Does anyone else hear the similarity in the voice of the traffic warden saying "throw it away then Mr money bags" or is that just me 😄 cool vid, looks professional!!
The wood I used was off my shed roof and didn't cost me anything, the posts I had in my garage 😊 it was only the paint and screws I paid for which totaled around £12. If you have to buy the timber it will cost more. I hope this helps.
I honestly didn't mean for this to be misleading, I am trying to encourage people to use there old scraps to make beautiful items and not to go out buying new bits of wood. Paint and screws £12 🙂
If you take your time and just plan a little you can do it 😊 have a look at other ideas and see if you can find a simpler design. I really do think taking your time is key when attempting somthing new x
Standard plywood delaminates when damp, I suspect these planters won’t last. I used wood from pallets, it’s free and it was still solid after several years. I’m making some with decking boards, more expensive but much more durable.
Yeah the cost of materials is sky high at the moment, I try to recycle timber in nearly all of my DIY projects to save money. These will degrade over time so the plan is to build round them using breeze blocks and render for a more permanent fixture without having to disturb the plants. 😊🌴I'm glad your enjoying my DIY videos Michael 😊

DO NOT use water based paint, latex is NOT waterproof. I mean, LATEX is. But latex PAINT is a water based paint. It is also not UV stabilized and will rot away in the sun pretty fast, split, and peel away. Unless you applied enough coats it is basically becoming a giant slab of plastic in its own right. But that'll still take a hit from the sun.
Hi they have just been through the wettest winter here in the UK, I have quite a few palms and tropical lily's planted in them on the coldest night - 5I went to check the soil and it wasn't frozen below the decorative stones so they are doing a great job of insulating the plants from cold. Also these planters have no bases they are directly onto the ground with a waterproof membrane separating the contact to the soil... Drainage is perfect with them. Thank you for your comment 😊
Looks brilliant mate, Whats under the weed protector. What did you fill the planter box with to raise the inside up? As I'm putting some artificial plants in so don't need to fill it all up, some advice please
Hi I filled with compost made at a relatives allotment mixed with top soil, if using artificial plants you could raise them using a frame built to the desired height. I hope this helps 😊
This may seem like a stupid question but do you have to fill them completely to add plants? Could I put a bottom about half way and only fill from there ? Depending on the plant of course and how much depth they need
Consider filling it with wood off cuts , garden debree.... it is called fugal culture ( but totally spelt that wrong. It is German technique) Hope that is of some help.
Hi go with scoffing boards, I used my old shed roof plywood but only because I want to recycle it. You can get the boards from ebay or have a look on fb marketplace in your area 😊
But there no base to them? So once they’re filled they couldn’t be moved and if you tried all the compost inside would be left underneath plus weeds from lawn would grow up to the plants

Ooo tricky, I wonder if you could have a tall planter at the lowest point of the slope and gradually make the planters shorter as they come up the slope to level things out. Tricky one, maybe do some drawings of what you want to achieve it always helps to plan ahead and drawings are a great way to visualise what you want

OK weI used the ply wood because it was going to be thrown away and I like to reuse old wood to save more trees from being cut down 😊🥦, you could get some used scaffold boards they do them in 13ft and some people will deliver them they would make a large planter you can use the scaffold boards for the whole build, so cut ends off and double up to use as supports, then waterproof the whole lot. I would estimate you could make it for £40 depending what you pay for the boards. I hope this helps x

Hi, if treated properly to protect from moisture they can last many years. I made these from plywood to reuse old timber that would normally get burnt or thrown away I do mention that you can use alternative timber if you wish and just follow the design size and shape wise, I like to re use materials that would normally be scrapped it does have some impact on global pollution saving more trees from being cut down 😊🥦
You can use any exterior wood paint or even masonry paint for the external Finnish, try wilcos masonry paint they is great for the price.
