I almost bought the mossberg, I did by the mossberg jm pro ,I like it was hoping to use it as a competition gun ,so I decided on the a300 for a tactical shot gun ,and I am glad I did the fit and finish is very good ,my cousin got the 1301 and I still like mine better . I payed good money for the jm pro, and I think they need to give the customers their money's worth . I have tried to out run them both and can't and they both eat what I put in them but the a300 feel is hands down the better gun
I have a Landon Tactical 1301 because I need adult supervision when buying guns. But I love that A300. I've looked at both the Mossberg 940, and the A300 and I agree with you. The A300 looks and feels superior for the same money. And it's a Beretta made in the good ol U.S. Of A.
I love Mossberg but when you said that you can get the Beretta for the same money, I was sold on the Beretta. Thank you for the review and comparison between these two.
I just found your channel recently and you're quickly becoming one of my go to resources for quality reviews and information. I appreciate that you take an actual stand here rather than trying to split the baby and please both manufacturers PR departments. I recently chose an A300 Ultima over a Mossberg 940 and struggled with the choice and was frustrated that all the other big channels wouldn't touch that comparison. Fortunately I made the right choice but I would have been much more confident in it if I had found your channel and seen this review first. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing your channel grow.
That is awesome to hear! The only time we fence sit is when both options are great and if that’s the case we will say that, otherwise if there is a better option, we will say so!
I bought the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical 5 months ago after reading and watching many good and glowing reviews. I have been unable to use this shotgun since I bought it. I have experienced the problems shown in the video only much worse! Only 6 rounds fired when to gun became completely locked up. The bolt and slide assemblies had chips, gouges and metal scraping. The inside receiver wall was severely damaged from metal scraping. Returned to Mossberg for repair with absolutely no difference. I was shocked to find Mossberg Customer Support personnel extremely rude. Until now I have been very happy with the Mossberg pump shotguns, even the Maverick 88.
If you don’t mind me asking please, how’s the recoil? My adolescent child is getting into trap shooting so I wonder if this would be smooth enough for a skinny 15 yr old…
Many Thanks for you objective comparison of these two shotguns. It's profoundly refreshing to hear a reviewer actually express a frank and forthright assessment for a change. I generally pay little heed to reviews due to the simple fact that 99% of the people doing them act like they are walking on eggshells when it comes to issuing any legitimate criticism of a firearm. Such reviews are a disservice to the listeners because they fall well short of the type of honest evaluation potential buyers are hoping to see. This is especially troubling when it come to gun purchases because there are few instances where one can actually 'try out' a firearm before buying it. Your review helped me hop off the fence of indecision and I am now the proud owner of a Beretta A300 Patrol!
Awesome! Happy to hear that. That’s the point! We experienced that before the channel and we strive to provide people feed back they can count on! Enjoy that A300!
I own the A300 and I shoot it often and high rapid fire as fast as my AR15s with no problems. I owned the mossy 930 and got rid of it. Crap compared to A300. I got the berretta for $850.
I weighed out all the pros/cons on 590 vs 870, 930/940 vs A300, 1301T, M1014, AR style mag shotguns, and anything that would check boxes. The absolute overall winner by a small but important margin was the 1301T. While I was on the fence between standard and pistol grip stock, I got an email about the Mod2. That day I got off the fence and ordered in a 1301T Mod 2 with the Mesa pistol grip. I absolutely do not regret my decision. However, at some point I may still get an A300 to leave in the truck. The tiger stripe was pretty tempting, seriously. 590A1 is the only mossberg I think is priced according to its actual factual value. Jerry may be running a “940” but it isn’t anything like the production gun, to be sure. Keep putting out solid reviews brother.
Thank you! I’m sure you are super happy with that 1301! I have a 1301 competition about 7 years ago and it was fantastic. They are hard to beat. Mossberg makes a good pump gun, but to say they make a shotgun that truly competes with what Beretta, Benelli or Franchi makes, they do not.
@@kevinswenson A300 Patrol had a limited edition tiger stripe finish in release. As far as I understand, they are all gone now. Pretty sure every trident level beretta dealer had at least one in release though.
