Anyone who says the jimny is bad as a daily driver has no soul. By far my favourite car I've owned, daily driven in the city during the week and mountains on weekends.
Daily drivability these days seems to be measured on how much a car can make you forget you're even in a car. I however feel like I spend too much time staring at screens and performing simple tasks to really feel very engaged with what I do, and I've decided that driving is the only daily activity I have left that actually requires some intellectual input. The Jimny is one of those cars that provides that. Instead, people complain when they're put in a state of mind where they actually have to think about what they're doing, and then we all wonder why our lives are so bloody depressing.
@@Munkenba I couldn't agree with you more mate. For those of us who still find the basic task of driving a car to be a source of joy in our lives, simple and engaging cars like the jimny are far nicer than the lifeless void many of the other models occupy.
@@andrewharvey5572 They're fairly tough, however the driveline can be a weaker point if you don't drive with a degree of mechanical sympathy. As long as you are reasonably gentle, they'll last.
@@andrewharvey5572 Dave, you can´t really punish a jeep as much as you think; don´t get me wrong, jeeps are the best, but it comes at a price, driving train repairs are costly and some parts don´t last as long as one would like. Jeeps suspensions are really, really good, but that requires many pieces, and sadly that means many fail points, Jeeps are high maintenance cars; if you can afford it enjoy the ride. I switched from a Jeep to a 2019 Jimny, just with the gas I save I can cover lots of repairs, but to be honest I don´t expect it to be worst than my previous ride. Now, as a daily driver? I expected it to be my weekend toy, but now i´m using it almost every day.
I daily mine and not to this review is completely inaccurate, I will say it’s a bit over exaggerated because I’ve driven a fair share of luxury cars yet I’m happy to use it on road everyday . And it makes me smile every time. It’s a fun run around which he’s failed to articulate.
I have the lowest spec VW Polo 2013 and everything he described basically matches my Polo apart from space, my Polo has loads more space but I'd buy this in a second, I really want one because it's so basic and utilitarian and just looks amazing.
I'm at nearly 3K Miles in my SZ5, and would say the only thing I can "agree with" is the gears... It should have had a 6th gear, Other than that I'm more than satisfied, in fact over joyed. It is the DB's In the only snow we have had around here this year I took it up a "steep" track, no drama... apart from the bemused walkers. You buy a Jimny because you know what it's about, and what it's for... Simples
All the reviews from car experts made my on road experience way better than I expected. They give it some grief but I really enjoy the on road ride. It’s fun. I even got the ‘sluggish’ automatic. I guess if it’s your job to review cars you’ll pick up on a lot things an everyday driver like me doesn’t. I love every second behind the wheel.
I picked up my Jimny 3 months ago and it is a total hoot to drive, this is my daily drive car and I totally love it warts and all, it has totally exceeded all my expectations
I've had two Jimnys, both JX models that had no power steering and not even electric windows. I can't fault them off road and on road they were both fun and a pleasure to drive. I'm looking forward to a 3rd Jimny when these new models have dropped to my budget.
Now do the same review and same route in a Lamborghini Aventador, and see just how good and important the quality of materials and massive power is? The SZ5 fully loaded is 18k I've have Range Rovers with more the 18k options, so gets on my goat when they try and make comparison to a luxury SUV...........You either get the Jimny or you don't, and with the 2020 waiting list I would say most people do.
I am told that there is a12 month waiting list for this new Jimmy. It is a pity that Land Rover gave up on the Defender. They should have produced a smaller version with a more efficient engine, similar to the Jimmy and with the Land Rover badge on the back, it would have been a winner. Great pity. Still it is not too late, so if you chaps at Land Rover are listening, think about it. I would buy one and I don’t even need a 4 x 4.
I love how the reviewer. Spends 70 % of the time on interior and luxury items. The Jimney is a pure off roader, remember Land Rover, they used to make them too.pity there’s no diesel variant otherwise I’d be queuing to buy one
It’s not marketed as a pure off-reader, however. Suzuki is trying to sell the Jimny to a broader range of customers (not just off-road enthusiasts), hence why we have to focus an aspects aside from its off-road ability.
@@ParkersTV Are you sure? Jimny brochure is full of offroad photos. It's basically a diary of someone exploring the landscape and all photos of him and his car are all offroad in Iceland. And there's a huge info about all the offroad goodies: angles, hill hold and descent control, brake LSD system, ladder frame, rigid axles, low range 4x4 system. Luxury interior? "Relish the sheer pleasure of simple, straightforward and sensible design. Colours are minimal. Every detail is thoughtfully and attractively crafted to support serious off -roading." That's a quote from the brochure.
in Indonesia there are already thousands of jimny orderers and there are already hundreds of jimny coming from Japan in Indonesia. prices range from 22,365 USD to 23,430 USD
All I hear is if you want a car you can find the limits of and enjoy driving within the speed limits in the nanny states we all live in now than here is your car. Just respect it. . . And don't crash.
Not sure what he is in about. This car is actually really good around town as well. Cabin noise is excellent, unless obviously if you fanging it on a freeway you will hear the motor screaming. But on the road, around the city and town it’s not as bad as he says. Gear shifts are smooth in the manual. The motor is good for the mass it has to move. DOHC helps, it’s not that gutless. Anyway, drive it for yourself and decide. Don’t let this guy tell you it’s crap when not off roading.
To me the real short coming of this new jimny is the rather small fuel tank - an easy fix. Also if you are going to do some real off-roading you’ll need to change the tires - KO2 s come to mind. Lastly a snorkel and making the electronics water-resistant. And maybe a deflector. That’s it.
In nearly fourty years of driving l have had Land Rover S111 109", a Land Rover S111 88", a two door Series 1 Range Rover, a four door series 1 Range Rover, a LWB Suzuki SJ 413, a Land Rover 90" TD5 and a Toyota Hilux pickup, all handled roughly the same on the road, ie like the offroaders they were, the new Jimny isn't any different, it is an offroader with more than acceptable road manners, l know l have just got one.
I've seen about ten reviews, most of which, I thought, glossed over the poor on-road manners and safety rating in favour of its off-road capabilities and looks. After test driving one myself I just felt that the above review was much closer to my, admittedly brief, experience. @@paulward2668

