  • NEWS: Chinese rocket fail - Tianlong-3 accidently launches and crashes with massive explosion
In a quarry near Gongyi, a large city in the Chinese province of Henan, a major incident occurred during an engine test of the Tianlong-3 rocket from Space Pioneer. The test, which was originally supposed to take place safely on the ground, got out of control when the rocket stage broke free from its anchoring and lifted off vertically.
The incident, which fortunately occurred without catastrophic consequences, could easily have led to a tragedy. The Tianlong-3, which is similar to SpaceX's Falcon 9 with a launch weight of 590 tons, was loaded with around 200 tons of fuel at the time of the accident. The rocket's crash led to a huge explosion that could have had devastating consequences if it had hit a populated area. Instead, the missile hit a wooded area about 1,460 meters southwest of the test stand.
The original construction of the test stand, which was designed for the smaller Tianlong-2 missile, could not withstand the thrust of 820 tons from the nine engines of the Tianlong-3. The increased load ultimately caused the rocket stage to detach during the test and lift off uncontrollably.
Space Pioneer confirmed in a statement that there were no personal injuries or further damage to property. The company announced that it would not test any more large rocket stages at Gongyi and is currently searching for the black box and investigating the debris.
Chinese space travel has a history of safety problems. One particularly tragic example is the crash of a Long March 3B rocket on February 15, 1996, in which the Intelsat 708 satellite crashed into a village, causing numerous casualties. This incident led to Western satellites no longer being launched with Chinese rockets.
Gongyi has a historical connection to rocketry. The city is home to the imperial tombs of the Northern Song Dynasty, during whose reign black powder was developed. Reports from this period mention the use of black powder rockets, underlining China's long tradition of rocket development.

@@legiran956410/10!they wouldn’t just strap a nuke to a random rocket during a test. If the test failed then there goes there operations aswell. The physical amount of armed and ready to go icbms and nuclear capabilities around the globe is unreal. Russians have nato on their toes and almost backed into a corner.. if trump gets elected again, he’s gonna try to stop the war by having both presidents meet and have a meeting with him. And they would never agree to, and trumps gonna be the one who starts that war. If Biden gets elected again, we will have a civil war again

considering the second video was filmed from some kilometers away and not just some hundreds.

This is what i get from our domestic media:
    1. This was a fire test of nine thrust in parallel(九级并联点火), the thrust power is about 820 tons
    2. The first stage rocket was fired successfully, but for some reason, the rocket was not fixed on the ground as it should, instead it breaks the control and accidently launch to the sky
    3. The engine was shut down before it launches to the sky, but I guess it's kind of late or it flies inertially
    4. The person who takes the video is at least 20 km away(i doubted, but at least kms not hundred meters) from the test center and no causality reported. The test center is in a short mountain, the photographer(from a high building) zooms the camera which makes it look near, but actually it's quite far and you can roughly calculate the distance by the sound latency
