How do you switch from iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy S24? Well, this Apple fan boy has been trying to switch to an Android phone for 3 years now! The S23 Ultra came close for me to make the complete switch but the Apple ecosystem just kept me locked in. Well, this time it's different. Samsung's new AI features got me super excited and so I've actually LOCKED AWAY my iPhone and Apple Watch for 30 days to stop the temptation of 'pretend switching'! So let's see how this goes!

What stops you from switching?
I made the switch to Samsung today. I went to Galaxy s24 Ultra and I pick up the phone today after work. I am so excited and I’m ready to say bye to iPhone.
How long do you think it’ll last before you want to go back to apple? I wish I could switch to android. I like sending clear videos through iMessage. They would be grainy sending from android 🤦♂️
@@bigdrews4360 sign up for beeper they allow you to use iMessage on android, fixing that. I was waiting for access to that before I switched as 90% of my friends and work contacts are on iMessage
@bigdrews4360 Thats changing this year once apple allows RCS Messaging its not bc of andriod its bc apple not allowing rcs messaging but i also was a huge apple fan boy but i have the s23 ultra amazing phone and switched to the 15 pro max and i never realized how boring the iphones are until i switched back i lasted about a week and had to return it also their are more peoole switching to Samsung or Google now and all andriods have rcs messaging now which makes it exactly like imessage as well

I have done the same, I have also locked my iPhone 15 pro max for s24 ultra. But the difference is, you have locked in the locker and I have locked in my wife's hand and that will never gonna come back to me ever. 🤭

I'm LOVING it so far! The AI features really are a step in a very innovative direction.
As a Xiami user, I just have to laugh a little at 45W "fast charging" ^^ My Xiaomi 13T Pro charges completely with 120W in under 30 minutes haha. But I also decided to switch to Samsung Galaxy with the S24 Ultra. I signed the new contract today and am just waiting for my device until it is finally delivered 😊

You should get a “smartthings” hub. Makes organizing your Samsung stuff way better . And you can do automations stuff. And it can do stuff like show a notification on your tv when your microwave finishes, or your stove finishes etc. it’s cool .
Swapped from iphone 15 pro max to S24 ultra. So there is an iphone and apple watch hole in my apple ecosystem. Strange not having all the same but slowly getting used to working a mix of apple and android products. I dont want to completely go into another ecosystem but loving the change from iphone to s24 ultra.
We all know that the watch is going to bring you back to Apple lol

When it comes to Samsung's ultra line, I find it extremely difficult for him to go back to Apple.
I sold my Apple Watch Ultra and purchased the Garmin Epix Pro and I never looked back. Now I am deciding between the S24 ultra and Pixel 8 Pro
Switched too....all in on the S24U, Tab S9U and the Galaxy Watch Series 6 - Loving every moment of them all!

I have a Galaxy Fold 4 that I keep around as an alternate device, but I'm all integrated with Apple otherwise (Mac Studio, MacBook Pro, three iPhones for personal and work, iPad, Apple Watch). The Galaxy Fold has kept its value mainly because of the screen size and stylus. I would love to play with the S24, but the only use case for it is replacing my personal use iPhone 14 Max/Apple Watch. That's not happening. Galaxy Watch just wasn't good enough the last time that I tried. In short, it's still all about the ecosystem.
I’ve been an iPhone user since the 5 and I’ve been really intrigued by the s24 Ultra. I currently have a 14 pro max and I just feel like I’m ready for a change.
I’m just afraid I’ll switch and hate it. But I really really want something new and Apple just seems stagnant.
Did you enjoy the switch? How are the apps on an android? I’ve always read that some of them run worse on android.
7:40 Can the AI record a phone call and summarise it? It would be really handy if I could have that when an architect calls me and I am not at my desk (I'm a structural engineer) so that I have a summary of what we discussed at the end of that call that I can refer back to when I'm in the office.
Any thoughts on Vivid mode not working? Settings-->Display-->Screen Mode-->Vivid isn't doing anything. It's just Natural (even when vivid is selected), and most people switch from Natural when they get their Samsung phone.
Yep - hoping it gets fixed with a software update. It's definitely doing nothing for me either!

Apple got their work cut out this year! AI, customisation, folding phones, few taps and shortcuts, or just plain out better in certain categories, they can't afford to miss this year. Vision pro ain't gonna save them
Completely agree, although (and I know I'm biased here somewhat) I think Apple will smash it out of the park this year with the 16! I'm excited to se what they can do with AI integration

Do whatever you want to do at the end you will use the phone for basic tasks ND after 1 year you feel my phone is out dated. HHahahhaha
I also use a Garmin watch (Forerunner 265) on my violet S24 Ultra.

