This video describes the method that I used to correct the hull for the Trumpeter 1/350 USS Texas and Trumpeter 1/350 USS New York. Scale Model Workshop website: scale-model-workshop.com/
Hello! Trumpeter can indeed be very frustrating... You really have to want it in order to build (correctly) one of their kits 🙂. But they are not hopeless, as you very well show us here. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I honestly admire you for having the guts, experience and will to make these changes. I tried this once with a 1/48 Su-27, didn't really play out well, and to be honest it stresses me a great deal. I'm not saying I'll never be on this level, I'm just saying you're a modeling god :D
Considering the U.S.S. Texas is still around and available , there really is NO excuse for such inaccuracies! They can laser scan the ship where she sits and have a perfect computer image of her. Being the ONLY WWI era dreadnought to still exist, there should be several kits available of her, in different scales, and of very fine detail.
So many issues in such an expensive kit! Surely scratch building would be better? You're first attempt might be awful. But it'll be fun. And you'll be happier with every new project.
Nice video, Paul. Sorry to get on my soapbox but I just can't understand why Trumpeter can't never seem to get things right! Research is not THAT hard to do yet these Chinese companies have no problem slapping a kit in a box, sending it to market and expecting us to pay a sky-high premium for it, accuracy be damned. Of course Trumpeter isn't alone as Hobbyboss and Kitty Hawk have released a few pricey stinkers as well. These Chinese model makers need to have a "come to Jesus" meeting if they plan to stay in the ring. I've built several models from Japan and European countries that have spot-on accuracy and are engineered so well they practically fall together on their own. Price aside if China isn't careful they're going to lose bigtime!
Help! Nobody will sell me the dental acrylic powder, you need to be a dentist and have an account with a dental supply company. How about you buy a big old industrial size one and re package them for us non dentist modelers?
Thank you for sharing your techniques with us. I am constantly amazed at the creativity and craftsmanship you bring to your models.

Just ordered this kit as my first step into the field. Suddenly I feel a bit in over my head.
Really great and informative videos. Do you explain in more detail in another video how you use the dental resin and zaper glue?
Hi, thank you so much for the videos. You are a wonderful teacher! Could you please tell me which miniature drill tool you used for cutting/drilling?
Thank you Aleksander ...I explain what I use and some other alternatives here ... ruclips.net/video/L1bFscCJjh8/видео.html
Please make more ships tutorial! Thx
Just out of curiosity... Are you re-uploading some of your "old" videos?
I don't mind though. It does refresh the memory. Especially at my old age.
Yes, I will be adding back much of the old content as well as new videos. Too many of them have become reference on other sites.
Good idea. Thank you.
