Vaporwave is doing that now in a way where musically vaporwave artists are making new albums that are less sample and more original creation. And surprisingly, the namesake for the Outrun genre, the Outrun game, is considered Vaporwave despite having the name of the other genre.
Yea, hard agree, vaporwave is in a much better place of being clearly distinguished than it was years prior. But maybe this is the Post Vaporwave era? hmm something to think about
