Real DGD fans know…the vocalists will always be incredible, but we’re not really here for the clean vocalist. This band is so much more than just the “lead singer”.
Im really excited for this new era of DGD I think it's going to be great based on these two songs AND in Andrews's interview he was saying because there is a missing singer there is going to be more room for collaborations which personally I LOVE and I think they will have fun with it
Andrew said in a random podcast interview that he is not the "main vocalist" that this is Jon's band Andrrew is there as support. This is the direction the band wanted to go apparently with Jon as the frontman hence why Tillian left (I think)
Saw Eidola last night in St Pete, awesome show! I love Andrew as the clean vocalist for DGD, he has come sooo far with his vocal range. I think he implied in an interview this may be permanent and may not and Jon will take more of a lead.....but we shall see! I'm excited...I'm here for it!! 😍🤩 Thanks for the video
I saw an interview saying that Jon is going to be doing more vocals to take the role as “Frontman” while Andrew will continues to to play guitar and sing also stepping up in his role
As a huge DGD fan I have nothing but optimism for the future of the band, these 2 songs confused me at first but after a few listens I’m absolutely loving them! That always happens to me with new DGD tracks
Its wild how I always genuinely think each time "Wtf am I listening too, what were they thinking on these new ones?" And then at some point Ill sleep, listen to it again and its like it just all pieces itself together in my mind in some weird epiphany "Oh wait thats great, how did I not like this earlier?". Only band where this happens to me but it makes me appreciate them deeper each time. They constantly feel like theyre on to something new
@@bubbernub651 couldn’t have said it better myself! Even my “least favorite” DGD songs will have a moment with me where I’m like I’m sorry I didn’t appreciate you enough before
Emarosa is still a band, you’re thinking of his next band, Slaves, once he left they picked up vocalist Matt McAndrew who appeared on Season 7 of the voice.
I’m really excited for the next chapter of DGD. While both songs felt safe/mixed with Tilian in mind, listening to Andrew talk about the future has me hopeful we’ll get some heavy hitters with or without a new clean vocalist. Will, Jon, Matt, and Andrew are getting better and better IMO and this transition will be a healthy way forward for the band.
Check out the interview Andrew did on Brewtally Honest. At least for now he's not stepping into the lead vocals, he is staying in his supporting vocal role and Jon is the front man. I love that Straight From the Heart had Secret Band moments in it. Good stuff, looking forward to where the band goes from here
11:55 Yeah the band said they want Jon to be the front runner when it comes to vocals now. Awesome you caught on that during your first listen. You truly do know your music.
I like these two new songs (especially Straight From the Heart) but I hope they don't release more songs that sound like it was written when Tilian was still in the band that made Andrew emulating Tilian's range and vocal style. They need new songs that are written with Andrew's vocals in mind
Yeah the more I listen to these tracks back to back, it seems like on Speed Demon, Andrew is singing in a higher range similar to Tillian. Andrew mentioned taking vocal lessons to help him sing in a higher pitch, and it really shows on Speed Demon. I feel like Straight from the Heart is more in Andrews normal vocal range. Maybe they were trying something with the two songs, singing in a different pitch on each song. I personally like Straight from the Heart much more than Speed Demon.
It shows who in the costume in the end credits. Also he is a vocalist and a merch guy for multiple bands. It’s possible and I’d be interested in seeing some music with him in Dgd
This is super out of left field but why tf does The Gobbler remind me so heavily of Mr. Frog from Smiling Friends, its actually such a funny comparison.

I feel like they only had those heavier sections like the one you expected on their album Mothership, but other than that not really, at least, not as much. That's why it's still my personal favorite of theirs. Andrew is an awesome vocalist and from what he said on a podcast, there's no actual plan set in stone right now. They're trying something with those 2 singles, but there's no plan for an album with just the four of them right now. He mentioned it was like Secret band 2 + him right now. Jon will be the main focus and Andrew will assist him if you will. Maybe that's why they went for this kind of mix for Andrew' vocals. They attempted something to kind of solidify this statement. I enjoyed everything since Mothership, but I was never able to come back to their stuff as much as I used to. Hopefully they'll experiment a little more because those two songs didn't do much for me either.
great songs and i'm a big fan of andrew (potentially) stepping into the lead role even if temporarily, eidola rocks but you can definitely tell the difference in effect missing tillian's vocals in spots that were designed for his very high range in the first track especially. sadge he had to be such a creep
I really like these songs, but i dont know, tillians vocals just hit better imo. Also that one part in Straight from the Heart gives me Asking Alexander yeehaw Danny vibes.. lol. Not a vibe.. but im excited to see where DGD goes with this.
Maybe it's because i was introduce to dgd with mothership but I'm bummed to see tilliam leave. I am so used to his highs that it sounds like a different band to me without those highs. I love Andrew and i think he is a better technical vocalist with better runs (similar to jonny) than tilian but nobody has those highs. Doesn't help that nothing shameful and inspire the liars are my favorite songs lol. They're unstoppable regardless!
Tilian had a catchy groove to his vocals that made their musical chaos hooky and fun/unique to listen to. These sound generic and kinda flat for me, personally. I do think they built a lot of their sound and melodies around Tilian’s vocals. And since he isn’t there anymore, they’re trying to find their musical direction again which will probably be less poppy and hooky, as the main contributor for that is gone now.

100%. I fully believe that this is because 1. the departure of Tilian, who had a more poppy voice and taste; and 2. the introduction of Sergio Medina (SUPER underrated, guy just doesn't get enough credit). Sergio in particular is just inclined towards that darker and more dissonant sound that we hear in Straight From the Heart. If you haven't listened to Stolas already you need to. I really love their last album, the self-titled.
To me, DGD has always been John, Will, and Matt. I hate to sound this way, but DGDs prefered clean vocalist style is a dime a dozen. The cleans should only exist to prop up John. Who has always been their lead/front man.
