- Iyanla Vanzant is mourning an unimaginable loss. The life coach and bestselling author, 69, announced the death of her youngest daughter, Nisa Vanzant, over the weekend. Iyanla shared the tragic news with a brief Instagram message kindly requesting space to grieve. "It is with great sorrow that we announce the transition of Nisa Vanzant the youngest daughter of our Beloved Iyanla Vanzant we are asking for your prayers. Please respect the privacy of her and her family at this time. Thank you." Nisa was born in 1974. No further details surrounding her death were publicly available as of Monday. Nisa's passing comes 20 years after the death of her older sister, Gemmia, who died of colon cancer in 2003 at age 30. Iyanla spoke about her grief journey in an interview with MSNBC in 2022 and shared how she overcame her darkest moments.

Very well said. Your description can apply to other areas as well. I went through this when bouts of depression hit me for no reason for several years. It wasn't based on one thing in particular; I was just hurting from everything, I guess you can say. I realized a while back that I'm an empath with a tortured soul. I love very hard and get engulfed by other people's problems, to the point that I need several days of alone time to release it from my system. It's like I can feel the pain people go through or see snippets of their lives play out like short movies in my head. It's an exhausting life that I have, even though I don't have kids or a husband.
