    This little Beastie is going to SELL LIKE HOTCAKES! The Defender is gone now, The G-wagen way too expensive for most, and most 'SUV's are the wrong shape , with mild 4x4 capabilities due to overhangs and poor traction . These Jimneys are perfect! Lets see some crazy colours and lots of videos of offroading in these cheeky little jeeps!

      Even though the G Wagon sells for 10x the money, the Jimny looks just as at home in the city as the G Wagon. It's just SO cool. Wouldn't be surprised if we see one on Keeping Up With The Kardashians! 😂

      General George S. Patton Jr., Fiat has a "past" with Fiat. It resulted in a very nice (and totally marketed wrong) mini crossover named Fiat Sedici/Suzuki SX-4. There was a bit of bad blood between the marques and I think that would be the reason they wouldn't be supportive of them here.

    I had a 1990 model in Australia, bought it new for AUD13K and it was the best car I ever had. It never had a service in 10 years, only oil changed annually, and never skipped a beat the whole time. On the 10th year the battery went and the mechanic who replaced it said only the Japanese would make a Battery that lasted 10yrs, and it was the size of a motorbike battery! It handled off road better than all my mates Land-cruisers, Jeeps and Rovers, I could get into much tighter tracks then them and it just skipped over mud because is so light. Cant wait to see the new model here, although seems like its going to price itself out of the market now.

      While i think your jeep maitainance stinks i have to agree with you on battery.. my original battery from factory gave up after 10years and that is only becayse i managed to discharge it by accident by a 120 w led light bar which got turned on at a music festival while i slept.. got jump started alright but it just would not take full charge after that.. i hope the new battery last half as long again..

    I started on an LJ80 in 1981 when living in Peru, then when back in UK a couple of SJ410s , then SJ413s (inc long wheel base), then a couple of Jimnys. All basically built on the same platform. In recent years have moved onto Grand Vitara then the new Vitara, but this little diamond will definitely tempt me back to my roots....small and very capable off roader that can handle anything. Who cares about speed and handling! I used to love that steering. Great review, just a shame they are not producing in greater numbers.

    • @mikecrowley3102
      @mikecrowley3102 5 лет назад

      Yep, I also had an SJ years back , loved the quirkiness and bought a Jimny in 99......Great fun, but Unfortunately it was the soft top version which was a bit of a pain in the butt if you wanted to use the boot ..So, after 3 years I traded it in for a Grand Vitara ….. Liked that as well but the dealership were a pain ,so, I changed brands . .. I do far more road use than off road and I recently purchased a Dacia Duster Mk2 and that is excellent... Huge compared to the Suzuki , but capable off road … Massive boot space and really comfortable ride … Uses mostly old , tried & tested Renault mechanicals so good reliability …. And , they start from £10,000 !.... Mine was the next spec up (Essential) and £11,800 … Fantastic value for money but , a 4 month waiting time from ordering as every vehicle built is sold and built to the req'd spec.

      rabit818 Exactly. Suzuki also has some other unique cars. For someone who wants a vehicle that reminds them of the old CJ. Suzuki should tour some vehicles around the country asking the public about it. Also, if Mahindra can sell the Jeepish Roxor off to a good start, the Jimny would likely have a good start here as well.

    I live in NZ, where these little beasties have been legendary ever since the little three-cylinder, nine hundred and something cc SJ410 back in the eighties. I had a clapped out, 1988, SJ412 ragtop which I bought in 1996 and then spent a couple of months rebuilding the engine and gearbox. I had more fun in that than in any car I’ve owned in 57 years of driving. It really could go anywhere. IMO, these Suzis are the ultimate off-roader. You should have seen it climbing over boulders on our local beach. Neither a SWB Landie nor a Jeep were able to make it across, while the Suzi’s smaller footprint made it able to perch on rocks that they both bottomed out on.
    Also, we once rescued a Landcruiser with an 18 ft boat behind it, which had sunk up to its axles in sand when a wave washed under it as they were recovering their boat. I had an elastic “Snatchstrap” and we popped that rig out, no problem. Earned ourselves a big crayfish and a snapper from some very relieved fishermen, who couldn’t believe that our little “toy” was so capable. Happy days.

      Update, dealer has communicated that "medium grey, kinetic yellow and black" due to paint problems at the factory and that I could still have the flat-grey one ordered if I wait till September!
      The car was due to be delivered in the next 10 days so there seems to be a lack of communication going on (how long does a car take to get onto a ship and sail to Grimsby) at this late stage, only option left was to switch to Metallic Silver and stump up an extra £495 so the colour of choice is no more.
      Seems they have substituted Silver cars for the unavailable colours but would have done that weeks ago.
      Noticed on the Suzuki configurator that Jungle Green has disappeared as well as Medium Grey and that the list price has jumped +£500 in the last few days.
      So effectively on the plus side the switch to metallic has not really cost me anything and prevented a +9 month wait if this revised one turns up as promised.

      @@graemepilkington3080 This shit confuses the feck outta me. Suzuki has many many comm's problems. For example, dealers have given me 2 different time frames on availability. One said 8 months and another says 5. The manual describes two different functions in vague language (dual sensor brake support vs dual camera brake support)??. Accessories are offered which give red mud flaps for the SZ5 and black for the SZ4 - WHY NOT COLOUR CHOICE FOR BOTH!. And accessories for one, is not offered for the other, which seems ridiculous, also the green would be awesome, but that has vanished from the main site. This colour thing you mention...WTF?? Paint problems on a hot selling car such as this?? GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER SUZUKI. I will be in a position to buy this car within 5 months, but i have no clue as to whether i will be able to obtain one by that time, and the dealers are clueless too. I love this motor, but the inconstancy and guess work involved is off-putting. Also why the frick has the auto only got 4 ratio's?? And no reviews of the auto models are available. Venting complete ;-) Best of luck with your motor, im sure you'll love it. Andy.
