What 2024 album do I need to hear still?? Also if you want to keep up to date with all the new music in the metal scene and make some online friends then check out my Discord discord.gg/AfH2MrRMSn
On Monday, Atmosphrs that I requested on your stream couple of times (you even added their song Leech to the Cum Metal playlist) are releasing their 4th album.
Im just gonna throw it out there, i know you kinda glazed by it, but, Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition is a very surprising record for a death metal band. Its borders right at the edge of being traditional modern death metal and melodeath. Every track has a very good catchy hook to their chourus and the riffs are sooooo tasty. Just saying, it may surprise you.
@aloneinthesky7153 If you're into death metal, 2 recommendations I gotta give are Necrot - Lifeless Birth and Skeletal Remains - Fragments of The Ageless.
I was just going to mention how much of a crime it was for Loudwire to not include Imminence's The Black on their list! Definitely better than half of the albums they did mention.
You know before I started the video I saw the comment and laughed. I don't like Imminence, they do nothing interesting I haven't heard before from better bands but honestly w/ the albums they put up I'm gonna be real I think you're right 😂 they put up some *ass* albums.
Good list, but missing a few of my picks. Imminence 'The Black' not being on here is just straight wrong. Other missing albums are 'Keep Me Fed' by The Warning, 'Manifesto' by Sunburst, and 'Unobtainium' by The Cyberiam
Chat Pile's album is in my top 5 for the year. Like you said it took me a minute to get into their sound but once it clicked I was hooked. I'd also have to say that Diamond Construct and Kublai Khan were snubbed from this list for sure, as well as More Insane by Undeath which is probably my favorite death metal aoty, amazing riffs on that one.
Personally I think poppy might have had my favorite album of 2024. My top 5 this year have to be 5. Alpha wolf - Half Livings 4. BTMH - Nex gen 3. Knocked loose - you won't go before you're supposed to 2. Make them bangers 1. Poppy - negative spaces But honestly, 2024 has just been probably one of the best years for music of all time. It really feels like every genre of music was just knocking it out of the park this year.
Definitely give a shout to Blackwater Park. I discovered Opeth with that album, and it has been my favorite album of all time since then. The depressive and melancholic vibe they achieved in that album is unmatched.
I always thought that Ghost Reveries was a better album to get into Opeth for metalcore fans, because it's a less death metal than Blackwater Park. For me you begin with Ghost Reveries and then you enter the Opeth spiral.
@@Ivoteforfrenchfries yeah, I guess you wouldn’t start with something like their last few more prog/clean albums (not counting the last album which is more like their old stuff), nor something like Damnation (they’d get the wrong impression haha). But I still think the track “Blackwater Park” is so good that it transcends genres and is the best introduction to Opeth. For me it’s probably a top 10-20 song ever written.
Opeth are the best fucking band walking the Earth today. This album is a 10/10 perfect record. It is the perfect blend of the old Opeth with the later progressive Opeth and the return of the death metal vocals. Will be at the top of a lot of people's lists for metal album of the year.
Out of the ones on this list that you havent checked out I highly recommend Blood Incantation, Ihsahn, and Candy. All really good for different reasons. The biggest miss for me on this list is no Job For A Cowboy. Moonhealer was such a sick album.
The new Dark Matter album by Pearl Jam is really excellent. Vedder hasn't really done the stereotypical voice associated with him since their first/second album (Dark Matter is their 12th). You should really give them a try. Their album Yield (from 1998) holds a special place in my heart.
