Hi bro, i hope you will be good. I have question: I have close work permit and my wife has open work permit. Now i want to apply for TRV. Should i submit application from two separate accounts ? like one application for myself and one for my wife. Because when i click yes (you want to apply for family member) then they give me question related to open work permit and at the end fee is 300 +. Last time i did the same, i got the passport request but my wife TRV application was withdrawn after 6month (mentioning that you already have an open work permit, so you dont need to apply again.). For family member,
I suppose they are referring to the work permit application for another person. TRV process is different.
How’s TRV different from Visitor Permit/Record?
If I already have a TRV and my work permit expires, to maintain a legal status in, will I require to apply for visitor permit/record?
TRV and visitor visa is same thing. Study permit/work permit is your status. Visa is not your status. If wp is expired, then there is no use of TRV. TRV allows you to take international flight, permit is what lets you cross immigration at the border.

Real brother and sister are considered as family members. Yes you need to mention him and you will also get points since your brother already has PR.
Hey just wanted to clear something i did all the steps according to the video i am work permit holder and i applied for trv as my previous one expired everything got approved i just received my passport as well but in the category section it says Visitor. Is it should be worker or visitor ? I am confused about this as i ok work permit please clarify this.

TRV is Temporary Resident Visa, category is supposed to be visitor since work permit information is not printed on passport and work permit is a temporary category thats why visitor. TRV is just their on your passport(visa) to allow you to board an international flight. Your work permit document is what will allow you to pass the immigration office in Canada.

As far I know, you have to use the actual work permit in order to file for TRV status since you need to have a valid status while applying. I am not sure if application confirmation counts as a valid document for TRV. Please check other videos/resources for more information.

Thanks for the comments! Approval takes around 25-30 days. Then after approval you need to courier your passport via Canada-post expedited option and you have to pay for both sending the passport and receiving the passport. Sending passport and receiving it back takes another 20-30 days.
So in total, it takes 50-60 days, could be more or less depending upon there processing.

error was date …. accidentally i put the date when my work permit was issued, but instead we have to put the date we are applying as he did in his video…. like today date 18 dec 2023
My error got resolved when i filled again whole form and validated only once . So my suggestion don’t validate same form again and again.
my real sister is PR so can i choose yes because someone told me that IRCC does not consider brother/sister as family members

You only need to use that document if you are filing the application from outside Canada. No need to use it if you are applying from within Canada

I don't understand why you need a TRV when you already have a visitor visa. Research on Google with filter "apply TRV when already having visitor visa" and see what comes up. TRV is also a kind of visitor visa.

Sorry for the delay. Study permit is valid upto 2-3 months after scores are released by university for the last semester. During this time you have to file for pgwp otherwise after these 2-3 months, your status in Canada becomes invalid. If you have PGWP then you can safely go to India but prefer not to stay for long since only 3 months are left in your passport stamping.
Passport stamping allows you to board international flight, your status in Canada (study,PGWP,visitor) is what decides whether you'll pass immigration or not.

TRV is your passport status and work permit is your permit type. TRV allows you to board a plane and work permit/ study permit let's you cross immigration. You don't need to apply TRV again after getting work permit.

There is no such requirement for TRV. You just need your work permit/study permit i.e current status in Canada to apply for TRV and passport.

I have few queries on TRV:
1. I applied for my study permit extension and it is valid till Aug 2023 and I completed my study in April 2023. During that time, I applied for TRV as well and they gave me visa (Visitor, till Aug 2031).
Now I do have my 3yrs work permit, do I need to apply TRV again?

You can TRV stamp on passport. For masters student, you just get a PGWP document and their is no stamping for that.

1. Work permit is not stamped on visa, it's a different document that you need to carry along with passport on international travel
2. To board the flight itself, your passport is checked for student/temporary resident visa. If let's say you have validity till 2024 August that means you can board international flight upto 2024 August. However, to let you pass through immigration, you need work permit document.
3. After your masters finish, you have 90 days to file for work permit. While applying, you can also apply for TRV of Temporary resident visa. You need to apply this TRV only if your student stamping on passport is near expiry after your masters. For eg masters finishing on June 2024 and student visa stamping on December 2024, then you need to apply for TRV. If stamping is valid till Aug 2025, then you need to file for TRV.
Temporary resident visa/student visa/passport stamping is to board international flight.
To pass through immigration, you need work permit.

You can travel outside and come back within 90 days from receiving studies completion letter. After 90 days your study status expires unless you are enrolled in another program or apply for pgwp
