I don’t see the point of concreting the base. Just lay footing for the wall. Now you have a barrier at the bottom of your planter and no earth worms can migrate into your planter soil.
I want to do a rock planter and this video really help me out. I just wonder why did you concrete the whole planter ground? Would not be better to have soil underneath for the plants to root deeper? Thanks you.
I understand the reasoning for cementing the bottom in an attempt to thwart diggers and ants but, if you don’t make the walls tall enough, they can jump, climb or crawl over if they want to bad enough. Still, I love your idea and it is just beautiful! P.S. I’m in Texas and fire ants took over my raise bed and killed my broccoli. Hope you have better luck.
Nice work! How come you concreted the whole bottom area and not do strip foundations? Wouldn’t the planter need soil from the bottom. Looks Smart though!
Excellent video, thanks. This is probably a stupid question, I don't have much DIY experience. Is there a cover over the main vertical pipe before the earth goes in?
Gotta built one of these myself this year. I'm no brickie, my trade is plastering! Thanks for the vid, it's a good heads-up for me. Nice to see guys doing a proper job.
Incredible. I'm Irish, alot of us fellas over here have a pair of hands and are well able to work. But my God your work is tasty..bloody brilliant! Love it...keep it up Clive! Subscribed immediately when I saw this master of his craft 👏
You didn’t need the cement base cause now you have poor drainage
Why You put a concrete at the bottom.... It's not necessary..

is the cement underneath really necessary? My plan was just to lay down some landscaping fabric and use lawn-staples to keep the fabric down
