At least you have a sense of accomplishment at the end. This team hasn't made me feel joy yet this season lol. Even the wins have felt like we barely scraped by.
To me the #1 issue offensively is that Carlisle is allowing the team to play read and react in the half court set and these aren't players that seem to understand how to read or react outside of the break. Last year's offense featured more set plays where the players' movements were orchestrated. There were established pick positions (and those players then knew whether to roll or pop), there were cutters and there was perimeter motion with the intention to create switches (mismatches). This year watch how often people are just standing around and watching the ball handler. Watch how many times per game the solution is to throw the ball to Siakam and give him no choice but to go at a double team and try to make a difficult shot because his teammates are standing behind defenders and giving him no options. He's not the only player taking tough shots because teammates aren't figuring out how to become available either. It's really difficult to understand the purpose for continuing this experiment. It's a leap of faith in the personnel and the players just aren't figuring out how to operate autonomously. Time to go back to play calling in the set. Also, have you considered breaking down the issues with Siakam in the zone? When he's perimeter in the 2-3 zone he has an alarming tendency to sag toward the lane and leave a man open which is leading to so many open shots each game for the opponent. I really like him as a one on one defender, but he's struggling mightily with finding his place in the zone.
That explains it all Facci was at the game. 💀No, but really we should of never let go of Dan Burke I miss those days when we one of the best defenses in the league.
When you look at what previous teams have done, they have kept teams together and found small upgrades where needed. So, we should, should have already been looking for holes to fill. Starting with defense and physical play. So, that's what you do. And I think that's what they are doing. Hints all of the contracts this year. They WILL bring in better guys to fill the holes. Maybe even a better center. But for sure other pieces
As someone who watched Pascal throughout his whole Toronto tenture, it feels like his last days in Toronto. I understand the money, but I wish he didn't sign back with Indiana. This team has one too many one-dimensional players, and in today's NBA, you need two players. I get Carlise not being to blame for the on court performance, but his decision-making, especially in regards to his lineup choices, hurts the team, too. There needs to be an offensive hierarchy. There is no reason why Pascal and Tyrese shouldn't take 20 shots each a night
Interesting you noted that as I felt the same way, watching Siakam deflated and walking to the locker room after the loss without saying anything was tough to see.
I think they need to move TJ into the starting lineup. The ball moves around the perimeter but, there's no driving or penetrating the defense. No one is cutting. The offense is just stagnant.
NBA league has changed to an aggressive physical style of play, Pacers have to adapt and get more 2-ways players and play with force. Only the franchise player Haliburton can get away with not being a 2-way player. Current 2-way players are Siakam, McConnell, Nesmith(injured) , Nemby (injured), Jackson(injured) , Mathurin learning. That's the root of the problem in this new era of the NBA... Pacers need to add a top defensive coach on its roster, to assist Carlisle who is a top offensive coach to help this young team.. Cam Johnson and Queta from the Celtics are perfect for the Pacers. It’s time to trade Myles and get something else. I would call San Antonio and Dallas for a trade for Myles
Saying you’d rather be doing dishes over watching the pacers game as a man and a father is very sad and says a lot about how bad they are playing rn

Carlisle completely destroyed this team.
