I've been really busy with work, so I decided to take an evening to shoot a roll of medium format film on my nephew's Mamiya c220. It's bigger than the Yashica 635 I'm used to shooting with. I also developed and did a "scan" of the negatives that night. B&W photography is so simple and easy to do yourself.
I love shooting with TLR camera they are quirky and tricky unique. Almost like holding a fancy toy that was very well built 😮 thanks for the video
Aaah, the beauty of film processing. Your video made me miss it so much! Excellent work. Subscribed.
I enjoyed this. Love your interaction with the kids. Nice work.
Love the way the video is made. The feelings come acros :D
LOVE THE INTRO! DEFINITELY SPEAKING FACTS ON SHOOTING FILM!! SUBBED!
Thanks!
Another fun and delightful video, Jesse!
Thanks Kenny!
Man, your videos are food to my soul haha.
Love the 220. Good video! Wish I could get my kids to stay still for photos lol
Awesome photos. Makes me excited to use my C330 that i just got.
Congrats!
Just binge watched all your videos, love your uniqueness bro keep it up god bless!
Thank you!
I loved this this! Great video!! 😊
Thanks!
i've watched my fair share of film photography videos, then a couple more- but none of them have inspired me quite like this one. the way you edited this video together to quickly show the process of how you got the shot is so simple yet so effective. you've earned my sub! not sure if you have other film photography videos, but if you do, i'll be watching them.
Most of my early vids on this channel are film photography.. and planning a few more. Thanks for the kind words, Ian!
Perhaps the same reason that I love open baffle speakers driven by vacuum tubes.
I don’t know what that means, but I’m worried if I look into it I’ll become obsessed.
@@jessesenko Be afraid, be very afraid. 😉😁
Vacuum tubes I am sure you have seen. Europeans usually refer to them as valves or thermonic valves. It is the electronics before transistors.
Open baffle speakers as the name implies have no box, just a baffle. Properly designed and positioned they provide a listening experience like no other.
What an awesome intro 🤣🤣 man I love your character!
Haha thanks! Means a lot!
Oh man, I miss these videos! I love it hahaha.
I will never abandon you again! I promise! This time i mean it!
Oh, this is a big commitment, my friend. And commitments are for life! hahahaha.
But, not so much pressure for you. You are a free person for doing whatever you want!
I’m almost mad about your clever light table solution. We’ll done. Loved to see the prints or scans.
Thanks Jeremiah! I have a proper craft light table, but found the light uneven, and my film lights are the best. I've also found that if the diffusion has any texture and if you lay your negs against it your scans will pick up that texture. Cheap translucent white plastic bags stretched with tape are good, or in my case, just a bit of distance between the layers.
@@jessesenko Wonderful assessment and results. Imma try it out for sure.
Well made video man, Ive been thinking about getting one of these c220s
Hey, thanks Brady
very inspiring!
Just got one of these bad-boys, jammed right now with a roll of film in it .. Cant work out whats wrong.
Oh dang. I can do a bit of maintenance, but not too much mechanical knowledge. Hope you got it un-jammed! I remember opening cameras in the dark to move things around.
@@jessesenko It ended up being the lens... Its stuck on a kind of timer delay, the switches wont stop it.. And its one of those "Blue Dot" lenses..
Yay Film! Film maker films making film of making film. *Now with film!*
All of a sudden I have the need to buy a film camera.... Thanks Jesse 🤣
Haha do it. I love a good thrift store camera and some cheap black and white!
feeling exactly the same here
The parchment paper is a really good diffuser over the LED panel. Saved a couple hundred on one of those fancy back light things.
Way to mcgyver a method to scan your negs!
Ps I subbed.
-a shooter of film nonstop since the late seventies.
Nice! Thanks for the comment! Too tempting to make it myself.
Very nice images. I have been shooting the Mamiya C220 for 2 years now - what a great camera :). Only a few videos, though. What developer did you use for the images?
Hey, thanks! I like it too! I used Ilford Ilfosol 3
Would you recommend buying one? i just have the oppertunity, and what do you think this camera is worth (USD). thank you.
I'd always recommend buying a medium format camera if you have the option/means! This camera is quite a bit bigger than my Yashica TLR, so keep that in mind! I don't know what one is worth... I try to be patient and set up marketplace alerts until the right one comes along (I just picked up a Mamiya RB67 for $500CAD which is about half of what they're commonly listed at in this condition... but have wanted one for like 8 years, lol) Also check out the light seals where the door closes around the body, usually it's foam that has completely disintegrated and you could use that as some bargaining leverage :)
You can record video ???
Good videos btw, not sure why they dont get more views.. Make sure you fill in those metatags.
🤷♂️. Appreciate it!
dude which lens you used in this vedio ?80 3.7 or 2.8 please tell me i really need it hhh
Hey, 65mm/3.8 i think.
@@jessesenko oh thanks a lot
What lens is on there?
65mm
Try some Rollei RPX 100 😘
I’ve never used it. What do you like about it?
@@jessesenko smooth tones and fine grain. Like a Tmax 100 only better. Wide latitude 25-800 ASA. 35,120,4x5.
Will pick some up next time I’m in the city!
