Most of my fragrances smell better over time, but sometimes they smell different in a weird way. I haven't had any go bad, but one had a weird note I never picked up before. Still was good, but different. Another I had with a little left in the bottle that had been sitting for about 15yrs (Givenchy Pi) and when I sprayed it the booze note was so extreme. It was as if someone just poured a bottle of dark rum on me. However, second wearing after that the note was much less. I think a lot has to do with air going in and alcohol fumes in the spraying tube. Sometimes new fragrances smell awful for the first 3-5 sprays. After that they smell good. I notice this a lot more with the Arab companies too. It is very interesting to notice changes over time.
I know exactly what happened, as you said it, Alcohol fills the empty part of the bottle, this is why the perfume became more concentrated. How to get rid of that alcohol? Flip the bottle upside down, and spray the gas (which would be mainly alcohol in this case), then bring it back up. Hi Joel, thanks for the info! The term maceration I've heard mostly regarding middle Eastern fragrances, I recently bought a middle Eastern fragrance and it's just hit the 3 months old Mark (as per the date on the box) how long does it actually take to macerate? I'm asking because the tester smelled much nicer than what I got in the bottle, and If it's 3 months old I'm just wondering how much longer I should let it macerate? Thanks
Most of the time fragrances just had to be macerated. They are mass produced so no time to wait few month in some storage. Every Go* Dam* frag that I have/had in last year had to go through the process. Saharian Wind -Mancera,Bentley Intense,Pure XS PR,Toy Boy,Detour Noir,Armaf cdni,Montale wood and spices! Biggest change was with PHILIPP PLEIN NO LIMITS! Ppl hate it coz of it's ugly looks but TRUST ME it will knock your socks off!
That should be gd..I have went though over 5 bottles over the years..hav a new 2022 and its very weak I'm so disappointed hopefully letting it sit few months will help..I have empty 2020 bottle I just smelled the sprayer and it's polarizing Beyond beast mode compared to the new.
@ivanpajnic3362 how ironic I was just touching on this..I have a rip off cdnim le version smh scam..all smoke zero projection gone in ten minutes so pissed that's been sitting for few months to Mancerate. The edts kill the limited edition. They are getting better slightly hour performance then gone..the edp is few months and kills all..that's getting better and scent is gorgeous. I purchased l'aventure intense and edt they don't last smh..so far edp cdnim winner. I'm debating on the not only intense stuff but hear that's been watered-down smh.
just use you fragrance, then open cap lit it sit, no matter dark place o not, just keep away from the sun, then you fragrance be better 👍 i do have experience my lattafa perfume it work 👍
Interesting story! I think I have a problem with my pure parfum. It is an original, 2-3 month old batch but I reckon it does not last as long as it should do. I mean there is hardly any sillage after the first 10 minutes and the smell sticks very close to the skin, there it sits and developes for the next 8-10hrs. I'm very surprised as the pure parfum is said to be one of the strongest editions. Is this just me getting nose blind? Will other ppl smell it more than me? It does project more if sprayed on clothes or several times on the same spot, so yes, I'm definitely sure it is what it says it is. Thanks in advance! :) PS: My skin seems to absorb the scent very quickly. Is maceration the answer?
@@Faigh_as it did, I read his comment on another video. lol. he's very happy, after maceration, 12 sprays, being complimented even after 7 hours of spraying. now he sprays only 5-6x.
i noticed if i fill the fragrance up in atomizers they macerate faster.. u can smell right away after 1-2 days... i thinks its because there is more surface for a less amount of liquid..u should also mention there are a ton of scent wich go bad after years... no fragrance last forever... sure they still smell, but some notes might be gone and u dont even notice ...
I have heard from perfumers that after a few years fragrances starts oxidation and even tho people think it has "macerated" and gotten better, a perfumer nose will know that the fragrance is going bad. I am no perfumer so I know shit, Im just learning and getting into the hobby.
I have a question sir, if after macerating, will the scent going to change as time past or it will stay in a specific smell for years after the macerating process? just like something reached its final transformation and it can't transform into something..Hope you can answer this sir, would really appreciate it.
People say that fragrances from The Dua Brand are made-to-order or not too far from it. Is that why the Dua scents I recently got have poor longevity even though they are at the "extrait de parfum" concentration level? Is their longevity likely to improve dramatically after the bottles are left alone in a dark drawer for a few weeks?
Nice info, thanks. Is that a plastic bottle your Indigo is in? Is that good for the maceration? Or is that good overall for storing fragrance? Will it leach plastic into the formulation?
Recently bought 2 fragrances Creed Aventus and Layton and I got newer batch for Creed and I heard newer batch doesn’t perform good, does that mean I have to macerate my Creed Aventus like you just explained in your video? Please let me know 🙏🏻

