But now I see him perfectly handle Spooks from very first seconds and damn man thats awesome
As much as i miss tilian, I know andrew will fill the role quite well. At first, i was not a fan of andrew as a front man, but this video swayed me a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing him live :)

He was on Nothing Shameful too which is my favorite feature. Apparently they're doing another Tree City Sessions album with Andrew singing all the old songs in studio. That should be a better indicator of what he's capable of with dgd
Ya it was super rough, tilian sings up high. I can sing up high like tilian but even then it’s not an easy song to cover. It took me like multiple years to get to a point where I felt like I could cover the song pretty good. But still tilian has this high pitch that sounds amazing. Like the towards the end, when tilian sings up high, where did I go wrong, that part he ruined singing it so low. Like I get it he has shoes to fill, but it’s just not the same without tilian.
andrew is a wonderful fit for the wide range of jonny, kurt, and tilian. he continued to improve throughout the performance imo. that’s a good performer- and jon is just fantastic as always. it was nice seeing the moments andrew was really killing it and everyone was just vibing together. great set. love the direction the band is going
The ending of Evaporate where they layer the vocals is very well done on Andrew's part. I was super worried with how high pitch and intense it is, but Andrew made it his own and honestly killed it.

Great versions of the songs with Andrew. I am loving this version of the band. Speed demon and straight from the heart are awesome, and that version of carve was fun. Andrew doing some screams and Jon doing some pitched screaming is the most dynamic you guys have been. Loved that we got some swan raps too
Andrew can scream, nails Jonny's vocals, and does very well on Til / Kurt's songs. Is a good looking dude, has stage presence and doesn't have any scandals to his name. People still say they want Tilian back lmao. What a great performance from the band.
We own the night was rough but I have heard Andrew earlier on this tour nail it a few times before so I think his voice is just a bit rundown at the tail end of the tour here. He sounds amazing doing all of the other songs and after Eviscerate came out this year from his band Eidola I have become a huge Andrew Wells fan and I think he will do great with the new material written for him and the man crushed the Jonny Craig era stuff and would do the Kurt Travis stuff well too I have no doubt.
True, I think he sounds perfect for it when he nails it. To be fair Jon can get rough sometimes too. Just the nature of live performances especially as they age.
Tillian himself never sounded quite amazing live. He was always slightly flat. So I think it's fair Andrew isn't doing amazing either with his songs lol
They just need a new album with all Andrew tracks to tour on. Straight from the Heart and Speed Demon are so much better than the rest (in this performance). No one can really cover Tilian, hell Tilian can barely cover Tilian. (this version of Carve was pretty badass though)