I have a 590 and have problems with light primer strikes emailed mossberg and they didn't help much never buying mossberg again. Leaning towards the a300
Out of respect for you (and watch-time) I viewed this to the end. That said, my mind was made up at the halfway point - when the Mossberg feed-jammed. I've seen your other videos on the A300 but I've not yet purchased. Everything I see indicates that this Beretta sets the new standard. And - it's just my opinion but I think the commentator wearing the camo is smarter AND way better looking! Respect from BC
I've owned my A300 patrol since Dec put about 600+ rounds through multiple different loads hasn't jammed once its very smooth and quality. Best bang for your buck. If you have beneli money then get one. If you wanna save money and still have fun get an a300.
Beretta or Mossberg? Niether ! If you don't own a Benelli M4 you're POS!! LOL All kidding aside I tend to lean towards Beretta. Old school mentality I guess. both are nice though.
I have had and have Mossbergs all my life. They are affordable and reliable and that's all I need. I have a 500, 590A1, 930SPX and my most recent buy the 940 Pro Tactical. I have all i need and want . 😊
Look I have had my 930SPX for more the 5 years and I have put over 500 rounds thru it and it has yet to jam. Clean your guns properly and they'll last almost forever 😊. Enough said 👍
Man you don't even gotta clean them. They're shotgun smoothbores. Lube it up and you're good to go. I think the lifespan will be just fine even if you got a bunch of gunky carbon in the reciever and such
I paid $1200 for my 1301 Tactical Marinecote brand new and added the Nordic extension tube for $150. I'm extremely satisfied with it. I recommend the A300 to anyone who isn't as particular, but wants a damn good shotgun. They corrected certain ergonomics with the patrol that I wish was on the 1301, but I can live with it.
LGS had a used 940 pro with Holosun 407k mounted for 750. Almost picked it up a couple days ago but I remembered the issues ive seen with the 940 and walked away.
They just kidding about the gear it was a good review and you sold me on the Beretta but what happened to the price on the Benelli oh my god when it came out it was 1300 anyways thanks
I gotta say I still like the 940 better. My friend recently got one his came with the holosun red dot on it for about a thousand bucs from buds I believe. We put about 250 shells through it and it had no problems at all. I like where the safety is mounted and on the thunder ranch version which is the one I'm ordering in a couple weeks for just over 900 bucs from buds it has a bigger safety switch and it's that beautiful fde color. I also prefer a smooth front stock just more comfortable to me and if later I decide for some reason I need texture I will throw some grip tape on it. I'll give you the rattle on the front stock although his doesn't seem near as bad as yours. I also like the position of the red dot where it's milled. I don't love the plastic barrel clamp but thats a 50 dollar swap no biggie. I also love the qd mounts on the thunder ranch version for a sling. So I'm all in on the mossberg in fairness I haven't had an opportunity to shoot the Beretta but I can't see any way it would be better for me. Enjoy your videos and you asked for opinions so thought I'd give mine
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Happy to hear you like the 940! It’s not a bad shotgun at all, just not for me. Hope you enjoy the thunder ranch version!
Only clicked because the thumbnail made me want to respond with beretta, obviously. I guess I'll hang around and see what is said about the both of them. LOL
No objection to your conclusion. Free Speech! However, you came out the gate in the first 2 minutes with your bias. Is there no objectivity any more? How about start the video with some sort of objective statement. I stopped watching after you told me at 1:52 that you didn't like the shotgun, and it didn't do well in your previous review. Why should I keep watching. Your mind was made up?????
We made two separate review videos of each gun, then put them side by side in a video for direct comparison. Besides I won’t mince words as I just bought an A300 Ultima Competition today, mossberg makes a shit semi auto shotguns and they literally couldn’t pay us for a review. There is nothing about them which is comparable. I regret purchasing the 940 Pro Tactical more than any gun this year, except for my PSA Super SASS.
