@@xiondFirst Problem is, that Land Rover and Jeep are both getting high with luxurious stuff you dont need offroads. All of their cars are slowly turning into "Lets get the kids from daycare"-vehicles, its a shame. More prestige, less usability. I am totally fine with that, but they should atleast add 1-2 models (regular ones, no overpriced Mini-Unimogs for 100k) with the same usability as the Jimny.
@@Dennis-1367 well yeah Jeep Wrangler is the only offroader out there. Landover has too many crap that breaks. I guess Toyota has 4runner which is okay. But, yeah all wheel drive doesn't mean it can off road.
@@Dennis-1367 Jeep had a great Cherokee KK square offroader, now also disappeared :( somehow also reminds me of Jimny because it is quite small and can turn around in narrow places. I have had my New Jimny for 8 weeks... It is awesome. You buy a Jimny because you know what you are buying. It's not a High Feature Discovery/G-Waggon, It's an extremely capable, no frills small 4X4. Brilliant little car. I bought a brand new 1985 Holden Drover soft top which was a rebadged Suzuki Sierra here in Australia. I’ve had a love affair with these little cars since. Great seeing Suzuki is still building these back to basics cars.
Love my Jimny auto. I drive on all sorts of roads and it works well. The only thing is when driving on a highway when it is very windy you have to hold on to the steeringwheel. All in all a great little car.
Great review. You explained the Kei car concept perfectly as most reviewers ignore it or get it wrong. I test drove the Kei version last year in Tokyo and found it perfect around the small city streets. The waiting time for tor the Kei version here in Japan is 6 months and for the Sierra, it's one year! I ordered one in jungle green and expect it at the end of this month. Some reviewers haven't mentioned the diff lock or have complained of its absence. Certainly, it is equipped with a diff lock in Japan as standard. It's also equipped with hill decent and hill start functions, both of which I think i saw buttons for on your test model. "Safety Support" is standard on the highest grade model and optional on the lower two grades here; it comprises collision warning with brake assist and an anti lane departure system. Regarding the infotainment system, the dealers here offer a plethora of big brand options, such as Panasonic, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. There isn't a Suzuki own brand option.
AFAIR there is no differential lock as such. It's an ESP based system, which brakes the wheel without traction. The gearbox has low range though. I don't need or expect a car like the Jimny to come with sat nav in the first place. I know I'm nitpicking here, but for me those 2-DIN alternatives are as bad a choice, as Suzuki's crap infotainment. Especially as this is Suzuki's go-to infotainment in all its models. I assume a car manufacturer gives me the best it can come up with, and if this is the best Suzuki has to offer, I'd rather get a regular stereo, and maybe those off road gauges I mentioned.
In south east Asia, this is THE car. i.e. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines. Simple, cheap, go anywhere rough and tumble durability sells. If you don't live in the big city, this is the sh-t. During rainy season this will still do the job. Nice review Marek!!
Put a deposit down last year, still waiting for confirmation, in no rush just as long as it turns up! This is the first car in 20 years that has genuinely excited me, I could buy a Range Rover at 5x the price and still not get the same fizz. It's a zero BS car, designed for what it's intended . A massive poke in the eye for the Luxury Limousines dressed as a 4x4's.

Parking is fine actually.. when I parallel park I mount the curb without a care in the world and straighten it up with the limited space I have, it's great because I've never found a place I couldn't find a parking spot.. always a little gap or useless wasted space that I refer to as the Jimny spot.

I love the previous generation and this one looks nice and they didn't go crazy with the price either and that's a big improvement with the rear passenger space. I'm anxious to see the new ones as local snow plows in 25 years when the old ones wear out. On the infotainment system, you need a tiny bit more finger pressure when it's cold, works with gloves though.
Yeah.... but I still have my 86 samurai. With the few upgrades I got, I go anywhere any wrangler can... and then some. I'd totally buy this jimny if it made it here to the states. No question.

Thank you for choosing Jimny. It was a very good review video. The back seat is small, but today, a 5-door Jimney will be released in the book. In Japan it is said that Jimny is similar to Mercedes · Benz 's G class. lol
Finally got the Jimny delivered SZ5 in black. It has so many imperfections which makes it perfect. It's slow which makes you enjoy the ride, it's lively and all over the place doing 45 mph down a country road feels like I'm doing 85 mph, it's never a boring ride and makes you have to drive the car. It looks fantastic and there is no cars anywhere near this price range with the performance and off road capability as the Jimny.