Oh my gosh I got Erba Purafrom scent box and was so excited for it to smell similar to Kirke.. but when I first smelled it I thought I was going to pass out from the stink.. it was like a rancid animal in heat or a teenager with extreme Bo or somebody's crotch.. but now a few weeks later, it smells like a powdery fresh spicy Amber. The musk is much more tame, or at least it is today. I still don't get the fruit bowl that others describe, but I will try it again some other time. I'm still scared to try it out on a date or something like that because if I end up smelling anything like I did the first time I used it, men would be appalled and run away! @@EmacEnvious Most fragrances last longer than their expiry and don't go off unless you store them incorrectly. I stored it next to my laptop, on my window pane by accident... Just leave it in a dark and dry place after giving it a couple of uses, it does work (for most of the fragrances) and you'll find noticeable differences within a month or two and it will keep getting better over time. No need to remove the cap.
You forgot to mention the OXIDATION part of maceration, which is the most important part!!! Edit: maceration WILL NOT BEGIN until oxygen is introduced into the bottle!! Which means you must spray it 15, or so, times before putting it aside.
Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help as I’m new to this Maceration process. I just bought a bottle of CDN MILESTONE. I pulled it out of the box and just smelled the atomizer. It smelled beautiful. Hellow, me to, it happend to my milestone. When i spray, there is additional smell like rubber burn or plastic that disgusting. NEVER EVER JUDGE A PERFUME ON THE BASIS OF YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE. Then I heard about maceration and thought to give it a try...I bought a New bottle Of Raghba Wood Intense and remove the JB One man show from my shelf for a couple of weeks... exactly after 5-6 weeks I again sprayed the juice and this time it's something else... Bit heavy... perfomance is increasing...and I guess 4-5 months..is all what it takes to settle..

How i can macerate a profum? I have to let to rest for weeks without using? And without his cap?
I checked my CDNIM yesterday and it was made 10 months ago, so my question is should I macerate it or not?
And how do I do it
That should be gd..I have went though over 5 bottles over the years..hav a new 2022 and its very weak I'm so disappointed hopefully letting it sit few months will help..I have empty 2020 bottle I just smelled the sprayer and it's polarizing Beyond beast mode compared to the new.
@@macadonis9242 hey bro , any update on performance of your cdnim?
@ivanpajnic3362 how ironic I was just touching on this..I have a rip off cdnim le version smh scam..all smoke zero projection gone in ten minutes so pissed that's been sitting for few months to Mancerate. The edts kill the limited edition. They are getting better slightly hour performance then gone..the edp is few months and kills all..that's getting better and scent is gorgeous. I purchased l'aventure intense and edt they don't last smh..so far edp cdnim winner. I'm debating on the not only intense stuff but hear that's been watered-down smh.

question, how about maceration and the impact in performance, and I mean longevity...
I have the same question!
PS: My skin seems to absorb the scent very quickly. Is maceration the answer?
Are you talking about cdnim ? Did it improve?

I have a question sir, if after macerating, will the scent going to change as time past or it will stay in a specific smell for years after the macerating process? just like something reached its final transformation and it can't transform into something..Hope you can answer this sir, would really appreciate it.
can we get a link where you buy fragance oils online please?
Please let me know 🙏🏻
A year later… does it last longer? I just bought a bottle a month ago and it’s pretty weak. Wonder if mine will become stronger and last longer. Thanks

You didn’t tell us how to do it????
They say it gets better over time! Have you heard that too Joel?
I recieved orion by tiziana terenzi and it smells like pure alcohol, should i wait till it mature or smth like that?
LOL I'm interested to see how it changes in a little bit of time.
How about now? Its been 5 month. It is back to normal?
@@amaterasublack3519 you know what .. it really isn't as musky now.. I still prefer Kirke as it's one of my favorites... I don't know what was going on with EP when it first arrived, but my goodness, it was stout with the animal smell at first lol it is quite a bit better now.
I just got my bottle of Erba Pura 2 weeks ago and I gotta say…I love it BUT I don’t get the nuclear room filling sillage that ppl are saying, I myself can smell it on myself which would typically indicate that I f*%led up and over-sprayed but nope no reactions. My mother who will be the very first person to tell me of my cologne is strong didn’t notice Erba Pura until she got in hugging distance. It last 8+ hours EASY but it seems like a intimate/hug compliment getter (every person I’ve had smell it loved it)

I got a versace dylan blue sealed but it was manufactured about 2 years ago . The smell is a bit strange , to me almost too alcoholic compared to sample I had . Would letting it sit for a while help it or is the bottle ruined ?
2 years is too short for it to be ruined
any update on this one? does it already smell same to the sample you had?

