    Really powerful and touching piece of work, I loved the influence of the grandmother and was really taken by the emotional context. The history of the perfumes and his passion were beautifully illustrated. A really great film. Congratulations. I wish Abdu all the success for his journey and hope to purchase his creations soon. The film gave a huge amount of information in a very short amount of time. A considered and moving portrait, I really enjoyed.

    I love this story. I am especially touched by his quest to learn something new to continue his family's tradition and I am especially sad that the war separated family. It is tough for him as a perfumer to pick up weapon and kill others when his world is just originally so gorgeous and loving. I pray his country gain peace and love back soon. I am thankful the family in France helped him for his study.

    What a fantastic short. I relate fully to the journey of scent through emotion and experiences, the memories of my grandparents are definitely an influence on my own blends. I hope Abdulkader makes it far. I'd love to smell one of his creations!

    TY for this video. I enjoy smelling perfumes and fragrances so learning how they are created scientifically was enlightening. I found it very interesting that when Kader blended the various memorable scents of key aspects of his life (i.e. his grandmother's rose, fragrance from his ethnic heritage, and the unforgettable smell of gunpowder from wartime) , his peers thought this was the nicest and most memorable perfume blend of the 88 he created. This tells me that when we don't run from our past but embrace the good and bad with equal measure, we can create a beautiful future for ourselves that we never imagined. That's a wonderful lesson about both perfumes and life. Thank you for sharing it.❤

    I’ve slowly but surely gotten more into fragrances over the years and watching this as a graphic design bachelors degree holder this doc makes me wish I went to school for this instead. Even if I didn’t find a job in the field(never even applied for a graphic design job) learning about fragrances and Ingredients and making my own would be worth far much more than the useless projects I have on some usb flash drive

      you don't need a degree in perfumery to be good at it. you have lots of information on the internet that can help you get started, so it is still possible for you to create perfume.

    there only problem at 17.00 mark of video is that in the scriptures it says in Leviticus 2 verse 11 " no grain offering that you bring to the creator shall be made with leaven, for you shall burn no leaven nor any HONEY as a food offering to the creator.. He does except burnt honey.

    What I don't understand is that the western world never knew what perfume was. This all arrive from the Arabs and the old civilisation and the Arabs are master perffumer

    • @highpockets359
      @highpockets359 5 месяцев назад

      If you want to understand, you might try dropping the arrogant pretense against western countries. There's more cultural beauty in the world than what Arabs claim credit for. It's a shame so much has been destroyed through conquest and war.

    When you have someone spew bs to try to make a story, 'my grandmother could smell what roses would be best used for jams' it's blatantly obvious and lacking of depth. The smell of 'war' like you're adding false intrigue to a piece that you obviously had no structure. 'This smells of the past', like what?

    • @kria9119
      @kria9119 2 года назад +24

      What is your problem? If you don't like the documentary, leave. The story is a personal story of this man, it has a structure. And yes, roses are not all the same, and weapons truly do smell of sulphur - for him, this became the smell of war. Aren't you pathetic

    • @kayw210
      @kayw210 2 года назад +2

      @@kria9119 You can lap up the fluff for the sake of cheap entertainment. But those not looking for false value added to something substandard, this could have potentially been an enlightened and informative documentary, however this is trifling content built for the basic. Aren't you doltish