Odd to lead with the safety rating, most of us don't buy cars to crash them, and in fact most of us don't crash. Even the insurance industry reckons we'll only crash once every 18 years, and most of those will be low speed with no injuries reported.
I hope the Updated Jimny comes with a Sunroof_Petrol/TurboDiesel engine_6 Speed Manual/Auto Options :D Kinda like the Duster. It's a really really nice inexpensive off-road vehicle. It just doesn't look as cool as the Jimny
I own the Jimny and engine noise, corner handling are ok. You are exaggerating as every other reviewer on youtube. "Being blown by the wind" is less than driving a renault Kangoo for example. Yes the steering is vague but that's because it's built to go offroad, any real offroader has vague steering.
I'm a huge fan of these little trucksters but will likely not ever have one as Suzuki pulled out of Canada in 2013. That's a shame as here in British Columbia we have something around 30,000 kms of logging, resource, rural and secondary backroads. And many kms of overgrown and decommissioned roads that are best suited for bikes, quads or...little 4x4s that aren't sold here. This vehicle is design from the dirt up. Most of this review is of it's pavement. But thanks for the few minutes of dirt. Dissing the on pavement performance of the Zuki is the same as whining about low ground clearance on an 8 series BMW stuck up to its doors in a bog. Now THAT I'd like to see.

I had one five years ago but it broke my back due to poor suspension and wheel base.i sold it in half price it was that painful to drive and I am a tank regiment officer.
Well then you have backproblems... certainly not from the Jimny. I've driven with the old Jimny and I own the new Jimny. The new one is amazingly comfortable ann sitting is good.

Well maybe it is reliable, maybe not - it's only a couple of years old so far. As to the warranty, well 3 years is unexceptional; Hyundai and Toyota give 5 year warrantys and Kia 7 years.
Did you drive the new Jimny? It's the first car I own and I think that it is amazing, the only think that is needed when you take longer roadtrips would be a 6th gear which it doesn't have.

For 18k I know of no other car that gives as much fizz. And it's great on the pothole ridden roads near my home.

you need to drive a teddy bear...nice and fluffy, or grow a pair !
