    Reminds me of a kid on Christmas morning. Huge smile, excited to talk about the new toy.... great deal. It's strange that we've never met but, after watching most of your vids, I'm very happy this good fortune found Amesie -- congratulations bro! Enjoy it!
    How much you need to save in order to get insured, registered, etc.? Let us help you out!

    • @AmesiesCorner

      The insurance quote is $700 plus sales tax, title and reg. so it might be a bit before I get to enjoy it.. I have PayPal but forgot how to access it lol.

      Amesie's Automotive Corner if everyone who liked this video kicks in $2 you'd be riding. Figure out PayPal so we can get you on the road. It's the least we can do for what you've done. Besides, we will all enjoy the videos of your bike adventures.

      Amesie's Automotive Corner .. don't worry about asking, I'll do it for you! EVERYONE! Toss Amesie a couple bucks to get the gold wing registered/licensed/insured. Skip one day at Starbucks and help our boy out. He's put tons of time into keeping us entertained, etc. send him a couple bucks to say thanks. It's quick and easy! No need to break the bank, it just takes a couple bucks from each of us and the goal will be reached.

    Live Freeze or Die from Kensington. Here in the garage stripping down my 1983 Goldwing. Two years ago was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and a Goldwing was high up on the bucket list. Also if things went really sideways could head to the Rockies and pull a Thelma and Louise. Spent hospital time findimg a bike and having it worked on. We all know bikes have souls and long late night rides have saved many marriages. I plan to roll up to the pearly gates on my Goldwing. If my name is on the naughty list God will send me back as a Harley rider.

    Great find! In 2013 I bought a basket-case '78 frame with a '75 engine that was seriously abused. Five years later, I figure in another month I'll have her running. You have a great commuter/fun bike there. It will gather crowds where ever you go.

    "The Gold Wings were never supposed to be naked". Not true, Honda did not know these bikes would become Interstate cruisers and as such they came out as naked sport bikes. They had more cam and power but after everyone was making Vetter rich they discovered that market. They then combined the two products and eventually had the Interstate type cruiser. I was a Honda dealer when they first came out.

    • @zosxavius
      @zosxavius 4 года назад

      No he is right. They were supposed come come with factory fairings. Honda was going to have vetter make them. There are a few examples of their prototypes. Honda had the molds ready to ship to vetter and a fire happened and they were destroyed. There wasn't time to create new molds. Thus the Goldwing became naked.

    I am turning 63 in a few days. Just bought a 78' naked Wing. Enjoyed your vid. I paid $800.00 for mine but a good deal for me. Carbs been done, timing belts been done, new SS $600.00 exhaust just added. Prev. owner had back and knee issues and wanted me to have his bike. Going to do a Rt.66 trip on it.

    Back in the early 80s I had a good friend. The two of us both had been repairing motorcycles since we were young teenager's. This friend had a gold wing, exact same bike as you have, down to the color. His bike developed a catastrophic rod knock. Used parts back then were readily available.He picked up a used, complete low milage , running engine out of a insurance total. One saturday, with a shop manual, rolling papers , a 12 pack and tunes of course we swapped the engine out. He rode that bike for years making multiple, long range road trips. I prefer the early , stripped down version of the gold wing over the boats they have evolved into today. Enjoy your "wing"

And I am ready for more power, full guages, and a better riding position. I am 5 foot 11 inches, wear 35 inch sleeves. It feels great to sit on.

    your rims have been updated too, the 78" had regular spoked rims, the 79 came out with the rims like you have, you got the best deal ever, and the 78" had the highest HP engine, in 79" they started detuning them and a smaller cam. I wish i would have kept mine, good luck riding it, dont get rid of it.

    I had a 84 Goldwing loaded out with 5K worth in aftermarket lightbars, chrome, covers,, 4 intercom helmets, custom paint, trailer, etc. Got that for 3K back in 1988 or so with 10K miles. Great bike, My real favorite was the 1984 Standard, with no fairings, the only year they offered a naked Goldwing, That GL1200 was a big improvement over the previous years

    • @notajp
      @notajp 6 лет назад +2

      Steve Osgood Actually the early Wings like my 76 were all naked. If you wanted a fairing or bags you had to go aftermarket. Once Honda found out that so many owners were turning them into touring bikes they started building them that way from the factory and catering to those riders. The original GL1000 was actually meant to be a performance bike!

    Hey Paul, CHEER UP ;)
    Not a Goldwing fan (own sportbikes since '84). I used to call them 2-wheel buses :) I have ridden Honda sportbikes and they are easy to ride over my Kawis (much less forces on bars but then less feedback.)
    However, that is a cool bike. I would never consider a beat up old GW but that thing is pristine. I'd ride that and be happy for cruising. Should be reliable and a blast for cruising through back roads.

    I'm surprised that no other "Oldwing" owners have chimed in yet, but the new gasket on the stator cover is more than likely (just) because the stator was replaced, which was and is an issue with these 1000, 1100 and 1200 Goldwings with permanent magnet alternators. Yes, the motor had to come out to effect that repair, but it is not generally indicative of a total tear down and rebuild. These flat-four boxer motors are very over engineered, robust powerplants and in many case have been known to go 100,000, 200,000, 300,000 and in some cases 500,000 miles without rebuilds.

    Very nice bike and a good deal. I like them better stripped down like this. No helmets needed here in Minnesota either. Back in my day they weren't required in MA either!
