Great looking build! I have a very personal attachment to the Texas. My Uncle was the Navigational Officer and was there at D-Day. I was able to have some interesting talks with him about D-Day.
I really enjoyed the video. I have this one in my stash and now I want to get it out and have a look. My son and I toured the Texas 15 or so years ago. It was suffering badly from rust below the water line. It was moved to dry dock last summer for repairs. It's great its being saved.
@@Johnbuildsiconic they are having some glitches right now on exactly when they are going to move her. Its about a 3 hour flight for me . If they finally get this set in stone I can make all of the arrangements for flight car and hotel room. Planning on visiting for a couple of days to tour the battlefield memorial also.
Interesting concept on the paint job, very creative and thoughtful. Don't know much about waterborne craft and was intrigued as to what happened to the original craft. Was delighted to see her still afloat. Nice etch work on the model too 👌
I have both this and the New York sitting on the shelf, waiting to be built. Sentimental reasons, I was born in New York, and I live in Houston, Texas, not too far from where the Texas is currently moored. Soon, she will go into dry dock for repairs to her hull, and then be moved to a new permanent berth, somewhere near Houston.
Superb video with a great soundtrack. Your skills really shine through on this warship. How about a flower class destroyer (maybe do one to represent the Cruel Sea’s “Compass Rose”?)
Great video, she's beautiful! Can wait to see the build of USS Hawaii CB-3 heavy cruiser. I live in Hawaii so it would be great to see your build video. To bad that she was never completed. It would have been toss up as to which of the ships would be sitting in Pearl Harbor now, the Mighty Mo or Hawaii.
Thank you for your comment, video build of Hawaii will be ready for the end of April. Love Hawaii and I hope to visit one day. Love a tour of Pearl Harbor
@@Johnbuildsiconic Yes, you will love it for sure! Been on board the Missouri twice, once when she as was still on active duty and the second time as she sits now a museum.
thank you dave, my channels got alot bigger over the last two years, and im very proud of the uss texas build, its was my first plastic model i had built in over 20 years,
Is that glue you are using the paint brush with in the beginning or something else? I have an issue with glue dollops so wondering if you are using the brush to spread or even glue out or for something else?
hi my friend, i just use cheap brushers for the plastic glue, that you get with painting by numbers sets, so after i day or so of glueing, i just use a new one
awesome music taste john loooks brilliant what is the link for your airbrush as i have recently invested in a few of these air kits i have a plane and ship at moment the little blue plane is lush really like that throughly enjoyed watching this video beautofully done
hi mike, i use a bratsharp 186 airbrush, i think there sold out everywhere nowadays. but you visit bartsharp.com and have a look at there range of items

Thank you Jim, I bet your uncle had some fantastic story’s to tell
Excellent ... just beginning to work on a Trumpeter 1/700 USS TEXAS ...
Thank you and Good luck my friend, my eyes can’t see at 1/700 scale

Thank you, and I’m also watching the restoration of the Texas with great interest
Beautiful rendering of the old girl , I'm planning on going to visit her when they move her to drydock for repairs
Thank you George, wish I could join you on that visit, I will get there one day

Thank you for doing her justice, what a beautiful job you did. She's the only dreadnought left in the world and I've walked her decks many times.
Thank you Steven, I hope to walk her decks one day in the near future
Amazing she is in dry dock.
I’m currently building the USS New York and it’s my first attempt with a kit with so much photo etch. Some of it came out well while some fair.
Interesting concept on the paint job, very creative and thoughtful.

I’ve not long ago watched the day dock arrive, I’m really pleased the Texas will be around for many more years to come
Wow she looks amazing
Thank you travis
That was a beautiful build!!!
Thank you my friend
The national ensign goes at the stern just like all the Bristish ships. But, what a great job, thanks for a swell video, I enjoyed it.
Thank you Edward, ye I mentioned in the video, how I made the mistake of following the instructions for the flag placement
Wish me luck😅. My last model was a 1/700 cv-5 Yorktown 14 years ago and i Just picked up this exact kit today!
Good luck, It’s a great kit, but enjoy building the tons of photo etch parts
Absolutely beautiful. Meticulous build, I totally enjoyed watching your work. Also, your video editing, narration and music selection is superb.
Thank you my friend
Beautiful build
Thank you 🙏

Great build. US flag goes on the stern. Jack on the bow. My only critique.
Hi Carl, Ye I spoke about the mistake with the flags at the end of the video
Great intro John and great build

Came out great!! and colors 👍👍😎
Glad you enjoyed the build my friend
New intro very good John , most pleasant watching.
Thank you Steve, I’ve been looking at adding a intro to the channel for some time
Love the paintwork John. Great video too.
Thank you John, this was my first plastic model build in over 25years. And I hadn’t used an airbrush for detail work in a long time
Is that glue you are using the paint brush with in the beginning or something else? I have an issue with glue dollops so wondering if you are using the brush to spread or even glue out or for something else?
Hi, I just like the control I get from using a longer brush to apply the glue
@@Johnbuildsiconic I will give that a try!
Hi John , new to your channel, nice build. What do you use to clean your brushs of the glue.
