    The Steiner Micro Pistol Sight or MPS, has garnered quite the reputation for being a duty-proven optic for pistols or whatever else someone chooses. I had the opportunity to run the Steiner MPS through its paces on top of my Springfield Armory Echelon and it has been phenomenal. Whether it is the crystal clear glass or the durability, the Steiner MPS has found a forever home on my Echelon.
    With the Steiner MPS, it is chock full of all the features you need and no extra garbage. The MPS is user friendly with 8 brightness settings and two for night vision. It features a battery life of 13,000 Hours and an auto shut-off feature. The auto shut-off feature can be locked out or disabled for someone using the MPS as a duty optic. WAlong with the technical aspects, the MPS mounts using the Aimpoint Acro footprint and the included RMR adapter plate which is included in the packaging.
    The design of the MPS allows it to maintain Steiner’s battle-proven durability and mil-spec ruggedness. The MPS has an all metal construction and strong sidewalls to completely seal in the emitter for the red dot. What this means in layman's terms, nothing is going to cover the emitter rendering your red dot non-functional. The front of the optic has a hood that overhangs to protect the recessed objective glass. This means you can utilize the optic itself to rack the slide of objects or your hand.
    Mounting the MPS is a breeze and the Variable Interface System or VIS for optics on the Echelon makes it even easier. Although you will need a separate plate for the ACRO/MPS footprint, the plate itself is machined to complement the slide work on the Echelon. The plate will match the rear serrations, fits as perfect and will look as though the MPS mounting footprint was machined into the slide like a custom mill. The plate itself locks into place on the slide with two Torx screws and recoils bosses for a worry free secure lock up.
    Getting out on the range with the Steiner MPS is where it shines. The crystal clear glass and large window assist with fast target acquisition. I have shot this optic on the Echelon for over one thousand rounds in a multitude of different drills. Coming from the holster and picking up the dot on target is simple. Let’s talk a bit about the dot itself, it is very crisp and clean with a perfect 3.3 MOA dot. I can’t answer why the dot is 3.3 MOA and not just 3 or an even number but it’s the perfect size for defensive shooting. The size of the dot leaves plenty of room for target identification and doesn’t cover too much or a human silhouette on extended ranges past 25 yards.
    The red dot design of the MPS is a closed emitter red dot and they excel when the atmospheric conditions are less than ideal. Rain, snow or sleet will not affect red dot performance and the MPS has been no exception. Even when the temperature changes from cold to hot or back and forth the fogproof construction of the MPS ensures the dot will be there when you need it.
    The MPS is personally my favorite enclosed emitter red dot for a pistol available. On top of this, the MPS looks awesome on top of the Springfield Armory Echelon. Steiner made a perfect optic for a duty pistol. It is waterproof, shockproof, fogproof and backed by the Steiner Heritage Warranty. This means no matter what, the Steiner MPS will not let you down and be with you for a lifetime of service. The Steiner MPS gets our seal of approval at Hunt Fish Shoot and will always have a place on several of our Springfield Armory firearms.

    I’ve also had good customer service experience. Had a stripped battery door cover on an MPS I bought of Reddit. I sent it in and they just send me brand new MPS within a week.

    I'm a bit ignorant to the different red dots out there, as I am new to firearms in terms of experience. This one looks really good and one I definitely would consider getting. Thanks for the tip!

    If you only had the funds to buy 1 pistol for a while which pistol would you choose? The Shadow Systems MR920 Elite or the Springfield Echelon? Debating on which one to buy first, but I only have the funds to purchase one of them, a holster, some extra mags and a few hundred rounds of 9mm

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  4 месяца назад +1

      The MR920 would be my pick. It’s a better do all pistol, small enough to EDC and big enough to fight with. Way more holster options, mags are cheaper and easier to find. The echelon is a great pistol also and neither is wrong. You want an even better option? Get the MR920P 💪

    I have mine on my APX A1 Compact. It rocks. The only thing I had read in reviews that concerned me was that battery life was not as advertised with some claiming they had to replace their batteries every few weeks. I turned mine on to 6-7 (can't remember) on April 10th and de-activated auto-shutoff and it's still perfectly fine. I'll see how long it lasts.

      Shake and wake would definitely be an improvement .To be fair you do get 541 days out of the battery so if you change the battery annually I think you will be ok. I have one and I find excellent, not on a duty gun though.

      @@Matthewo4765 yup went through 3 units had to get warranty cover all three times so I just sold it when they sent me a 4th one. Each time was a new unit not just a refinished product. I guess it was my luck. I really like the optic but in less than 6 months use to go through 3 was a bummer. My aimpoint t2 has been bomb proof though

    Battery life isn’t good enough unless they changed it. That needs to be improved because the Aimpoint Acro is better. Also heard that if you disable the auto off feature you lose some of the brightness functions.

      I used it professionally for 2 years. The battery lasted anywhere between 4-6 months depending on the setting. I never had concerns that it was gonna leave me high and dry. It was the clearest dot to my eye. I still carry one on my ccw.

    I like how the mps has a wider window than the acro but I know a lot of guys who have had a little piece of debris on the inside that will come loose and obscure a portion of the window. From what I hear they have better customer service than aimpoint tho.

    • @HuntFishShootChannel
      @HuntFishShootChannel  4 месяца назад

      I haven’t personally experienced that in three different mps optics now. One on a pistol, one on a A300 and one on a rifle offset. I greatly prefer it over the Acro tho. We just got two Lead and Steel PB-3 optics in to test as well

      @@HuntFishShootChannel it was a hard choice for me. But after so many guys reported they had to replace their mps I just went with the acro. But the MPs places itself in a great position as it is more affordable and has the top mount battery instead of the side. I think it’s a great name at a reasonable price point
