They steal technology from Europe and America via Israel. They also caught buying American aircraft parts from Israel bypassing the American embergo.
Since they saw what happened to Iraq and Saddam, they spend every dime they have in military equipment and even build some military helicopters in iran, but not for civilian use. These choppers are old American birds that was sold to Shah of iran in late 1960s. They can not find parts for them so they have to rely on home made parts manufactured by reverse engineering.
Flying a helipopter in those conditions is like playing minecraft with a render distance of 4. Absurd!

Good grief. A helicopter is probably from the 60s in dense fog in mountainous terrain. As a former helicopter mechanic, I can almost guarantee it was pilot error.

@@Thedrunkenswede1337 I think Russian helicopters are pretty rugged. An Mi-8 has a tad more range than a Bell 212. Also Iran has managed to reverse engineer and cobble spare parts to keep their F-4's and F-14's flying. That's a tougher job I think than "updating" a Bell 212. In my opinion Iran was flying the 212's because they wanted to, not because they had to.