I'm also not into Doom and black metal but I check it out from time to time. Recently I discovered some tracks from Gaerea and I was quite impressed. Then I checked out the album so I can recommend them.
Matching it with my list I don't think they did a bad job. I mean The Warning and Imminence are the biggest misses but overall not bad. Edit: I am surprised they didn't have Chelsea Wolfe or Bilmuri a little bit but overall I'm not upset about the list 🤷🏽♂️
I think I’ve heard you say Thrice is your favorite band, they’re mine as well. That’s why I’m pretty confident you’d enjoy some Pearl Jam, especially the 90’s stuff. Their first 2 albums are near perfect. There’s also a film Cameron Crowe did on them called PJ20 that tells their story and has live performances from the different stages of their career, it’s really good.
Guys, this is first time I'm seeing a video from this channel. Can someone please explain to me why he keeps saying that he has been "planning to listen to this album" for months or even years?? 😭 Just listen to the albums man, they're like 30-40 minutes long. How does one plan to do it for years 😭
My top albums that I think you need to check out are: Vitriol - Suffer & Become Wristemeetrazor - Degeneration CANDY - It's Inside You Dead Icarus - ZEALOT Extortionist - Devoid of Love & Light Aborted - Vault of Horrors
i know its not metal but Clancy by Twenty One Pilots got snubbed here. that had the number 1 week for a rock album this year. it also got completely snubbed from the grammy's. they need to give these two some fuckin love. they deserve it
For doom metal i would try the new album from Mother of Graves called The Periapt of Absence its melodic doom but i love it and i dont care for doom that much either
Bruh...JUSTICE FOR ERRA'S "CURE"! Not gonna stand for it's slander! But thats WILD not mentioning Allt! Hooefully in 2025 some publications will recognize as like "a 2024 gem we missed" or something like that.
The fact neither Thy Catafalque, Ulcerate, or Aquilus' latest releases are on here is a crime imo. But i guess those maybe a bit too niche. I'm a HUGE Devin Townsend fan and enjoyed Powernerd but i really don't think it deserves a place in the top 25 of the year 🤷🏻
5:13 NO as a genuine Pearl jam fam, I can say that this one is a bit generic. Maybe start with ten, then vs. up to you, though. That, and I like the old stuff, so…
Black metal is awesome you just gotta have more patience. Knocked Loose is overrated and overhyped and their vocalist is bad and yeah thats coming from a guy that listens to black metal. Also the fact that State Faults wasnt even mentioned is wild. Probably one of the best post hardcore albums ive heard is a while.
Yeah, to me, most black metal just sounds like angry cats gagging into a tin can, but somehow the lofi version. Lol. Aside from a little Burzum, and one or two Folterkammer songs, just isn't my thing. I'm probably missing the point, but I just didn't get it. P.S. Speed is awesome- some of their tracks give me sort of Ghost Inside vibes - positive, angry, driving hardcore
Pearl Jam is easily my least favourite grunge band from the 90's. They have good songs and Eddie's voice is cool and unique but he doesn't really showcase alot of range in his voice other then that low register he's known for. Cornell will always remain my favourite vocalist cause not only could he sing low like Vedder but his high range was absolutely incredible. Anyways you mentioned PJ so I had to write this comment. Oh also Birb one of the albums you mentioned on the Loudwire list was Return To Dust great rock band I discovered this year gotta check them out! And lastly you absolutely have to do a deep dive into Opeth man! All their albums from the 2000's era Blackwater Park, Damnation, Ghost Reveries, Watershed all fantastic albums super excited for their new one! \m/

