I played a game in a site that was an outrun aesthetic, 80's sports cars, gradient Sun, grid mountains and low poly cities and other bunch of cool stuff. Unfortunately, I forgot it's name, i wish i could have a DeLorean to know it's name..

Awesome video, especially the soundtrack. It's a shame Outrun/Retro Aesthetic games are pretty rare. I would say that for a lot of gamers Vice City was part of the reason for the love of Retro Aesthetics, before it was cool. I was expecting that this style would gain a lot of popularity after Vice City, but it kind of faded away until Drive. Now it's almost mainstream style.
Thanks for the awesome comment! Yeah i agree, i tried to focus on the 2 games that in my opinion contributed the most to the Outrun/retro aesthetic(Hotline and blood dragon) the others mostly were derived of the popularised outrun aesthetic
Im a complete outsider to these things but you give me hundreeeeeds of references of aesthethics, music, games, artists, everything, to investigate and get inspired for my own artistic pursuit. Thank you so much! keep up the good work.
You should really play Broken Reality. It's the best homage to vaporwave yet. Oh, and check out the last event from Rocket League - totally rad outrun/retrowave vibes.
Hotline Miami probably is the best game I have ever played. The gameplay is fun and challenging, the artstyle is gorgeous, the synthwave music (especially the dark synth in HM2) is fantastic and keeps you motivated, the characters and their different reasons for their actions are interesting and the story is just incredible if you're willing to spend a little time figuring out what the hell actually happened and how everything fits together in those two games.
@@PINKAS1 yeah, i think it's quite heavily inspired, it has the same fast pace combat one hit death difficulty as well, so the gameplay is pretty similar
Scarface: The World Is Yours. This game really catches the 80's Miami aesthetic well, sometimes better than GTA: Vice City does, I highly recommend it!
@@NotAvailablexd Yeah but that game felt lackluster in other departments instead, it felt like a bit of a downgrade from the original Vice City even, but maybe that's because I went from VC on PC to VCS on PSP.
@@Badguy292 Maybe but I still think VCS is better than VC because of the following reason: better story (subjective but I found Vic to be a better protag than Tommy), the map (more neons so it felt more 80s imo and more improvements), cool empire building mechanic, better missions. Just my opinion tho. Yeah, the transition from using the mouse for aiming to a controller is pretty bad but I got used to it fast (played it on PPSSPP on PC with higher resolution as well).
@@NotAvailablexd Not a bad choice, I don't have a PSP emulator but yeah, the Story was less cliché but I guess I just enjoy the Scarface-like ending of VC with Tony blasting all his enemies down. it was satisfying.
Well i'm late to this video but i need to talk about other game with a very Vaporwave style (at least in presentation) and is one of the most real games i ever played, Hypnospace Outlaw, is a detective/graphic adventure simulation of a 90's computer but this thing is loaded when you are dreaming, the journey happen in a version of the internet for that computer where you can read the other people blogs and all of that feels so real.
I highly recommend playing data wing A vaporwave game where you play as a "data wing" in a computer plus it has a good story The game is on mobile (They also have a soundtrack of music that was in game)(none of the songs played in game are theirs though but that's not a bad thing, the music is really good too)
When he said the year is 2011 I’m expecting to go on a nostalgia trip about how I had no worries and was playing video games. What I got instead was.. 10 million times FUNNIER 👍😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Exactly! That's what I loved the most from this video. Gives an introduction as prelude, explaining the context or beginning of them, so it has an interpretation which makes it more immersive than just jumping right into the games.
“Heimat Defender: Rebellion” should be in there tbf. It presented a dystopian future, it’s the only game ever banned from Steam for political dissidence. Others have been banned for being gross of course, but even assassination simulations games involving “the orange man” aren’t banned.
Is that like retro feeling real? Like you know that palm tree thing that neon thing and other things that bring a nostalgic to us even if we were born at 2000 or later
Rip your child hood, I’m 23 and I played the shit out of Vice City when It came out. My older brother got it and I would play it any time he wasn’t home.
@Phoenix 𝙾𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝙼𝚢 PROFILE I thinke the AESTHETIC ( with all caps always) meme is from the Vaporwave scope. Katana Zero is on the same tier as Hotline Miami. True AESTHETIC would be things like Hypnospace Outlaw and Broken Reality.
Don't feel bad, TofBD frustrated me as well. The premise and aesthetic of the game were wonderful, taking inspiration from comics of the period rather than film. But the gameplay really did feel like it was tailored more towards fans of the Trials series rather fans of synth or outrun.
and also outdrive has letter achievements for those who likes fancy steam profiles.
Yep, I have that, pretty cool :D
But the game itself is shit tbh
Trust me I love steam profile design
If you like the Hotline Miami aesthetic I’d highly recommend Katana Zero
ChronosTech Oh hell yeah! That game is awesome!
Also, username checks out
This game is a gem. Completed the game with all the announcements and finished the normal speedrun. Yet to complete the hard mode speedrun.
I like Friday the 13th its a bit aesthetic
@@anewdeep Did you complete the hard mode?
Outrun video games are way harder to find than Vaporwave video games suprisingly..
Which is sad, because i think the outrun asthetic Works better for video games than vaporwave
No

Katana Zero it is considerate an "Aesthetic game"?
Fantastic game, I think it's much closer to outrun than vaporwave given its darker color environment.
I think it’s considered outrun because of its use of neon colors and storyline, also the thematic new Mecca environment
Yeah but its a very new game maybe he missed it while making this video

@silvercell yeahh it definetly deserves more love, also I think theyre going to release a spin off called N1RV ANN-A
You couldn't make a retro video gamelist without Hotline Miami

Katana Zero, Furi and Ruiner are recommended too but the games mentioned in the video are the most important ones.
Nice subtle zelda song there, loved it!
Top notch Outrun content, love it
Thank you, love to hear that!
That fact that there is no mention of Broken Reality is genuinely upsetting. It is literally "the vaporwave game"
*Laughs in the second video*
Exactly. I was so pissed off about this. Like, it's the most vaporwave thing you could find AND YOU DON'T MENTION IT

Broken Reality is probably one of the most aesthitically dedicated vaporwave games I have ever played, give it a look!
Wow tysm for putting the songs in the description
You're welcome!
Nitronic Rush is a pretty damn good outrun game for a freebie made by students. And its "sequel" Distance, while not as Outrun, is even better.

Yes

Riff Racer is a good racing game if you want. And it creates tracks from any song or tune you give it
Hey mate i got a question where i can find good aesthetics of vaporwave?
Never give up on hard games. Thats the point. In dark souls it's to find the nature of humanity.

Infamous can be pretty outrun at times
what can i say, im sucker for these things. i buy every retrowave theme thats original for my ps4
Hey, what about 198X is it like a retro/aesthetic one too ?
Synthwave Retrowave
broken reality is so so aesthetic
surprising we didn't have a game with New City Pop aesthetic
i was introduced to this world thanks to hot line miami but also FURI, why no one talks about that awesome game?
Great Synth track but that's the only thing they got Synth wise. The aesthetic isn't the good one
you should check nitronic rush too !

nvm i found it its Kavinsky - Odd Look if anyone interested.
You could Livestream your first play of GTA VC on Twitch, that would be rad. Somethin to think about :)

Crime Wave IS the 80s and godfather of outrun/vaporwave. It should be mentioned.
Vice city started the whole 80s revivial. Throughout the 2000s the 80s started making a come back eventually exploding in 2011
