Nice video. Have you ever thought of just taking a hose and watering down your canvas to remove whatever dust and dirt that might have settled on it and then letting it dry before you vanish it?
I tried the lint roller and it left a thin uneven residue of adhesive on my work. Then the lint stuck to the adhesive and the varnish was repelled in those places. Nightmare.
Hey there, sorry you had a rough time with your lint roller. I should have put out a disclaimer to make sure that lint roller isn't too sticky. I sometimes roll it over my shirt or pants a couple times to remove some of the stickiness if I find it too strong. Also if a painting has lots of texture or areas of the piece that have large clumps of paint that isn't fully dry it can lift it off if the stickiness is too strong! So sorry you had to go through this!
I love your water paintings! I love this varnish , but my latest bottle got gummy? At the bottom of the bottle it is very dense…..I hate to throw it out, have you ever had this happen?
If it wasn't sealed properly it's possible that it turned gummy. I haven't had this happen to me. Has shaking it helped to make it return back to normal otherwise it might be time to put it to rest. I usually buy smaller bottles of varnish/mediums for that exact reason. I'd rather go through fresh product then hold onto old product for years.
If you allow the piece to air dry a couple days you can touch it with your hands as long as you don’t apply pressure (which can leads to fingerprints). I roll and ship my large pieces but I lay plastic or glassine on top to protect the piece.
Oil paint shouldn’t be varnished for at least 6 and up to 12 months, as the oil has to cure. Having the painting merely dry to the touch is not enough to avoid the varnish to potentially impact the paint and increase the chances of it cracking due to not fully cured oil paint. Thought people should know, as it can truly cause a lot of damage when applying varnish to touch dry but not fully cured oil paintings.
I think that rule applies to older type Varnish. If you can put your fingernail to the paint and it doesn't dent you can use this stuff. Plus he also used Liquin which speeds up drying and kinda acts like varnish itself.
We love a straight to the point video, thank you!!
The lint roller is a brilliant idea!

Answering my own question, from self experience, aboutn24h

How long does the Gamvar take to dry?
It can be touch dry in as little as a few hours but I wouldn't recommend shipping it until a few days later.
Hi. Is your board primed with anything?
I've painted on board and only primed where I painted. Question is… can I Gamvar varnish straight board?
I have painted a awesome oil painting with night colors, im scared if i varnis it i get white spaces at structure places. Anyone tips?
Like if you make varnis thin its seetrougg right, but if it stays in like structure does it dry white?
Or does it fill structure?

Hi, how hard does this varnish dry? In other words, could you roll a canvas for shipping with this varnish applied?