TBDM album is a must, best guitarwork this year
@aloneinthesky7153 If you're into death metal, 2 recommendations I gotta give are Necrot - Lifeless Birth and Skeletal Remains - Fragments of The Ageless.
Extortionist - Devoid of Love and Light
The absolute disrespect to Imminence is insane.
True! The Black is a Top 10er for the year!
I was just going to mention how much of a crime it was for Loudwire to not include Imminence's The Black on their list! Definitely better than half of the albums they did mention.

Falling in Reverse shouldn't be on this list because half of the record was released as singles over the course of several years.
and it was all shite
@@luketinginit indeed. I think it was the worst metal album I've heard in years
I agree it's garbage it shouldn't be on the list if Loudwire do EP and put Motley on it I'm done with this site
falling in reverse shouldn't be on this list because they fucking suck
Oh dude, you HAVE to listen to the Blood Incantation album. It's phenomenal! AOTY for me.
Not even a question, it’s perfect from start to finish. Maybe one of my favorite albums ever.
Boundaries still got my album of the year man 🔊🔊
Same here
The fact that Imminence and The Warning misses the list its absolutely awful...
No Allt? No Imminence? Make them Suffer?
Criminal
Nah, Make them Suffer is awful.
Good list, but missing a few of my picks. Imminence 'The Black' not being on here is just straight wrong. Other missing albums are 'Keep Me Fed' by The Warning, 'Manifesto' by Sunburst, and 'Unobtainium' by The Cyberiam

Darko-Starfire
KKTX-Exhibition of prowess
Hell it’s been a great year for Deathcore, Metalcore and hardcore
Definitely give a shout to Blackwater Park. I discovered Opeth with that album, and it has been my favorite album of all time since then. The depressive and melancholic vibe they achieved in that album is unmatched.
10/10 album. It’s lurking in the core of us all.
I always thought that Ghost Reveries was a better album to get into Opeth for metalcore fans, because it's a less death metal than Blackwater Park. For me you begin with Ghost Reveries and then you enter the Opeth spiral.

@mundanemorselsmundanemorse7028 Personnaly my favourite of them IS Ghost Of Perdition but I Can easily see why Blackwater Park is the most popular
Opeth are the best fucking band walking the Earth today. This album is a 10/10 perfect record. It is the perfect blend of the old Opeth with the later progressive Opeth and the return of the death metal vocals. Will be at the top of a lot of people's lists for metal album of the year.
Definitely on my radar!

The biggest miss for me on this list is no Job For A Cowboy. Moonhealer was such a sick album.
Every year i look at the lists that loudwire make and they're always very.... entertaining lol
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield is a great record. You should check it out.
The new Dark Matter album by Pearl Jam is really excellent. Vedder hasn't really done the stereotypical voice associated with him since their first/second album (Dark Matter is their 12th). You should really give them a try. Their album Yield (from 1998) holds a special place in my heart.

