  • It seems like glycerin would help keep the paints from drying out in their little jelly cups, right? I think it can be good, just... Dont do what i did lmao.

A lot of people make this sort of mistake, so you're not alone! You only need two drops (mls) of glycerin to 100mls water. Drop only 2 drops of the mix onto each one and allow it to soak in until its absorbed (overnight usually is enough). Then use water on its own. Again, don't flood the cups / pans. Just a couple of drops over 2 / 3 days. The best way is to check the gouache each week, rather than let it sit in a cupboard somewhere.
With your over-dosed Jelly Goauche, let them dry, then begin to do the same as the above, but with plain water from the start. Then use them as you would watercolour, rather than gouache, because the high proportion of water used will help to balance up the glycerin.
Use it for experimenting with different ideas, especially with big washes and playing with colours, rather than for a "painting with expectations". That way, you'll get some fun from them again and probably gain a lot of new experiences and even more fun!
    Hope this helps?

i’ve made this mistake too (but with setting up a set from tubes) my humectant of choice was honey. now my only use for those particular dollops of paint is watery underpaintings :’D surprisingly they did dry at some point, still very very sticky but at least they rewet like a dream lmao
