      @Brad.Atv. haha true that, 40 whp would be nice. Lithium battery and different exhaust will get the weight close to the og drz. I'll keep trashing my trusty old tt600re sm (also 50hp 150 kg wet). Nothing beats old school simple air cooled thumpers

      @shawnp.9516 2 месяца назад

      That would be the win. Be cool to gain 5 maybe 10 hp off just a tune. And the bike will run perfect. I think, since they already have 3 modes to ride with you can def upload a new map and open it up

      @Thanatos2996 2 месяца назад +3

      EFI means it will be choked for emissions, that’s unavoidable on anything street legal, but an ECU flash or swap is generally good for a lot and the aftermarket is usually pretty quick to offer a solution there.

    Since the very first DRZ400 was sold over 20 years ago, owners have asked suzuki to fix one thing. The gearbox ! 20 years, and they couldn't fix the one thing it needed. 38hp and riding modes 😂, no 6 speed😂,traction😂.

    • @jtjt210
      @jtjt210 2 месяца назад +4

      EFI is definitely nice (but frankly, I never had problems with carbs). No increase to 6 speed (STILL a 5 speed) which was a frequent request by many users/potential users and HP and Torque (and their peak value rpms) basically the same values as the old model, yet the bike appears to be 15lbs/7kg HEAVIER than the older bike. The only reason I'm waiting for this to come out is so that the price drops on the used DRZ400s that are likely to have similar performance, but less complexity (do I really need different modes on a 38hp motor???) and importantly less weight. I'm sure if I rode it I'd feel differently and I'd be shocked if it wasn't a good bike but based on what I see so far why, but why is this particularly interesting or even news? It appears to be a mild refresh at best, (bringing it into the 2020s and current emissions rules), and is candidly a bit disappointing at least from my perspective. (The S now appears to have inverted forks so that's something (arguably more aesthetic for most riders than anything) I suppose)
      I suspect this is going to be a fun bike, but at least for me I'm hoping it means used DRZ400s at a lower price :)

    Well it seam actually heavier not lighter. Only slightly more power where mine is modded and has 45hp to the ground on a dyno. Should have listened to us all. Not one, not even some guy who knows nothing has always said we want a 6 speed transmission. That should have been a no brainer. Or at minimum should have been made into a wide ratio transmission versus its current close ratio. And not made it even taller. Now it has the tallest seat if any dual sport available today. Crazy who these guys missed all the marks. The only thing they did right was make it EFI and a Full ABS off botton. Crazy, the biggest motorcycle company of all companies would miss this by that much. Wel i will just buy a new or low mileage engine when my 2011 finally stops running. 55,000 miles and no issues yet.

    • @Charon58

      It is pretty simple. A six speed box would require basically a completely new engine, not the refurbished old engine. That would put the bike in a price range that would hurt sales. Hopefully they have spread the ratios enough that (with the broader powerband) it accomplishes nearly the same thing. The fuel injection is nice but I would have liked the option of paying for or not paying for the ABS and traction controls. Those alone are going to add a grand to the cost and for me would be a pass. I’m looking to see the new bikes cost over 10K. The upside is the left over ‘24 DRZs may get discounted and that is how they’ll get my money.

  • @fabz325
    @fabz325 2 месяца назад +9

    if yall want more power and gears go get a 450RL and F off. its the first year with the fuel injection, which EVERYONE has been complaining about. take it for what it is and keep your eye out for the next couple years once they improve. true drz riders like the bike for what it is! perfect power and weight ratio while being a tank. im glad they didnt lose sight of their original body/engine designs.

    • @Wooskii1
      @Wooskii1 2 месяца назад +1

      I half agree with you and I guess it's okay if the price stays the same, and we can get a little extra power out of the new FI system without new issues...
      I did like it for being a simple/ cheap/ reliable bike (10 years ago) and I will keep my eye on it, but I just can't F off and act excited for little more than new emissions management. I definitely won't be buying or recommending the new DRZ any time soon. Go ahead and roast me but I moved on from a '04 DRZ to a '04 450-EXC and that's what I would recommend for a cheap bike (I paid about half of what I bought and sold the DRZ for and it had about half the miles and hours). 450RL is noticeably heavier and pricier...
      Sure old EXCs might not have the stellar reliability track record or the huge parts availability, but mine hasn't yet skipped a beat and it performs better in every way hands down and I already feel like I got my $$$ out of it if it blows up tomorrow (not too shabby for the price of a few common mods).
      I guess that's my long way of saying (as a long time DRZ fan) "now that the DRZ finally has some competition I can't help wanting to see Suzuki go toe to toe, or outright crushing it."

    • @Wooskii1
      @Wooskii1 Месяц назад

      @@chrro466 The argument for a 6th gear is about street capability, and almost nobody can ride a bike to its full capacity. The 3x3 mod is popular for a reason.