Coma is an amazing album.
Im not usually into sludge but high on fire hit with me. Those bonecrushing riffs!
Boundaries …ALLT …LMTF ……FFAA…..knocked loose …..for me …..
Not including Leprous is wild.
And no Poppy is a shame too.
Iotunn's Kinship is my album of the year. Blood Incantation (the only one that's great up there) and Thy Catafalque.
Laura Jane Grace is the vocalist from Against Me
Lets go metalbirb!
You know who’s Popular Monster should be nowhere near this list. It’s overproduced, corny, Tom McDonald ass “Metalcore”.
Could not agree more. One of the worst albums I've ever heard
Where is VOLA?
You should definetly check out candy, 200 stabwounds, blood incantation and Opeth of course!
High on fire is it power metal💀
I laughed my ass off haha
I think I’ve heard you say Thrice is your favorite band, they’re mine as well. That’s why I’m pretty confident you’d enjoy some Pearl Jam, especially the 90’s stuff. Their first 2 albums are near perfect. There’s also a film Cameron Crowe did on them called PJ20 that tells their story and has live performances from the different stages of their career, it’s really good.
I might have to check Speed out; Speed got announced for Cochella 2025, so that's big for them.
Blood Incantation's album is without a doubt my AOTY
Basically what I can say for most of this list is: Yes, those were indeed albums released in 2024.
How is Gaerea - Coma not on this list?! That album is beautiful..
Rotting Christ - Pro Xristou was pretty sick as well.
Guys, this is first time I'm seeing a video from this channel. Can someone please explain to me why he keeps saying that he has been "planning to listen to this album" for months or even years?? 😭 Just listen to the albums man, they're like 30-40 minutes long. How does one plan to do it for years 😭
How are Opeth and Bodycount high on the list when it was released yesterday (23/11/2024)???
My top albums that I think you need to check out are:
Vitriol - Suffer & Become
Wristemeetrazor - Degeneration
CANDY - It's Inside You
Dead Icarus - ZEALOT
Extortionist - Devoid of Love & Light
Aborted - Vault of Horrors
You also check Undeath Greenwitch Civerous and Anciients
Rotting Christ number 1 for me. Not a black metal band fan generally but they kick arse and the album is heaps good
If you were going to check out Pearl Jam at any point... the correct answer is always their debut album, Ten.
For me, its between Boundarie's new album or Amity's Redux of LTOTM
Smashing pumpkins was surprisingly good i would recommend it and i mostly listen to deathmetal
that new smashing pumpkins is different its real good
i know its not metal but Clancy by Twenty One Pilots got snubbed here. that had the number 1 week for a rock album this year. it also got completely snubbed from the grammy's. they need to give these two some fuckin love. they deserve it
Blood Incantation Absolute Elsewhere is insane
Damn didn't know Greenday release an album wondering why they're on so many festivals. Would like to check out some of these but yeah no time.
You have to listen the latest Judas Priest... also have you heard the new Vulvodynia one ?
For doom metal i would try the new album from Mother of Graves called The Periapt of Absence its melodic doom but i love it and i dont care for doom that much either
Bruh...JUSTICE FOR ERRA'S "CURE"! Not gonna stand for it's slander! But thats WILD not mentioning Allt! Hooefully in 2025 some publications will recognize as like "a 2024 gem we missed" or something like that.
No Axty nor Heriot albums ?
The fact neither Thy Catafalque, Ulcerate, or Aquilus' latest releases are on here is a crime imo.
But i guess those maybe a bit too niche. I'm a HUGE Devin Townsend fan and enjoyed Powernerd but i really don't think it deserves a place in the top 25 of the year 🤷🏻
those were way and beyond better than anything on that list besides maybe Blood Incantation.
You have to listen to riitiir of enslaved if you're more a prog dude. You will not regret
5:13 NO as a genuine Pearl jam fam, I can say that this one is a bit generic. Maybe start with ten, then vs. up to you, though. That, and I like the old stuff, so…
Misgenrening mid tier bands like Darkthrone and High on Fire? Poser exposed!
my whole top 3 wasn’t even on there lmao
Falling in reverse album is a joke since the songs have been out a long time with most of them
⚔️MORTAL REMINDER⚔️
How did they miss Many Eyes - The Light Age?
@@nicklarson801 seems like the album flopped from what I’ve seen
Better Lovers outshined them
Black metal is awesome you just gotta have more patience.
Knocked Loose is overrated and overhyped and their vocalist is bad and yeah thats coming from a guy that listens to black metal.

P.S. Speed is awesome- some of their tracks give me sort of Ghost Inside vibes - positive, angry, driving hardcore
You might like the various forms of crossover bm.
Try the 2024 Khold album, Du Dømmes Til Død. More groove than straight bm.
Chekc out Resuscitate. AOTY for me. One man project prog masterpiece
Nemophila - Evolve, they are like Hanabie 2.0.
Thrown - Excessive guilt. Alpha wolf 2.0.
The ghost inside - searching for solace. Heavy metalcore. 😊
WTF Imminence The Black was better than 90% of those albums what a crime
Genuinely an atrocious list. Putting Popular Monster, BMtH, and From Zero about KL is so bad.
Is it just me or is it a very male heavy list? Forgive me if I'm being ignorant. I certainly would have included Negative Spaces.
Pearl Jam is easily my least favourite grunge band from the 90's. They have good songs and Eddie's voice is cool and unique but he doesn't really showcase alot of range in his voice other then that low register he's known for. Ya basic. Just admit it
Knocked Loose should easily be number one. It’s the the only heavy album that’s good in 2024.
overrated
Are ya nuts ? How about Boundaries, Fit For an Autopsy, ALLT....just to name a few
@ I don’t like any of those
