Back in 2015 a buddy of mine moved in with one of his coworkers, I tried to warn him about the infestation of roaches the apartment complex had, he didn't listen, on his first night there he stood up all night slaying each and every roach he saw, when it was all over the place looked like a war zone, bodies everywhere. He wasn't the same after that.

That's the difference between modern family guy and classic.
Modern would have just had Peter do something silly like blow up the house because of fleas, Classic took it much further by having the absurd idea that there would exist an A team style mercenary pest extermination task force that shows up armed to the teeth to kill insects with firearms and explosives. They then go further and have a cliche PTSD action movie redemption arc story. It's hilarious because of how absurd it is.
