For the lady in the green shirt, I would also add something my Daddy taught me, and then something I learned recently that helped me get over people pleasing. Daddy said, *"Never forget that 'NO' is a complete sentence."* You do not have to explain _why_ you said NO to something. And recognize that *if a person doesn't want to be in your life because you refused to let then use you, then they should NOT **_BE_** in your life!* Also, recently, I was asked to do something as I was recovering from pneumonia. I said no (which is a complete sentence!). She asked me why not. I just stared at her and then was surprised to hear myself say, *"If I had said YES, would you want a reason?"* She said no. Then I said, *"If you don't need to me explain a YES, then don't ask me to explain my NO."*
Iyanla is aging backwards. She appears to look even better with age. Iyanla's "In the Meantime" changed my life. So much so that I've gifted that book many times. I find it interesting the people I've gifted the book to had lots of difficulty getting out of The Basement. Since then, I've enjoyed seeing Iyanla's content wherever it's available. Powerful!
Jada wrote about her life which happens to include parts of her marriage. She deserves grace for her bravery and story of trauma and resilience! I do believe Will told his story that included their marriage but he did not get that level of anger.
That's why I could not understand the hatred towards her. We love to talk about 'keeping it real'. But when someone does it, we have a significant problem. Everyone else was running their mouth about Jada and Will for years, and that was okay. The minute she started talking, people cop an attitude. The sad part is when it is black women tearing her down.
@@boldmover Exactly! It almost felt like the outrage was about her taking back her power and no longer giving them an opportunity to gossip about their relationship. The minute she started speaking her truth, it took away the power of their lies and they got mad. "You're making it hard for us to tear down your marriage now that you reveal you've been separated for seven years! HOW DARE YOU MAKE FOOLS OF US?!"
Jada Pinkett Smith’s interview with Jay Shetty changed my Perception & perspective of her. She also visited the church I attend. I realized Jada was just expressing her real emotions about being married having a family dealing with her personal issues. She is seeking peace & harmony. The dramatic part of her life is remnants of lingering unhealed pain.
Giving grace opens the doors of authenticity and it has the capacity to bate you or build you based on your own personal narrative. Iyanla is the GOAT of healing work.
The lady in the green (Arlene) was so pretty and seemed so sweet. Hope she finds the strength and COURAGE to start saying "no." Iyanla is right. You are worthy enough to put yourself first. It's a muscle 💪🏾 you have to start using.
The EGO can be debilitating especially when we aren’t conscious . We RUSH to judgment with 💯 emotions often. Yep. To put yourself first you have to believe you deserve it. That you are worth it. You are worthy of being first place and you won't die if some people don't like it.
I love Iyanla. I have watched her videos 10 yrs ago. When i watch her now, in thus video, she has different eyes. She is speaking from her heart, not ego, even though the host was buttering her up and saying "nice" things for her ego, but she just kept grounded. Thats an elevated soul. I want to be like this too ❤
In other words, ppl love as i call it, "organized chaos". Ppl love to get caught up in the drama because it keeps rhem from looking at the truth and what's going on with you. Just like Iylana states, ppl want to stay stuck in that place cause it takes work to admit something wrong and try to fix things.
What she said after that was the book was about her HEALING….not the drama… I learned something from this video because I too became caught up in the drama with Jada and other celebrities recently…the sensationalism of it all…it’s just a way to tear other people down without focusing on yourself …
She really didn't. You made the choice to situate yourself into her healing story. I made the decision not to take in the gossip and inaccurate ckick-bait headlines, so I had no problem with her at all. One day I'll buy both their books to understand their personal journeys.

It is so sweet to give grace to situations like Jada's and so true, her marriage is none of my business. If you want healing, speak to a counselor in your private life. Jada wrote a book, placed her business in the public eye, talked about all of her business on her Red Talk show, and flaunted her relationship in public. If she stops placing her business in public spaces, people won't question her or be in her marriage.
I've been a fan of Iyanka since I first saw and heard her words.. I LOVE HER MESSAGES i.e. the current example is what she said about Jada and Will that people need to stop tearing them down and MIND THEIR BUSINESS..
At this point, Jada and Will should do their own work in Private. People keep saying that it is none of our business and I agree. So why keep encouraging this public display. I am signing off on them. I have nothing left.
I agree 💯 %. Now Ilyanla will publicly interview Jada under the guise that she’s not minding the actual personal business🤷🏾♀️. I’m so over all these people who want privacy while they crave attention.

For the lady that asked the question, I think in most cases a people pleaser’s idea of goodness is attached to what they do for others. And if they aren’t being of help to others then they aren’t good anymore. If they say no then they are being harsh or the person’s need won’t be met. And it’s worse if you are religious
I love your comment because it speaks to the issue of codependency. Codependency is a condition that makes a person believe they are well because they’re helping others. ❤️❤️
@@GodsChild4Ever446very true. Goodness and giving and all that is noble but we can’t attach our sense of being to it. Otherwise we will feel less than good when we aren’t able to do for/give to others
See we have to know that we came to this world enough(full, justified, complete) because that’s what God desired us to be. We are not our actions(good or bad) even though they bring certain consequences. We have to strive to go back to our factory settings which is a clear conscience that’s not been corrupted, one that looks to it’s maker for all justification, not making its own justification
Dear Lady in Green: What would you tell your daughter or son. What has worked for me with people-pleasing is a litmus test: will they still 'love' me if I have a reason for saying 'no' this time or if they ask for 500 and I give them $100, will they still be grateful. Little things like that takes courage and the willingness to not be 'loved'. It seems time and money in the long run on your journey. Be blessed.
I so agree we need to mind our business. I also believe we need to not throw it all out into the world. We need to remember our actions and words do affect those around us such as airing our laundry when it involves our children.