Wow, comment removed that fast. Gotta love the neofascists at YT. Repost: Toss both barrels into ye olde Harbor Freight drill press and port them, then lob 1,000 3" magnum shells through them. I know the Mossberg will survive just fine. I'd hope the Beretta would, but that's the point of the test. A Benelli will not. I just picked up a 940 for 600. I've owned multiple 590s. First one was a 590a1 and was great. Second one was a NIB 590. I had to take it apart and file all of the tips of the metal workings due to flashing. It wasn't obvious at first, but caused a lot of problems the last 3 rounds. Then I wiped everything down with polishing compound and racked it a few hundred times. After that it worked great! :) I can't wait to see what unfinished, unrefined bits I find in the 940! Still, just like a Mopar and a T34, it'll work for almost ever. I've owned only Beretta pistols and a couple old M38As. Love Beretta. Some day I'll grab one of their shotguns.
Everything I've gotten from Mossberg the last 10 years has been absolute TRASH. Just bought the A300 and already have a Beretta 1301. They are the best gas operated shotguns on themarket.
I really appreciate this review. You said what you thought were the differences and why. You gave a definite opinion based on those differences. You pointed out where each gun fits in on the spectrum. Thank you!
Thank you for comparing the 2. I am glad you confirmed I made the correct choice. I beleive the msrp of the 1301 tac2 is around 1800 now because it is the updated new one but I will never out shoot the life of the a300
Just gonna put this out there, CZ 712 Utility G2 currently on sale at SW for Three 99. With that savings, you can add a Carlson's 8 shot tube, ATI pistol grip stock, strike industries barrel clamp with pick rail and QD, and Ohunt pic rail clamp for the barrel rib and possibly come out at the price of those or cheaper (including Red Dot) if you hunt around the Internet for deals. Both those guns win as-is off the shelf, but the CZ 712 Utility G2 is easy to accessorize and worth the look.
I choose the Mossberg 940 pro tactical before doing any research. 500 slugs through it with no hiccups. But i do wonder if i should of went all out with an LTT 1301
Ive tried to outrun my A300 patrol numerous times. Can't do it. I can't justify buying the 1301 for a thousand dollar difference. Though I do like the rotating self cleaning bolt in the 1301 but it does the job and does it phenomenal. Absolutely worth the money and performance. Ive debate this will my FFL on numerous occasions and we came to the same conclusion. That extra $700-1000 price difference isn't worth the performance you get from the A300 patrol
@@HuntFishShootChannel the A300 Ultima patrol is a fantastic firearm. To me there seems no reason to upgrade to a firearm that doesn't perform any better at the price difference. The A300 is fantastic within its capability.
Obviously it's a sample size of one for each of us but I haven't had near the issues you have with the 940 and I've had mine longer and put more rounds through it. I did have an issue the first 100-200 rounds where chambering the first round from the mag tube where it seemed the bolt would lock with the shell on the lifter. I'd push up lightly on the lifter and it would chamber the round, that has seemingly worked itself out. The mag tube/handguard nut has never come loose on me. Now mine is not cerakoted that could explain some of your issues depending on what and where that one got the cerakot. Like you said you couldn't get the optic on with out sanding it down while I did not have that issue. The handguard is creaky like yours and I hate it, however I ultimately chose the 940 because I like the tang safety mine is not as stiff as yours seems to be, again probably cerakot. My first firearm was a Mossberg 500 and my home defense/combat shotgun gor the past 7 years is a 590 so I wanted the familiar safety and parts interchange. I did get to hold the A300 in the store before ultimately ordering the 940 and I agree the fit and finish is better the handguard and it's texturing is way better but I am happy with my choice for the most part I just hope the aftermarket or even Mossberg makes a better replacement handguard and magpul makes one of their stocks for it. If that happens I'll maybe I'll stop dreaming about the 1301. Lol
I’m curious why you would want to have both of these, unless it’s just for the purposes of collecting. If you need two shotguns of this type, a strong case could be made that you’re better off standardizing on one so that you’re fully familiar at all times with the same weapon. If these Perform differently in various applications, I’d like to know what those differences are.