Demand for this thing is incredible - I can only imagine what the addition of a soft-top would've meant for demand. Can't believe Suzuki don't offer one - this Jimny's shape would be perfect for a soft-top variant . Not only would it make the car even more unique and desirable, it would also be the perfect holiday hire-car for warm climates. I remember the 80s and 90s when convertible rental SJs/Santanas were everywhere in tourism hotspots all around the Mediterranean.
Lift kit, tyres and lockers and it will climb a tree! LOL these things have always been unstoppable with minor mods and saving enough money to buy a nice road car.
I built a 3 inch lift by doing a spring over axle made and welded new axle perches on my samurai and installed 31.10.50 mud tires on mine plus put two. Lock rite lockers in the front and rear. It's unstoppable. I have never gotten stuck and have always been able to tackle whatever I needed to. And I don't go on any sissy trails either where I wheel at gives Jeep's with way more lift and bigger tires a really hard time. I love my Suzuki I just wish Suzuki didn't go under here in the US 😞
Your video is not taking into consideration the main point why this car is sold out: sure it's a nice offroader, with all the limitations a true offroader has compared with today's cars, but the main selling point is how good it looks!!! The equation price-coolness is the winner here!!!! Also, your review misses a better road riding analysis, which I saw on other reviews is better than expected for a true offroader, and surely better than the old Jimny.
+Gonçalo Areia It looks cute, and many people want to buy it for that reason, but I'm sorry - it's not a city car. It handles like an off roader - i.e. it's crap to drive anywhere else, but off road. And if someone bought it to drive around town, I pity them.
@@MarekDrives Thanks Marek and I see your point! But don't forget that lots of people drive these pure 4x4's like Wrangler's on a daily basis and love it (it's not my case). They just accept the compromise between driving a very cool car that surely is not the best and most comfortable city or road car (with your rationale, people wouldn't drive sports car in the city too). And being this small, the Jimny handles great in the city (already rode one), the comfort level is acceptable and actually not that bad, has a small turning radius, needs not too much parking space (even if the steering is not great) and also the fact that road holes, sidewalks and other hostile city environment will never destroy it. One final confession: I'm on the waiting list for a (hopefully) May2019 deliver of a Jimny Mode3. Cheers!
I respect some people want to buy this for its off road prowess, but those people don't need convincing. I will stand by my opinion that Jimny is a terrible idea for a city car, because of the steering. Turning the wheel more than 360 degrees to get into a parking spot is ridiculous! I'd say Ignis is just as quirky looking, and a much better choice for city runabout.
The reviewer was harsh on the jimny. Your driving a damn 4x4, the steering will always be slightly vague. It certainly doesnt turn like a lorry, so a silly comment imo. Plus on-road it is very good for a 4x4. Your 0-60 mph is way off. Jimny has been clocked numerous times under 12.5 seconds, not 14. Another point, the infotainment system is par for the course, my VW polo has the same issue in the cold so no major shock there. The infotainment screen also plays video in 780p, so not too out of date and shabby. HARSH...JUST HARSH
Fuel tank capacity is 40 but the reserve tank takes up 7-10 of that.. when my range says it's 60-80km I top up.. and it says it's full after 25L which is frustrating, none the less it's actually not too horrible on fuel.
I really like it. A fun little car. I'd pick it in a color that stands out more though. Nice info about the keicar concept in the beginning and footage afterwards. I wonder what you friend thought about the car.
This is not a car for family usage, but an amazing car for off-road purpose. It is simple and cheap, no worries of breaking fancy gears. It is reliable, just there. Also, more fun is found in modifying, can be a toy for big boys.
Great video Marek, I really love the look of this car and the thought of owning one. HOWEVER, every review mirrors what you say. That’s a real shame. I did wonder what some steel wheels, fatter tyres and slightly lifted suspension would be like. As for the price; in the UK these things are going for crazy money. Great video 👍