Retuning mine. S pen is not flush to the phone, it can easily be removed by a finger nail and it's loose, more than last year. It doesn't seem a very polished phone this time
You probably just had a defective unit. Why not get a replacement first?
Also, if you put a case on it, you’ll never notice or have issues with that
You should use a 6 classic with the s24 ultra especially since you used the apple watch with the iPhone.
I thought you switched to apple for the simplicity and consisistancy of the APPs.
I’m on iPhone. I want to make the switch, but texting challenges has me waiting until RCS is a real thing… or is this not really a challenge.. all my family is on iPhone
Pete, do you also noticed the grain effect on the screen? Like me and many other s24 ultra owner experience grainy screen. Also i have a A34 5G as back up, and that phone has grain effect on the screen as well. Really weird, like the internet (mostly Reddit) is full of it.
So another RUclipsr that will say I'll switch and still be on iPhone.
I tried with the S23 Ultra, which I still have, but the bugs, lag and lack of steadiness that I'm experiencing on Android 14, makes me cringe. I've been using my Pixel 8 Pro much more and is my secondary currently, as my iPhone 14 Pro is still my main driver, it just works. Reliable operating system. Obviously it lacks the customization of my S23 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro, so I guess I have the best of all 3 world's 🌍. Don't see myself at this point, needing to upgrade to the S24 Ultra, 16 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro. Enjoy the advancement of mobile technology.
Weird, I actually have more buggy experience on my 14 Pro atm. Switched from the S23 Ultra.

Hello Pete, are Google Wallet / Pay issues fixed in the S24? In your S23 video you highlighted this as the biggest caveat vs Apple Pay. I'm an iPhone user myself and I'm considering the S24, but Apple Pay is essential for me! It would be great to know your thoughts. Cheers!
Guys, consider the reliability of this clown. Open his youtube channel and type the word "switch" and see how many times he claimed to have stayed to one side because the other side is worse. He is just milking views from both sides when it suits him.
That’s what I feel my problem will be I have the Watch Ultra 2 and as soon as I go buy the Samsung S24 Ultra unlocked I will be lost without it. I don’t like Samsung watches.
Yeah, thus far in my search for a smart watch to rival the Ultra 2, I've not found much that even comes close!
When android apps don't function like IOS apps does 🤭 it really does get frustrating! I wonder if the S24U will face such issues. . .

@@Dat_Sunironically the s23 ultra my girl has never lags with any apps so far after a year. this could be a unit issue cause people with iPhones say there apps don’t have issues as well
@robmalcolm8042 I keep getting blank comment sections and unexpected restarting of youtube. Checked for updates just now, and nothing yet. Sometimes, it freezes with a little 5/8th circle *and arrow in the middle of the screen.
The clicking sounds are triggering.
Garmin is the one for me, ditched my Apple Watches I have the Tactix delta solar and 7 pro both are 1k each but I wouldn’t go back to charging my Apple watch every day
But no cellular, that’s why I bought an AW and sold my Garmin Epix Pro, if it had cellular I would switch 😊

even in the 2010s all my Samsung phones could instantly mirror to a samsung TV without any extra software or steps to connect , it instantly beams to the TV screen, i say it beat apples own game at it which required an apple TV

I've used a few of them before (and reviewed them on the channel) but they just don't come close to the performance of a Garmin (or an AWU!)
Good grief… the amount of comments concerned that you’ll go back to iPhone in October… You’re a tech reviewer, who the f..k cares, haha. You, at least, are great at experimenting and giving yourself a good chance at learning the ins and outs. Here for this experiment… and won’t pay you out when you start your next experiment. It’s true that still having an iPhone available as a back up, when you’re used to the Apple ecosystem, prevents you from working out how to do things differently, change that memory muscle, and find a different way. It took me 6 months back in 2020 to no longer feel buyers remorse when I actually traded in my iPhone for a Samsung. I eventually forgot habits, which had been replaced with new habits and new muscle memory and lots of trial and error in how to get my Samsung phone and iPad to nicely play together. 4 years later, and wiser, I just try not to fall into any walled garden anymore, preferring to be free to operate any device and prefer to think of ecosystems as super-ecosystems because they actually do play nicely together when you work that out.