@user-eo7sz8kk6x Caliber is the standard. Everything else is preference. From a preparedness point, if you crosstrain on different variations of a weapon system, you can pick any up and be proficient anywhere, anytime, any scenario.
My only complaint with my A300 is the cheap polymer sites. My rear was broken from the store I bought it from. Obviously it was dropped. I wish I could find some aftermarket steel replacements?? I own a 930 JM pro and it has been excellent too. I agree that it needs cleaned more often.
Got my Beretta 1301 tac brand new for 1300. If I didn’t have the 1301, I’d go with the 300. Beretta shotguns are hands-down the best guns around. Never let me down, 4000 rounds later
Great review and definitely making me reconsider an A300 over a 940. Not sure I agree you that you need more than a bead sight to shoot slugs. 6:45 Numerous people take shotgun classes that involve hitting life sized targets with slugs and bead sights at 100 yards and the vast majority of students can do so by the end of the class. Now, for hunting deer, I would definitely not use a bead since accuracy for an ethical shot trumps speed.
I own both and couldn't agree more on your assessment. The Beretta is just better quality shotgun from fit and finish to performance and reliability. Although depending on your needs, the Mossberg wouldn't be a bad choice. However, looking back... I would've rather saved my $$$ and bought the 1301. Just my 2 cents...
I chose the Patrol - they're both good enough but the Patrol is compatible with all the chokes I have for my 3-gun Stoeger comp gun AND my A300 Ultima duck gun so I'm already 'familiar' with it. Being cheaper and available was just a bonus.
In my country (Thailand) the price of guns is very expensive. Beretta and Benelliare the same price, so most people prefer Bennelli Thai barettas are rarely used. Personally I use the 940 pro tac as it is 2 times cheaper than the beretta. Good review.
Thank you for this review. I have been able to shoot my son's 940 Pro Tactical and did like the feel and functionality, but this video helped make my decision to go with the A300 Ultima Patrol.
Yikes. I love my 590A1 so the 940 was on my short list for when I do decide to get a semiauto but this review gave me a lot to consider. I've been looking for a A300 Patrol vs 940 Tactical video for a while and this seemed genuinely fair. Thanks for the analysis of these two firearms.
Thanks for comparison + series. I bought a 940 in late '22 after a shit experience w/ a Stoeger M3000. I've really enjoyed the 940 and haven't had a failure through about 600 rounds. I like the recessed optic cut and low-profile front sight. I would concede most of the other objective points you hit though. I don't have any experience w/ Beretta but I'll have to handle one of these next time I'm in the store. Always good to get something in hand and feel it out and the grey looks excellent. I just recently installed an HB Industries Barrel Clamp + QD/MLOK setup on the 940 - which lets me mount a light way up tight to the barrel and flush at the end. I need to test it next week. No loss of light to barrel shadow.
@@dnut1987 I could not get it to cycle anything reliably. Tried a bunch of different ammo. I sent it back 2x, they said it only runs a certain DRAM level and to use that spec ammo. I also had the plastic ghost sight break when they shipped it back to me.
@@dnut1987i absolutely love my m3000 and have had nothing but good things to say about it been totally reliable. And most semi autos like 3 dram or better , shooting less than a 3 dram in any semi auto is asking for issues . I’ve had no problems with mine at all and shoot it every weekend with a multitude of rounds including 1280 fps # 8 I wouldn’t worry about your m3000
I was really hoping the Mossberg was going to be a competitive gun. I have a slew of auto loading shotguns! FN SLP, 1301, M2, 930spx, Stoeger M3000(which in my opinion is the best kept budget secret in shotguns) . Hell i even have an old Mossberg 9200 and a custom Rem 1187 built by a now deceased local Smith. The A300 is 100% on my gonna have it list....and who knows? Maybe the 940 someday too...I was pretty disappointed day 1 with the 940 because of the lack of sights. Im not a fan of optics on a combat shotgun. I suspect the biggest reason for no sights was purchase cost, but im not gonna rule out previous issues with canted fronts on the 930 either.....the 930(which now runs like a champ after some work) was 75% of what I wanted.....and the length of pull and lack of options to fix it was a let down....I think the 940 is probably 80% of what I hoped for and the competition is just pulling away ....
