.s. I don't know if you're the real Fripp, if so... I love you.
Adrian is always superb. He dresses formally playing with Crimson. He's wearing a tshirt (a really nice one, I'm sure) playing with everyone in black tie. The riff is scales, beautifully simple.
This came on (per algorithm i guess) after a Dr.Nerve clip while I was busy w/ an email so there was no visual clue of what was playing. It came off as more avant big band (kind of like some Dr. Nerve related stuff than I would have expected...Great Stuff! and a really nice surprise.
Ecco la prova che il suono dei king krimson dagli anni 80 in poi era di Adrian e non di "quell'altro con gli occhialetti" che lo ha anche estromesso "ultimamente" ....Long Life to king Adrian
So great, always lots of fun witnessing Adrian's joy, thanks for posting. Poor bass-player, only 2 very short takes of him (ok, one more from behind) performing so tough. (by the way: I do not understand Adrian's Gizmodrome-THING, waste of time for both listeners and players). Kind regards, the trivial matters.
I will keep a link to this: I will try to subscribe to this channel at a later time. Thanks 🙏 again Every time I try to subscribe I receive error messages: countless error messages...

One thing you can count on with Belew....he is always happy to be doing what he's doing.

He's simply one of the GOAT, imo
The joy when he shakes hand with the director at the end. Such a wonderful and humble musician!
5:28 Adrian quotes his solo from Indiscipline.
Adrian knows how to just build and build up chaos, then a drop, or complex relief, or a groove, then build again… and again. A musician’s musician.
3:21 Proof that Fripp is a time traveler, going to steal the chords and make history.
Everyone is amazing obviously, but I wish they showed the bassist more! He is crushing!!
He has the most passionate smile when it comes to music. Love him.
Me too!! And you are right!.
still has the inner child
3:21 literally Robert Fripp
As usual, Adrian just Belew my mind 🤯
Sounds like Crimson orchestrated. Fantastic!
The bass player shouldn't be overlooked for his contribution - nails it, and is playing more often than any other instrument
He gets paid by the note.
Yes because the drummer only plays part of the time.
Yes. ROA 137: Never play more notes than you are paid for. 😜
I love Belew's playing.

Respectfully, playing effects well (as Belew does) is a musicianly activity and should not be discounted as hiding ability.
and I love his singing also

That was fun! What a treat to see this live.
Adrian belew, de los mejores músicos de la historia moderna, carismático y genial , impresionante !!!! 😍

Adrian, One Of My 3 Favourite! Hendrix, Tocak, Adrian!
Wow... was Truly made for an Orchestra ..... phenomenal
Contrairement à tous les autres qui commencent fort et finissent doucement Adrian a commencé Fort et il finit Fort . Ce type est génial .
This was heavenly.
Whenever Frank Zappa wants to return in spirit to check up on how his legacy is coming along... he hangs out at an Adrian Belew show.
One more reason I am going to see A.B in Homer NY.
Love your picture
Frank Zappa is overrated af and I'm glad Adrian Belew can enjoy a seperate and more authentic legacy.

Well the drummer is really having fun...
The musicians are so enjoying it.
The Metropole Orkest is the best! They've played with Belew and Patton!
Charley Patton?

Rare moments of explosive feel for a comment this is!!
Absolutely stunning
This makes almost everything else on RUclips seem insignificant.
Новое звучание , новое впечатление от игры Андриана , восхитительно! Adrian Belew great musician! Love him.
Damn! That was fun!
el maestro Belew porque no tiene 1MILLON de visitas.
Great recording.
3:20 it's robert fripp on the violin
Incredibile 🔝🔝🔝🔝👏👏👏👏👏
Probably watched that ending about 10 times in a row.
It sounds like Adrian is briefly recalling the solo from Indiscipline around the six minute mark.
100%
Absolutely!

Espectacular que gran musico .
Fantastic 👍👍👍

Il jubile Adrian!! Perfect...
Looked like Robert Fripp on the violin in the thumbnail lol
Great piece of music, had some nice "cat food" vibe going on the piano.
The twang bar king!!!
Excellent.
great teamwork.
Some of this orchestration reminds me of Lalo Schifrin circa his Bullitt score
Wow!

Adrian Belew rules
Me pareció ver a Robert Fripp entre la orquesta. Este tema es puro fuego!
Bond theme for a movie where agent 007 must save the world while tripping balls
💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
super!

WOWWWW!!!
Yeah!!😃
Fantastic
Por demás excelente!!
Oh my
Terrific! Composed/orchestrated by Belew??
magnifico
Invisible Man on Bass.
They need to make a spy movie to go with this.
Wow! Is this part of a larger concert, and available on disc?
These rock/orchestra collaborations are usually embarrasing, but this is actually quite good. Better than the non-orchestra album "e" by Belew.
Yeah it's rare that an orchestra can rock strict time like that
who transcribed all this, Adrian sounds awesome as usual.
Sounds like the music Thomas Newton listens to on his World Enterprises music player in The Man Who Fell to Earth.
suban mas material por favor
👏👏👏👏👏
where do i buy this?
Just One Upped the latest King Crimson seriously. Who needs (3) drummers when you have Belew and Crew.
