    The battery life is definitely DOGSHIT. But for a duty gun, I think it's *mostly* a non-issue (other than spending a shit ton of money on batteries.)
    Saw your reply to the other guy saying you asked "professionals" about it and they said "no it should always be on at all times", and if it's a gun you're counting to be ready to go at all times then sure. BUT. In the case of being a strictly "duty gun", as in "ON DUTY" gun, you could/would turn it on before going on duty, and turning it off when off duty.
    I agree on false advertising and bullshit battery life to the point of being a joke of an option, but I think for the case of being only for a gun that you will use when you put on a belt, it actually is one of the few (like 2) closed emitter optics that have a good reputation for not having retarded qc. Trijicon's RCR is new and we're still awaiting if it has any problems, but the other promising options have all had problems/bad qc.
    Great video and thanks for the info, but I think it lacks just the one perspective/consideration I said above.

      what? its a huge issue when it comes down to it haha. EPS, 509, RCR, ACRO, all closed emitter optics that are tougher, better, with better mounting solutions, and most are cheaper than this with 3-5+ years of battery life. theres NO EXCUSE for you to ever buy this optic for any reason. people are so weird haha... they make excuses for a part time optic that costs most than better optics.

      They are FKN EXPENSIVE! I am pretty sure they priced the plates based on 10% of the cost of the gun it goes on. $60 for [B]lock, $150 for Walther Q5!
      But damn those were made on a VERY NICE CNC machine.
      I thought my [B]lock plate wasn't going to fit, but it was just that it was machined to ONE THOU! I literally had to put it on dead flat, otherwise it wouldn't slide in.
      VERY IMPRESSIVE!

    *2016, 2032, 1632, those are PHYSICAL dimensions of those button cells.*

    20mm by 3.2mm,

      really? why would they choose this over trijicon or holosun products? they are far superior, more features, better mounting solutions, more idiot proof, 10x the battery life. feel free to show your chief my video and have him talk to steiner haha. 13 hour auto off and an unusable battery life should be total deal breakers for a duty optic.

  • @Aiden-o2m
    @Aiden-o2m Год назад +6

    In my opinion this is a non-issue for a duty pistol.
    My work pistol isn’t “bump in the night” go-to so I don’t worry about it being off in my duty holster over night.
    When I get up for work I adjust to to the appropriate brightness for the day and realistically everyone should likely have to adjust their dot at least once in the day, which resets that 13hr clock.
    My specific example, I get up at 3am for work, I set it lower.
    Around 7:30-8am I set it to daylight bright.
    If you work evening, you’d start at daylight bright and eventually adjust for the evening so you aren’t attempting to aim with the red light of god…
    Point is, it shouldn’t be an issue if you actually police your brightness. Even when I EDC it, same applies.
    That being said, I can’t suggest it on something that’s your SUDDEN GRAB gun. Mine personally is the Flux Defense Raider which has a holosun (shake awake)
    It’s a good dot, has a far better track record that the Aimpoint ACRO and is far more accessible.
    I can’t say it’s a “must have” but as long as it meets those previously explained standards, it’s a solid choice.
    Easiest enclosed emitter to get irons sights to work through too.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904  Год назад +3

      that is not the sentiment of the vast majority of the professionals I deal with and have trained with. the vast majority of red dot instructors will tell you to put your dot on the brightest setting you might need and leave it there.
      you shouldn't adjust the brightness of your dot for night time manually because you will be in daylight bright settings (rooms with lights on) or worse, shooting from a dark place into a daylight bright setting and you won't see your dot.
      this is why you leave it on the brightest setting you will need and then never touch it.
      a defensive firearm should always be ready for use, it's an emergency tool, you should never have to touch a button or turn it on or get it ready. it needs to work 100% of the time in less than a second.
      with all that said, there's optics that do everything this optic does, cheaper, with 30x the battery life.... so there's no excuse to ever purchase it.

    • @m4rvinmartian
      @m4rvinmartian Год назад +1

      They lied bro. And you're making excuses for them.
      Why are you ok with a company taking $500 from people and lying about one of the most important aspects of the red dot in order to game the search engines.
      You do know that's how we buy stuff now, right? Search engines, specifications, etc.
      So you can't LIE about a specification, to get sales over your competitors that are NOT LYING. That's LITERALLY ILLEGAL.

      @@maximusjoseppi5904 I’m also a police officer and use the MPS for duty. I almost always work 60 hours a week. I turn my dot on at the start of my shift and turn it off at the conclusion. I just had to change my battery for the first time in 3 months. Battery is like $1.20 per. Not sure why it’s such a big deal over battery life. Just keep a few extra batteries on hand if you leave it on 24/7. It only takes like 40 seconds to swap it out.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904  9 месяцев назад

      @@tylerpalmer2388 ya, it's too bad not all police get proper training. Your gun is an emergency life saving tool that needs to work without fail, without question, every single time you pick it up, 24/7.
      Do you only wear a seatbelt sometimes? Do you only put your airbags on sometimes? Do fire extinguishers turn off randomly? No. They are required by law to be on 24/7 without fail. That's how your gun should be and if you use an optic, that optic is your primary method of aiming your firearm that is about to decide whether you live or die in the next .5-2 seconds. Are you going to tell one of your suspects to please stop and wait 40 seconds while you change your battery so you can properly aim your gun? Or perhaps draw it and tell them to wait a minute while you turn it back on because you forgot to turn it on one time? Or draw it and it's blinking instead of giving you a sight picture? You've already been killed due to your equipment not working properly.
      Your brain should expect a dot, your presentation should be to acquire the dot (which is totally different than your backup irons if you have them), and when it's not there you're brain is going to go into an oh shit moment and need to assess what to do next. Then, if you're not dead yet, you're going to have to raise the gun up higher to get a crappy backup iron sight picture through the terrible optic you chose and focus on your front sight instead of the threat because iron sights work differently.
      Now. Tell me again why you don't think it's a big deal that you chose a primary aiming method that only works sometimes when you could have purchased a different one that costs less and will work without question, without fail, and without any input from you for about 5 years.
      There's 2 cops in this one comment thread that have had zero red dot training.. I need to start advertising my services haha. Every single advantage of having an optic on your gun is completely thrown out the window if you don't understand them or how to use them or how they are supposed to work.
