Golden Milk Frappe Drink Recipe: Inflammation Reducing Drink with ACV- Thomas DeLauer…
    Recipe:
    8 ounces almond milk
    2 T ACV
    ½ T Coconut Oil
    ½ t Ginger Powder
    ½ t Turmeric powder
Optional: ½ t raw, organic, local honey
Almonds: Multiple studies have found almond consumption o be beneficial for cardiovascular health - Largely through lowering blood lipids& may also reduce inflammation. Case Study - Almonds beneficial for several inflammatory markers 1. 2010 study published in the British Journal of Nutrition. 25 healthy adults, both males and females, age 23-53. Following 2 weeks preparation where participants consumed 34% energy from fat, subjects were randomly split into three groups and followed these diets for 4 additional weeks.
Heart-healthy control diet without any nuts (less than 30% energy from fat)
Low almond diet (10% replacement of control diet with almonds)
High almond diet (20% replacement of control diet with almonds)
Findings: Serum E-selectin was significantly lower for those following the high-almond diet than the control diet, with the low-almond participants with E-selectin values in the middle. C-reactive protein (CRP) was lower in both almond groups when compared to the control group. No differences were found on IL-6 or fibrinogen.
ACV: Case Study - Recent Study Finds Vinegar Reduces Inflammatory Markers, Body Weight, and Food Intake in Obese Mice 2. 2017 study published in Nature’s Scientific Reports.
Findings: Both vinegar groups experienced reduced body weight and food intake. Nipa vinegar more effectively reduced inflammatory parkers and well as lipid deposition and serum lipid profile.
MCT Oil 3: In traditional Thai medicine, the coconut has been used for centuries for a wide variety of ailments. In multiple studies, coconut oil has been found to possess anti-inflammatory effects. Virgin coconut oil has been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory effects on ear edema and paw edema in rats. This effect was thought to be partly due to reducing granuloma formation, transudative weight, and serum alkaline phosphatase activity.
Turmeric: The mechanisms through which turmeric reduces inflammation are thought to be, lowering the levels of two pro-inflammatory enzymes in the body and stopping the formation of blood clots through stopping platelets from clumping together. Case Study - Curcumin Reduces Inflammation Caused by Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage in Mice 5. 2007 study published in the American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology.
Conclusion: In mice, curcumin may reduce inflammation and improve performance following eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage.
Ginger 6,7: Case Study- Human Study of Ginger finds it to be More Effective than Placebo for those Suffering from Osteoarthritis.
2001 study published in Arthritis & Rheumatology- 261 knee OA patients with pain ranging from moderate to severe took part in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group, multicenter, 6-week study to evaluate ginger extract versus placebo in reducing “knee pain on standing.”
Findings: Those in the ginger group on average reported a greater reduction in knee pain on standing, knee pain after walking 50 feet, and Western Ontario and mcMaster Universities osteoarthritis composite index. On average the ginger extract group experienced a larger reduction in the intake of rescue medication when compared to the placebo group. Global status was on average improved more in the ginger extract group.

The cucumin in Turmeric needs fat an active ingredient present in black pepper to be absorbed and assimilated.
So maybe adding a pinch if it may be a good idea.
In india we’ve been drinking turmeric milk for centuries.

As for turmeric, I always buy fresh organic turmeric and grate it. It does leave you with orange fingertips though! I have some in my porridge right now, and also almonds that I've blanched. I always soak them in boiling water for a couple of minutes to remove the skins. Tannic acid reduces the absorption of minerals... (as you probably know). I also grind my flax seeds to help release the omega 3, and I add a couple of chopped prunes and a handful of either blueberries, raspberries (or both). We mustn't leave out blue/purple foods, which contain high levels of anthocyanin and helps prevent dementia, for example, by literally washing away plaque-causing proteins, such asTDP-43. Good quality sleep and a regular sleep pattern is also highly beneficial to prevent plaque accumulation, of course. There has been a lot of doubt regarding coconut oil lately, mainly because it's a highly saturated fat and quickly solidifies at room temperature. However, recent studies have found that it does not have the same effect as other saturated fats. You may be interested in watching one of my favourite programmes (yes, British English - as I'm a Londoner 😉), which is called "Trust me I'm a Doctor". It's shown on BBC iPlayer, so it might not be easy to access without a ps... There are a number of past episodes here on YT. A recent episode researched the pros and cons of the latest coconut oil fad. I don't wish to turn this into an essay... Being from a family of many medical practitioners (my late husband was an orthopaedic doctor), I'm always interested in the science. I work at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, where we conduct very interesting research-also in relation to diet. Regarding the BBC News report on the benefits of asparagine, this was published in Nature-the most prestigious high-impact scientific journal. I'm just off to buy some asparagus! 😄

Super informative thanks Thomas! Will implement it in my diet. I already use ginger and turmeric in slow cooked basmati rice with pink himalayan salt. It's an ayurvedic receipe I was suggested to eat as I had IBD. Inflammatory bowl dises. I helped a ton but what cured me eventually was cutting out gluten, sugar, dairy, going organic and juicing. However I have becoma a health nut so sure will add your receipe to my diet as well. Sounds delicious. :) Sorry for poor English.

Do you have any concoctions for DIY keto pre- and post-workout drinks? I'm on a major budget and everything is so expensive. I have BHB, MCT, Collagen, ACV...the usual suspects in terms of keto supplements. Thanks, love your concoctions!

Hi Thomas! Your videos are pure awesome! I just wanted to add that pepper enhances the effect of Turmeric, so even 1/8 tsp. in this wonderful, healthful drink, would help to activate the Turmeric to its maximum potential. :) TY for all that you do! :))

Have you a measure on the macros for this recipe? And, would it be advisable to add whey or vegan protein powder to this mix?

    Dear Thomas,
You'd add black pepper too for absorption purpose.

I have had warm golden milk before and it tasted pretty good. I will definitely give this a try. I drink ACV every morning with cayenne pepper so I know I can pretty much drink anything lol

Shaun Balliah Total guess here but it doesn’t seem like a daily thing, I would imagine 2-3 times a week

Nice! The only thing missing is a pinch of black pepper to increase the bioavailability of the turmeric.
