    Thank you for the tour of your dyes! That was fun and interesting. I also appreciate everything you said about Hobby Lobby. It's easy to say "you don't know what you don't know" but when you feel that shame of having made that mistake, it can be hard to process (trust me, I get it). Your restitched design looks great and your info was very informative; you're doing the things.

    David Green does not keep his employees from paying for it themselves. But if it is medically necessary, the insurance will cover it. If it is general contraception, there are many ways to get it free unless the state you live in does not allow that. You can literally walk into any drug store in the USA and ask for what we call the morning-after pill, if you are worried about pregnancy. They will give it to you free (unless you live in a state that prohibits this). If you need to take contraception for any other medical reason, no insurance carrier can refuse coverage.

      They went all the way up to the supreme court about this tho.

      @@marika.stitches but in America people can sue for anything. Contraceptives includes a wide variety of drugs including viagra and others. MANY contraceptives can be purchased without a doctor’s consent. Those contraceptives that insurance companies WILL pay for are those that a doctor is willing to do the paperwork for authorization. NO insurance company can deny those that are deemed to be medically necessary. David Green himself cannot determine what an insurance company will accept. He simply chose an insurance company that will not pay for things that can be purchased over the counter without going to a doctor. So while the Supreme Court declared that he had the right to make the decision that he did which upheld his religious beliefs and the fact that he could choose any insurance company because he has a private company.

      This went to the supreme court because of the affordable care act, as it is a law that says that companies that have over a certain amount of employees need to have a certain coverage with their health insurances. This was brought by the federal state against Hobby Lobby.
      The supreme court held in Hobby Lobbys favor (4 to 3) because "it was not the least restrictive way" of upholding the law. The supreme court said that the government could take the cost of giving such medications. and there for they could not ask Hobby Lobby to take that cost.
      In this case it wasn't about all contraceptions is was about 2 kinds. The day after pill and IUD as David Green said that these constituted abortion. So Viagra was never on the chopping block, just female contraceptions. And IUDs can not be purchased over the counter.
      David Green can very much ask the insurance companies to tailor their packages to suit his wants, it is done everyday for much smaller companies.
      The only part of the ACA that was turned down was for the 2 kinds of contraceptions. David still needs to give coverage to everything else in the ACA. So no David cannot choose what ever insurance coverage he wants he still needs to go after the ACA laws.
      I would guess that the Supreme court would have ruled another way if Davids chosen religion wasn't christianity.

    Love your progress on The Visitor. The color of the fabric is perfect for destruction at dawn! I haven’t stepped foot in a Hobby Lobby in years. Thank you for explaining your reasons so that others may make informed decisions. Kudos to you for standing begins your principles. Coast.

    Bravo, Marika, for your stance on Hobby Lobby!! In addition to all the things you mentioned, the company and David Green are very homophonic. Another reason I don’t shop there!

    I am interested in the Aida that you have dyed, especially the gingersnap; it looks golden, and I am looking for the perfect piece for YasminBMadewithLove’s diversity peacock. With gold being the opposite of blues, it would be perfect. How hard or expensive would it be to ship to the USA?

    • @marika.stitches
      @marika.stitches  Год назад

      The shipping is depending on weight so it depends the size of the piece so between $4-10 around that with tracking it’s around $12