I have been a Mossberg guy for decades. That said, mine have been pumps, except for one 20 ga. auto. From what I see in this video, the Beretta is the superior gun, at least in these offerings.
Your range seems to need an upgrade look up the AbramsMFG post. They are the best in the industry Industrial grade shooting systems with only half inch AR 500 plates and virtually indestructible
I own all three brands. I can't help but respect the mossberg pump actions. They're going to outlive me. The 930 was....not good without modding it. The A300 is just a little better imo for the price than the 940 pro models. I usually recommend the 1301 to people who are willing to save a little more or wait for a sale. It's just an opinion, of course. I think the 1301 is the most well rounded mass produced shotgun ever made. That being said, my all-time favorite shotgun is the Benelli M3....but it's slightly modified. The M4 also requires some... changes. If you're going to spend 2000 usd on a shotgun...buy an A300 and use the rest on gear and ammo to train with. I doubt you'll regret it.
Lolololol 1500 round cleaning. I have a beretta 391 trap shotgun that went 6500 rounds wirhout clwaning in 2 seasons of trap back to back Eventually celt bad and cleaned it. Shkuld have kept it going. Rem oil sprayed the action every time. But cleaning. Nah not needed on the beretta. And rhe a300 uses the same old but bulletproof gas system and bolt of the 391
I've seen vids with how the Beretta had issues then poor customer service. Even with that, when they did get their shotgun back from Beretta with no explanation what was done, it did work. With Mossberg 940 issues, better customer service but some still with the same issues they sent it in for. I'm staying with my 590S pump, but if I bought an auto, even before this vid, I'd go with the Beretta. Too many people in the know singing praises for it.
I have the A300 Ultima Patrol. It is amazing. Mossberg stopped caring about quality. My wife has the Mossberg MVP chassis, and the trigger is GARBAGE. It has a center safety like a glock, and it causes the trigger to malfunction if you put even the slightest side pressure. It is a KNOWN problem, there are hundreds of posts about it, and Mossberg Customer Assistance flat out denied that this issue existed when I called about it. No more Mossbergs in our house from here on.
My concern is, and maybe it's just me, both shotguns have plastic parts at the fore end. Why, especially for what they cost ? To me reliability is the most important factor and based on your reviews and others I'm leaning towards the Beretta. I agree with you that a lot of the Big Boy RUclips channels don't mention anything negative on their reviews.
Thank you! The only polymer part is the barrel clamp and handguard/ forend itself on the Beretta. The tube is metal encapsulated in polymer if this helps for clarity!
Buy once, cry once. I bought a 1301 grimacing at the price. I have never looked back, in fact I bought the mode 2 I liked the LE so much. I don't like the Mesa Tactical version and have grown to hate the pistol grip. That will be changed and the upgrades on the rest of the mode 2 are worth it. Both have not had a malfunction ever. They recoil lightly and shoot fast. The 1301s are really fun to shoot. I would never believe I would be writing that statement about a shotgun for anything other than bird hunting.
I'm always a fan of shotguns. Really prefer pump guns due to simplicity and durability, Mossy 590SP. Plus, no problems with less than lethal shells. But the consistent capability for rapid shots is a plus with a semi shotgun. I am very impressed with the Beretta A300. Also, the Beretta 1301. No matter what shotgun you have, there are upgrades you should consider. Start with an oversized safety. Next get a barrel block. A barrel block is a machined block of aluminum alloy to brace the steel barrel and the thin walled aluminum tube magazine. Next a good tactical sling. Larry Vickers, Blue Force Tactical sling or Kyle Lamb's Viking sling. Put QD connectors for the sling around the muzzle area. That way you can patrol with the gun facing the side of your patrol direction. If you can add an optics rail. And a clamp on optic. You don't really need an optic most of the time. Long shots with slugs is better with optics.