My Mancera Aoud Exclusif arrived 10 hours ago. 3 applications as mine doesn’t last or project. I wonder if it needs further maceration? Very disappointed at this point in time…especially after all the hype!
how do you macerate it?
Same here I had aoud exclusif and aoud lemon mint sprayed them for 2/3 days and wasn’t truly pleased . I liked them for sure but wasn’t pleased like how Black Gold, Hindi Cush and Cedrat Boise performed out the box. I let the lemon mint and aoud exclusif sit on my dresser for 4/5 months and I felt the scent was twice as better for the for sure. Give it a try
@@qmason9242 i recently bought Red tobacco and my batch’s performance is very weak, so macerating will make it better in performance you think?

Which of the cdni..edt, edp or limited edition?
Moat tines when you spray your fragrance for the first time it take some getting used to. That could be the issues as well.
My Versace Eros EDT is no longer sweet, smells weaker and much darker. It smells like alcohol initially now and goes to the scent after about one minute. I bought it at the end of 2016 and have hardly used it so it should not have gone off by now
It lasts about 38 months I believe
@@EmacEnvious Most fragrances last longer than their expiry and don't go off unless you store them incorrectly. I stored it next to my laptop, on my window pane by accident... I put it in my bag multiple times to carry it. I think it was due to me forgetting that I had placed it in a bad location and also the fact that this fragrance is made out of cheap synthetic chemicals that don't keep well nor is any UV protective ingredient listed in the ingredients. I most likely subjected it to far too much heat by accident
Your perfume rocked pretty hard, it seems. That's why. Cool, dark and dry place, no cars, no excessive temperatures and violative radiation, no computers. You shake'm from time to time when spray, keeping'm alive and that's all.@@jamesthefragranceguy
Does anyone know how to do. Im reading just spay some out so gets air in the put away in cool dark place. My question is how long and cap on or off ?
Just leave it in a dark and dry place after giving it a couple of uses, it does work (for most of the fragrances) and you'll find noticeable differences within a month or two and it will keep getting better over time. No need to remove the cap.
@@VivekRajput-uo5rm thank you so much for the reply back. Can I use occasionally during process or does that negate the maceration results ?

You forgot to mention the OXIDATION part of maceration, which is the most important part!!!
Edit: maceration WILL NOT BEGIN until oxygen is introduced into the bottle!! Which means you must spray it 15, or so, times before putting it aside.

Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help as I’m new to this Maceration process.
I just bought a bottle of CDN MILESTONE. I pulled it out of the box and just smelled the atomizer. It smelled beautiful. But once I sprayed it, the scent smells like plasticky and nothing like the dry scent on the atomizer. It honestly smells really bad.
The bottle date says 3/2022 and Expires 3/2027. BATCH # 352736, 00933.
What should I do? Do I spray it more and put it away for a month or so, or do I just return it immediately? No way I’m wearing this like it is now. I’ll be hated wherever I go 🤣. Thank you all in advance!!!
Hellow, me to, it happend to my milestone. When i spray, there is additional smell like rubber burn or plastic that disgusting. All i have to do spray it for 10x, and put inthe box, let it rest for 1 month. Dont move it, dont use it, dont touch it, until 1 month. are you supposed to macerate first and get the final smell then add perfumers alcohol?
Perfumers do it different ways but the most common way that I have seen is to mix the fragrance oils with the perfumers alcohol together and then let it macerate. But some people do let the oils macerate before adding the perfumer's alcohol.

NEVER EVER JUDGE A PERFUME ON THE BASIS OF YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE.
TIP:- Buy a PERFUME...spray it 7-8 times...and again pack it and leave it for 4-6 months (store in cool and dry place ) not in your bathroom.. but inside your cupboard or almirah...
I recently brought a bottle of Jaques Bogart one man show (light green perfume) old barbershop scent (1980) ...at first sniff..it was a pure nostalgia... but.. performance not more than 2 hrs..then I again visited the store..and asked the owner about the performance of the bottle, and he said that he hasn't received any complaint regarding perfomance though.