The Jimny is a brilliant little Car. I get annoyed when I listen to commentators comparing it to general road cars because it isn't ( and never was ) designed for anything other than off roading. They need All Terrain tyres 215 x 75 x 15 and a 50mm lift and these things will go ANYWHERE that much larger and much heavier 4x4's will go for a much cheaper price.
It's called autokatalog.samar.pl. There's also a mobile app. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.samar.catalogue itunes.apple.com/pl/app/auto-katalog-samar/id1361950238?mt=8 It's still in development, and for now it's in Polish only. The effect you're looking for is called "Widmo" in Polish.
It’s too perfect it’ll never make it here Some dumbass will Americanize it and then it will be too expensive and worthless. They’ll turn it into another soccer mom SUV.
The Jimmy is a strong well built vehícle and will endure for décades as did its previous models. The comparison with the DUSTER is then ridiculous, a DUSTER is nice on the road but it is a frágile construction which starts making irritating noises early in its life , as in 20,000 kms. By when it reaches 40,000 km not only the noises are louder but the fittings come loose and everything needs attention. So, comparing the two is like comparing🍎 and 🍊.
I am astounded how scared this guy is at driving this Jimny on the highway. I've driven a 1988 Suzuki Samurai extensively on the highway with about half the power if the new Jimny. It's capable and not scary, just slightly short on power. It's a very fun vehicle on the road.
If only they hadn't gotten the bad wrap from that "journalist magazine" on how samurais were unstable under a moose test. It eventually came out that they lied horribly and actually greatly increased speed to make it fail their testing. Once this information came out the damage was already done and suzuki eventually pulled out of the US market entirely with no real intention on coming back any time soon.
For mud you have to maintain momentum because there's no traction through the tough spots. Stopping all the time just makes it harder to get going again. It's probably not a good place to start learning 4WD, even though this track would not be too difficult for an experienced driver. It takes a short moment for the brake traction control to come into play, and you need to stay on it with the clutch peddle fully out. Constant clutch and revving is why the brake traction control did nothing in this example. Brake traction control only works in low range.
I use it as an everyday car. It's great in town and beareble for trip. It is that you go slow and cornering is awful, but most of people drive evene slower and do cornering even worse (and they drive BMWs). At least - slow driving is not as boring that is with a normal car. Interesthing thing is, I can't get my wife out of it, saying driving it is a real fun. Parking is a joy - no need to care about the kerbsides, holes in the road and you see everything. And when the pavement vanish, real fun begins. It's robust built is a great thing. It seems unbreakable. It's not soooo slow and economy is great for that kind of car. Out of town I usually make 6,5 - 6,8 l/100 km Drivers position is totaly egonomic. Everythig is at hand. Entrace is easy, visability around is as good as in Toyota IQ. And that was the best visability I have ever seen. Next great thing are windows with small angles. Dashboard therefore is reasonably narrow (not 1m wide like at golf, for example - all the wasted space!!) Direct sun does not heat the inside very much, because of small angle of front glass. air condition therefore is extremly efficiant, but you can do wihout it, too. Steam comming out of my thigs in climatizated but to strong sunshine exposed golf (direct sunshine on my legs trough driving window) is now just an ugly memory.
I have a 2016 Prado Landcruiser which is awesome in every way as it’s old school simple and a great family car. I will be buying a Suzuki Jimny because it’s old school simple, functional off road and cool looking. Great weekender for a bit of fun, getting around the farm with a bail of hay or commuting to work. You sum yourself up when you comment on getting dirty when reaching the Ariel. As long as it had an internal mirror you would be fine...🤣😂😅