I have just swapped from an iPhone to s24 ultra. How did you find getting it play nicely with your iPad? I already mainly use Microsoft or Google services so I hope I am pretty much going in the right direction.

Not at all. I hardly ever use it anyway as most conversations are across WhatsApp or something else already 👍🏼

I got the S24 Ultra 2 weeks ago, but I sent it back after a week. I just cannot get along with Android. Very nice hardware though, but needs iOS!

We shall see! I absolutely LOVED the 23 Ultra but it just wasn't quite... well... enough to replace my iPhone. This time though, with all the incredible AI features, the S24 is looking like a very strong contender!

S23 Ultra is a beast of a phone,but out of curiosity, what about the iPhone is it that prevented you from making the full switch? Curious cause I'm on the same boat, I want to ditch my iPhone cause I'm just tired of the same phone different year type of thing

Dude you are constantly switching! Settle down man 😅 I’ll stick to iPhone as I like the ecosystem of apple( like you do). But I also like to have a s24 ultra to try it out for the first time since iPhone 4S. But I am sure I will need my iPhone as it’s not revolutionary, but always works, no matter what.

the best feature samsung made ( if they stick to their word ) is the years of updates ... even if its just security updates for the last few years , that makes it safe for people to keep using a old phone for mobile banking etc

Made the same switch too. While I'm going to miss my Apple Watch, I couldn't be happier with the choice to move back to Samsung after so many years.
I have an iPhone and have been a user for the past 7 years. I’ve been debating on converting back to Android because I don’t use 90% of Apple features (I don’t even know what most of them are), I HATE the watches, the App Store is horrendous, and the photo app doesn’t offer many options for editing photos. I’m doing a decent amount of research before making such a plunge. I have a Samsung tv (amazing), a MacBook, an iPad, and a watch that’s collecting dust on the floor. From what I’ve been seeing, the AI, the lack of reflection, and the photo editing capabilities plus the virtually unlimited possibilities for customization are really influencing my opinion to switch back to Android. I jumped on the Apple bandwagon years ago and thought I’d never look back. Years later, here I am knocking on Samsung’s door.

I current use Android and a Windows laptop. But I'm thinking of getting an S24 Ultra and a Macbook - will this combo have compatibility issues and work together in an ecosystem? OR do I have to go one way or another and settle on the same brand?
You'll definitely get better integration with Apple & Apple, but that's not to say you can't use an Android phone. Check out the video I posted today - I went into a bit more on how I've found using the S24 ultra and a Mac, along with Windows etc!

How do these cycles work? A quick search returns tons of tech youtubers "giving up their iphone", repeatedly, every phone release cycle. Do they use an iphone alternative for a few weeks and then go back to the iphone only to switch again with another alternative is released?
My first iPhone was the IPhone 5 and been upgrading just about every year or so since then, but the past few months I been thinking of switching to Samsung, its going to be a change for sure.

Good for you that you don't lock yourself down to any eco system and rather stay updated with all that's out there. I'm a Android user myself, but I have no problem to understand people who likes Apple better. Apple do some things much better than anyone else, and it's easy to understand and use. It's not for me though, but I've bought iDevices for my kids and I've got an iPad though work, so I have some experience (hence my earlier statement)

I’m a long time iOS user and have tried Android previously but things like software fluidity.. now Android has come along way but I just think iOS is a bit more polished.. Face ID I missed and could not get on with the fingerprint scanner. Ecosystem.. think I’m stuck as I have a host of Apple products.. Mac.. TV etc..
The S24 Ultra is an absolute beast of a phone but reality for me was I just missed what I’m accustomed to.. I’m not one for massive customisation etc and I’m sure AI will come to iOS
Both phones are great enjoy whichever you choose!

Came from the 22Ultra to the 15 Pro Max, reason being I wanted the Ultra 2 watch. Became really fed up with having to charge Samsung watch every 1.5 days. Maybe I’ll switch back when they have a smart watch with 4 days of charge.
How is the ultra compare to iPhone ? I had Samsung phone all the note until the 9 , now for the last few years I have iPhone but sometimes I want to switch back
Garmin offers more features and days of battery life like literally. Just find the model right for you coz their watches cater to different types of users. I am rocking a Forerunner 265 which lasts 8-12 days on a single charge.
Amazing T Rex 2 lasts me 2 to 3 weeks before I charge my phone. That's a poor excuse to switch your phone lol