Andrew sounds great singing these songs that weren’t created for his register. Tbf, tilian didn’t kill these live either. My wife and I have gone to DGD live 3 times recently and every time thought tilian was MID live so in my humble opinion Andrew is doing at LEAST as good as tilian
he's either on or he isn't, I lucked out because I've only seen them once but he killed it, but I've seen many of his live performances that hurt. Glad Jon can always kill it, at least.
I've seen Eidola once or twice and DGD quite a few times. I have NEVER heard Andrew scream before. Him and Jon going back and forth on Carve was fucking sick
I find some symbolism in them ending with “We Own the Night”, one of the most iconic Tillian songs, followed by “Evaportate” which was Andrew’s first big song with them.
Andrew is better fitted to the Jonny and Kurt songs. Although i think he could do most songs on Acceptance Speech. He seems to struggle on most of the tillian stuff which is fair. But what's most important to me is that they're having fun.
I mean he might be struggling, but he sounds fine, good even. Still sounds better than so many other vocalists within this scene, doing vocals made by somebody who sings way more higher-pitched.
i want to drop my opinion here real quick, I really dont mind that andrew is using lower ranges for songs that obviously have higher ranges from tilian (and i know some ppl are gonna disagree and i completely understand, we can only hope that he can improve his higher ranges) but what bothers me just a bit is that he switches up between low and high ranges a lot in the middle of the songs which makes it sound inconsistent, i hope he can improve but otherwise i think he's doing alright with kurt's and JC's songs
Give the guy a break. He’s doing a better job than most of their other singers did live. It’s just that Tillian’s register is unusually high and would be challenging for most singers, so props to him for even trying.
i know how you feel man, i still can't get over the fact that tilian left the band, but you have to admit that andrew is holding up very well with a lot of tilian's songs as well as the previous two singers' songs, IMO i think andrew is clutching it
DGD just needs to stop doing tillians songs. Give andrew a break and let him develop his songs with the band. Im sad they are crucifying him live for everyone to see.
I can’t get enough of this performance. “Carve” really jumped out at me. It’s never been played that way and I feel that’s what they really intended for it but Tillian wasn’t able to come anywhere close to that with his vocals. My guess is the album releasing this year will have more of the earlier sound + heavier songs. Laugh at me but I bet there will even be a funk song. Like it or not but Andrew is miles apart from Jonny, Kurt, and Tillian. Message me if you disagree.
Andrew is doing a great job filling in, but these songs aren’t written for his vocal register and it shows unfortunately. I’ve seen them live three times now and Eidola twice. I’m a huge fan of his and he’s exceptional when performing songs that more naturally fall within his vocal range, but these aren’t it.
Yeah it's a bastard being a baritone trying to sing countertenor notes 😆, its impressive what he does manage to make happen. Synergy worked pretty well...but for a headliner tour I'd be more than happy to see them cut most Tillian material in favor of older stuff(and the prospective new album.) I was still more than happy at the Denver show...and just to see them enjoying their time on stage again; they seemed absolutely dead on the jackpot tour.
I don't feel like that's the case, go see the most recent Tilian shows and now not even him performs as good as Andrew. He ends up singing with the same registers Andrew does and he is a tenor. In papers Andrew performs far better right now. If Tilian stopped smoking or something he would do as good but his voice has gotten shaky over the years.
THANK YOU for not choosing Kurt again, and going with Andrew. I don’t think anyone but tilian sounds good for his songs, but I’m very excited for new Andrew songs with the music fitting his voice. The band sounds as great as ever. So glad they don’t let these constant member changes stop them from making great music. Been a fan since 2005, I actually preordered their first EP WISIRO by accident almost 20 years ago, and they’ve been my favorite band ever since
Whats the issue with Kurt? I know im minority as kurt was my favorite era but there is some bias as thaats when i really got hooked all though ive listened from the start.
@@Tht1guy63 I dunno what bias u mean, I’ve seen and met a crap load of people who love Kurt and I never understood it. His original stint with the band, he sounded terrible, especially live. Couldn’t hold any notes, constantly lost his voice. He almost was the reason they split up for good. They moved on from him cuz he couldn’t sing live. I think he smoked too. Plus I met him when my band opened up for DGD a long time ago, and he was a total dick to me for no reason, other than I wasn’t some groupie chick so he was too good to speak to me. But that’s besides the point. He’s a much better singer now definitely, but he still just sounds way too whiney and compared to Jonny (the best singer), tilian, and now Andrew, the talent level isn’t even close. I heard rumors they were thinking of having him front the band again since they recently did that tour with him and Andrew singing while tilian took his hiatus, and I’m so glad they went with just Andrew instead
Fuck. I was short on money and wasn't sure if I wanted to make an 3+ hour round trip drive to see either of the North Carolina shows just for an opening set but I really wish I did... It's probably gonna be a long time until they play Spooks again :(
they already confirmed that was not Tilian's, it's Andrew's which they recorded months prior to this tour, they prepared that incase they didn't have anyone who can do backing vocals which is currently the case
Not bad at all but I can’t help but think Andrew might have an easier time if he eased up on the working out a bit. I remember seeing Eidola back when they were playing to crowds of like 60 people and he was a (much) smaller guy and I feel like his upper register was FAR more readily available and smooth. That said, I know he’s had vocal reconstructive surgery and I still love him as a vocalist.
Should just play mostly JC's songs or maybe Kurt's tbh. Fits Andrew well (pun may or may not be intended 😊) On second thought, Andrew should just scream during tillians part.

@@Tht1guy63 I dunno what bias u mean, I’ve seen and met a crap load of people who love Kurt and I never understood it. His original stint with the band, he sounded terrible, especially live. Couldn’t hold any notes, constantly lost his voice. He almost was the reason they split up for good. They moved on from him cuz he couldn’t sing live. I think he smoked too. Plus I met him when my band opened up for DGD a long time ago, and he was a total dick to me for no reason, other than I wasn’t some groupie chick so he was too good to speak to me. But that’s besides the point. He’s a much better singer now definitely, but he still just sounds way too whiney and compared to Jonny (the best singer), tilian, and now Andrew, the talent level isn’t even close. I heard rumors they were thinking of having him front the band again since they recently did that tour with him and Andrew singing while tilian took his hiatus, and I’m so glad they went with just Andrew instead

Fuck. I was short on money and wasn't sure if I wanted to make an 3+ hour round trip drive to see either of the North Carolina shows just for an opening set but I really wish I did... It's probably gonna be a long time until they play Spooks again :(

they already confirmed that was not Tilian's, it's Andrew's which they recorded months prior to this tour, they prepared that incase they didn't have anyone who can do backing vocals which is currently the case

Not bad at all but I can’t help but think Andrew might have an easier time if he eased up on the working out a bit. I remember seeing Eidola back when they were playing to crowds of like 60 people and he was a (much) smaller guy and I feel like his upper register was FAR more readily available and smooth. That said, I know he’s had vocal reconstructive surgery and I still love him as a vocalist.