Jimny is OTG car, night/day, snow/rain, it’s 24*7 if you know what you’re gonna use it for.
Love this car wish it was available in the US
You are the best offroad driver Marek and your wife is laughing in the background tsss. I like the Jimny - nice toy
It's actually not my wife, but let's not get into whose wife and what :-)
excellent review Marek, thank you very much,
You have a new subscriber! 💪 Keep the good work!
I like the new Jimny...I have a 2016 model
Lift kit, tyres and lockers and it will climb a tree! LOL these things have always been unstoppable with minor mods and saving enough money to buy a nice road car.
i guess the thing we learned today, if u want to go serious off roading buy an old tractor
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao you made me snort

This blue one is beautiful.
this was a very detailed and informed review on Jimny, thank you
I built a 3 inch lift by doing a spring over axle made and welded new axle perches on my samurai and installed 31.10.50 mud tires on mine plus put two. Lock rite lockers in the front and rear. It's unstoppable. I have never gotten stuck and have always been able to tackle whatever I needed to. And I don't go on any sissy trails either where I wheel at gives Jeep's with way more lift and bigger tires a really hard time. I love my Suzuki I just wish Suzuki didn't go under here in the US 😞
Suzuki must keep a solid front axle as an option!
What an interesting review. Very interesting and well done!
Agreed, the whole point of the car is completely missed in this video
Anchor points are available from Suzuki in all markets, they're cheap and effective.
This is not a car for family usage, but an amazing car for off-road purpose. It is simple and cheap, no worries of breaking fancy gears. It is reliable, just there. Also, more fun is found in modifying, can be a toy for big boys.
The original LJ10 was sooo cool!!!
8:53 in the back another really cool Offroader: Audi 80B3
my dream car jimny most honest and humble car
Great video Marek, I really love the look of this car and the thought of owning one. HOWEVER, every review mirrors what you say. That’s a real shame. I did wonder what some steel wheels, fatter tyres and slightly lifted suspension would be like. As for the price; in the UK these things are going for crazy money. Great video 👍
Great review! The Jimny is a cheap, small, reliable, and capable car that has made compromises to get to that point.
If they brought this to the states I'd buy one new off the lot now!
Very good review
Great review
Which program/app are you using for the 360° views like at minute 6:05 ?
It's called autokatalog.samar.pl. There's also a mobile app.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.samar.catalogue
itunes.apple.com/pl/app/auto-katalog-samar/id1361950238?mt=8
It's still in development, and for now it's in Polish only. The effect you're looking for is called "Widmo" in Polish.
we in INDIA are dying for this car.....dear suzuki please bring it to india ASAP.
North America is saying: "TAKE MY MONEY!!!"
...and US automakers will fight fight fight to ensure it never sees American shores for another two decades.
It’s too perfect it’ll never make it here Some dumbass will Americanize it and then it will be too expensive and worthless. They’ll turn it into another soccer mom SUV.
This car will sell successfully. Suzuki have an ear for customers needs.
さすが、世界で愛されるジムニーです。🚘
Good honest review. I think I would get one if still living in Japan.
Well said that it is one of the last true 4x4 vehicles.
I am astounded how scared this guy is at driving this Jimny on the highway. I've driven a 1988 Suzuki Samurai extensively on the highway with about half the power if the new Jimny. It's capable and not scary, just slightly short on power. It's a very fun vehicle on the road.
Too bad Suzuki dont import those stateside! I bealieve they would sell like hot cakes! I would buy two! They look like a mini land rover defender.😎👍
I would buy one , but 15 k is what I’d pay
@@bannablitz247 That was decades ago, Americans need to seriously get over branding
Good video! Nice polish forrest road track well chosen.
the best complete review Suzuki Jimny in all RUclips, thanks.
Wow, thanks!
Good that they are using West Bengal cars for reviews.
I appreciate. Really true review.
Glad it was helpful!
Super review and well done.

This colour looks best for the new Jimny
I have a 2016 Prado Landcruiser which is awesome in every way as it’s old school simple and a great family car. I will be buying a Suzuki Jimny because it’s old school simple, functional off road and cool looking. Great weekender for a bit of fun, getting around the farm with a bail of hay or commuting to work. Your complaints are mostly technology related which means not a lot when you are trying to get away from technology at the weekend or want to simply drive without the distractions. You sum yourself up when you comment on getting dirty when reaching the Ariel. As long as it had an internal mirror you would be fine...🤣😂😅
I wish we could get that little gem in the state's.
Hello Marek, very good review once again, can you tell me what is the website used for caparison on minute 6:03?
Autokatalog.samar.pl it's still in beta, so Polish only, but I guess other language versions will appear in the future.
@@MarekDrives Thank you, it's very interesting. Polish is not a problem since google can translate it :D

Awesome review.
The only front and rear solid axel car in this price range !
Nice review, was expecting everything to be fine and dandy. And the fuel economy could have been 5,5 or 6,5 on country roads...
Great car, but in finland, goverment likes to take quite a piece from cars. Same car here in finland, ~27000€ new. :'(
I live in the central honshu mountains area of Japan. Maybe 40% of cars here are kei Jimnys, and another 40% Suzuki kei trucks !
ziomek ,i love this car ,great review thx
4wd steering is set up differently to road cars thats why all the moving from side to side, also short wheel base suits off road if you want to drive fast buy a road car, I still have my Ferosa btw.
This also has solid axels, which doesn't help on-road handling.
Feroza was cool in its own way.
