    Great video. I was using my stryd with phone in the winter, and just stryd in the summer. Debating whether I actually need a watch, but if I were to get one coros is prob it. I love batt life and with the stryd integration it prob is the only watch on the market without an insane price that fits both, even counting next year.

    Great video!! I'm a runner from Brazil and I was wondering to get a coros for me. today I have a Garmin and I think that the way to import the training to the Garmin app is really easy, I mean, to put the intervals and everything. How about with the coros, is it easy like the garmin, to import the trainings to the app?

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  3 года назад

      Awesome, thanks Jason!! I would say on paper, you would be good with the Pace 2, but it's not been released to the masses yet, so there could still be bugs or things we don't know about it. The Apex is a great watch and has been out for a while, and people are really happy with it, but it does more than you need it to. I'd go with the pace 2 personally!

    Hi Ryan, was wondering, do you use the Stryd only for power metrics or does it also take over the measurement of pace and distance from the Coros?

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  3 года назад +1

      Yep, Coros defaults to Stryd data for power, pace, cadence, and you have to tell it to use Stryd for distance if wanted. I do that do since I think it's typically more accurate than GPS, especially in tree cover or around buildings.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  3 года назад

      Go for the stryd pod. The coros pod is basically only accurate for cadence. Stryd will give you a ton of really good data

  • @supotube
    @supotube 4 года назад

    I am new at that "power thing". So do you really see any benefits for training in Power zones?
    I train most of my fast runs and intervals just in Pace zones. But that limits me to train only on the roads, becase in terrain and trails is hard to do the correct Pace for all intervals.
    And is it better than training in Heart Rate zones? I mean, if my watch doesnt support Power, should I run intervals during trail run in Heart Rate zones?

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  4 года назад

      Yeah, there is a lot to unpack there, but generally it's best to use the three (pace, heart rate, power) in tandem if you have the option to. Each serve their purpose and might be more useful than others in different situations. The three of them together can give you a more complete picture of your training. Like you mentioned, trails can really affect your pace, but heat can affect heart rate, hills, wind, there are a lot of factors that will cause variation. Power will give you a objective data point that isn't affected by other variables like sleep, nutrition, hydration, or sickness either. So all that said, if you have the option to, training with power is more desirable and can probably help you hit your goals quicker than not training with it. But knowing what to do with the information is another topic!! For your last question, yes it would be better to target HR on your trail intervals if you don't have power. Let me know if you have other questions, I'll try to touch on this more in future videos too!

    Hi Ryan. How can you have the odometer for power? I only have the value. Thanx

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  3 года назад

      On Coros I think the odometer only displays HR, everything else on the watch is just a number field I believe. would be nice if you could change that.

    Have you sync'ed the data from coros to the power center after the run? Which elevation is shown in the power center? Is it from coros' altimeter or stryd's?

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  4 года назад +1

      I have synced and they’ve said that all Stryd measurements are used in the file, no way to truly tell since there is only one data stream for elevation in the file, but I’ll take their word for it. Seems to be working fine. The only extra thing you do need to setup that I missed on the first time is to tell coros to use Stryd’s distance data and not pull distance from GPS. I’ll mention that in my next video 👍

    • @khrisnadarundono7982
      @khrisnadarundono7982 3 года назад

      @@RyanClaytonFilms Thanks Ryan! That's superb! If I'm not mistaken, you can still perform offline sync from your stryd to power center, then you'll have two runs in the same day (one from the coros exported and one from the offline sync). If all trends are the same between the two runs, I guess it confirms that all stryd measurements are used.
      Will watch your next video for sure 👍

    I´m a 400m - 800m runner, is there any point in using a power meter ?
    I´m using a HR monitor now and apart from long easy runs I do a lot of
    intervals on and off the track. I also do hills. It seems like everyone
    who is talking about power meters is running long distance or triathlons
    etc They also seem really expensive for what I may get out of a
    power meter for my race distances. Thanks

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  3 года назад

      Great question John. You could definitely get some benefits from using a power meter in 400-800m distances on the track but not as many benefits as someone who is using it to pace longer race events. I would say your main benefit would be tracking training load during the season and pacing mid to long distance training runs. Probably more benefit to you on the long term training end, rather than during a race. Hope that helps!

      GD rub yeah I like WKO, but it’s not something I would recommend to many people to be honest. I found that I was always wishing training peaks had different charts and I was using excel to track a lot of things for my athletes and I. If you are like that then WKO will be great for you. Coros does look ok, but I live in Korea and I've been in contact with them to het one here. The only way I can get it from the US, but Coros is from China, which is close to me! All there research, development etc is done in China...they are a Chinese company! And I'm still waiting on their whitepapers! Great battery life, but man, it's just a fake Garmin reverse engineered in China. Even had a talk with Stryd, they also have no clue where Coros got their algorithm from...dodgy is an understatement!

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  4 года назад

      Yeah there are some things that I wish were more transparent, but the addition of the Stryd integration takes most of the important metrics and records them from Stryd, which I trust a lot. The only thing left that is really important to get right is HR, which I think is a hardware limitation. We’ll see where they go from here
