And Luke got the inspiration from when the soldiers came to the new world the men did not want to leave the ships to explore. They wanted to stay where it was safe and comfortable. So the captain called all the men to the shore and when they were all there he commanded his leaders to "burn the ships". That way his men had to look forward and not towards the past. And also listen to Luke's story on why he wrote this. It will move you.
Actually they do their own. He didn't have anyone rowing for them. And it is good to know the back story. Burn the ships... burn the past, the hurt, the addiction, pain, and don't look back. Don't stay in the past.
The bomb was to make a point. You had one soldier on the ship who wanted to stay in the past. The other was like, burn the ship, leave the past and your comfort and go forth.

Burn the ships in the Bible is let go of the past and move on Leave their past behind them (Isaiah 43:18-19, Luke 9:62, and Philippians 3:13-14). And then they add another verse for Reroute their thought process away from their former life and towards progress (Philippians 3:12-14).Leave the past behind us and move forward.if we ask Him through prayer. These are Biblical concepts that bring Him glory. only concern is that the phrase “born again” might confuse some unbelievers.
That’s exactly why I like there songwriting 💯🤟🏿 some one told me the ship they used in the vid was used in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean

So my favorite line in this song is “so light a match leave the past burn the ships and don’t you look back”. It’s so good and in my opinion this is one of for king and country’s most well written songs!!!
the term burn the ships is an analogy for committing to your task, your ships are gone so you can't go back to your past situation so you are full commit to the task in front of you.

Luke talks about “burning the ship” as a way to leave the past and comfortable behind by burning the ships. One has to move forward and can’t stay stuck in the past because the past is gone.
Yes, he IS rowing.
The title is about the explorer Hernán Cortés he asked him men who wanted to stay and take over the new world and who wanted to leave. Then destroyed all the ships of the people who stayed so that they couldn't change their mind.
