Great channel Marty, I used to play the guitar professionally but my left hand was crushed in a bad car accident in 1969. So I can't play a tenth of the cords I used to play. I was a studio musician for many years. I used to play with some of the greats. I am so glad a found your channel again. I will try yet again to take up the. Geeetar again. Thanks for your channel.

Practicing this one now! Marty, thank you for your arrangements. There is a change from G to the barre chord, back to C which sounds beautiful and is great for learning progression. Plus, this is a gem from Jim Croce. Thank you so much!

PartyMarty EasyGuitarTunes I understand you are a beginner...but jim croce didn't play the song with full chords..the chords used were kind of jazzy ...and you are changing the melody so much the way you sing the song..

My fav all-time artist. Good idea to transpose it...much easier for beginiers I've learned a lot of songs quickly and easily from your channel, keep it up bud.
One thing though...that C major after the B minor should probably be an A minor since the original descends from C# minor to B minor, if you know what I mean. Just saying. Rock n roll baby.

Well, I know it's kind of late
    I hope I didn't wake you
But what I got to say can't wait
    I know you'd understand
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong
So I'll have to say I love you in a song
Yeah, I know it's kind of strange
    Every time I'm near you
I just run out of things to say
    I know you'd understand
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong
So I'll have to say I love you in a song
Every time the time was right
All the words just came out wrong
So I'll have to say I love you in a song
Yeah, I know it's kind of late
    I hope I didn't wake you
But there's something that I just got to say
    I know you'd understand
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong
So I"ll have to say I love you in a song

His songwriting and composition are unbelievable. If I could find a video like this for every Jim Croce song I would know his whole discography by tomorrow. As much as I'd like to think I can play/sing as intricately, I think the stripped down versions are where I should begin. Awesome video man thanks!

Never heard this song before until I came across your video, although I had vaguely heard of Croce, he's not widely known or heard in the uk.
What a beautiful song it is, thankyou for bringing it to my attention. And i was saddened to hear of your illness, but I'm pleased to see you making a good recovery, health is everything and we all i think, tend to take it for granted. Keep up the good work people like yourself are a godsend to budding players and help to give them the enthusiasm to keep picking up the guitar, long may you continue Marty, but take it easy and look after yourself first and foremost my good man. I'm off to learn this song, but please don't be offended to hear me say I'll be using another persons lesson as I'm fortunate enough, after years and years of playing, to be able to play it the way Croce does. Also as a foot note I've subscribed to your channel and shall be pressing guitar playing friends and my neighbour whose just started to learn guitar, to do the same👍👍

I play it that way as well, I play it the original way when someone else is singing. But this way works for me too. But if I may just give you one little tip that I do. In the chorus after the C chord, instead of going to D, go to C minor. You know, barre chord, 3rd position. Try it out. Really enjoyed your rendition!

This is a great lesson. I learned this with A Maj7 as the starting chord, but your version is so much easier to play, and fits my vocal range so much more easily. I do miss the d minor-to-E7 transition at the end of the verse, but it's not a huge loss. Thanks for posting this.