Got them both, no problems with either, mine has gone 2500 rounds apiece,,,,,,without cleaning either. They are made for that so yeah, just shoot the guns. I will clean them when one finally stops running, that is the goal. The Beretta to me is a better overall gun but neither is a slouch,,at all.
Thanks for the honest reviews and even coming back to give us an honest follow up. I wanted the thunder ranch 940 pro tac sooo freaking bad but you saved me.
My buddy bought the 940 pro tactical and I bought the 1301. I felt pretty bad when we went to the range. No malfunctions with heavy shot, but the weight was much heavier and the felt recoil was much worst, even being what felt as 2 to 3 times heavier. The fit and finish were 60 years apart. It felt chinese. I agree here. Not a 1000 gun. My buddy knew he made a mistake. And I don't even like beretta, but, it was the funnest gun I've shot. 7 shots under 2 seconds and fire everywhere. Shot 75 00 buckshot and could have shot all day. It's a 2024 tech gun.
I have both a Mossberg 940 JM Pro with a +3 extension and the A300 Ultima. Both have worked flawlessly until needing cleaning. I like that GG&G makes key metal parts for the Ultima and you can put a metal adjustable 1301 rear sight on the A300 since it has cracked already.
Best review/comparison I've seen on these so far. I ended up going with the Beretta.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Same. I love it
Thank you for your review, bought the A300 because you were so thorough with both shotguns, I seen other reviews and yours was the best

OUTSTANDING VIDEO. Thanks for the comparison. Looks like I'm going to buy the A300, although PSA has the 1301 on sale for $1399.
For 1400! That’s a great deal! A300 is a great choice! Thanks for watching!
I have a Landon Tactical 1301 because I need adult supervision when buying guns. But I love that A300. I've looked at both the Mossberg 940, and the A300 and I agree with you. The A300 looks and feels superior for the same money. And it's a Beretta made in the good ol U.S. Of A.
I need supervised too!
Beretta
Beretta 1301 Mod 2 for the win.
For sure!
Depends on my finances at the time.
The Beretta is not available in my area so whether it is better or not is a moot point.
What is your area by chance?
Order through PSA or Bud's guns. Have them ship it to your local FFL dealer.
A review that is not based on gun sales, an honest review, thank you.
That’s always the case for us 💪
Not gonna lie, I was wincing while watching. Want both boomsticks but my wallet is still recovering from buying a Benelli. On my "to-do" list FS

Awesome!
If you don’t mind me asking please, how’s the recoil? My adolescent child is getting into trap shooting so I wonder if this would be smooth enough for a skinny 15 yr old…

I own the A300 and I shoot it often and high rapid fire as fast as my AR15s with no problems. I owned the mossy 930 and got rid of it. Crap compared to A300. I got the berretta for $850.
Great pick up!
Where did you find one with the tiger stripe?
@@kevinswenson A300 Patrol had a limited edition tiger stripe finish in release. As far as I understand, they are all gone now. Pretty sure every trident level beretta dealer had at least one in release though.
I have a 590 and have problems with light primer strikes emailed mossberg and they didn't help much never buying mossberg again. Leaning towards the a300
The only thing you might have missed evaluating is an A300. For the money I’d get an A300 now if I didn’t already have a couple 1301 comps.
Hahha thank you! thanks for watching and we appreciate you watching it all the way through!
Benelli sets the standard. Would take the M4 tactical over both of these.
@IneptSystem this is true!
@@OrangeGuyBlows Not an apples-to-apples comparison. The Benelli is DOUBLE the price of both of these!
An honest review for a change on RUclips. Thank you. I run a Remington model 11 sawed off to 18.5. Keeping it retro 😊
Hell yeah! Happy to provide some honesty!
I had the Mossberg SPX 930, sold it and bought the A300 Ultima Patrol. Frickin love it, way better gun, recoil is less as well.
Hell yeah 💪
I have had and have Mossbergs all my life. They are affordable and reliable and that's all I need. I have a 500, 590A1, 930SPX and my most recent buy the 940 Pro Tactical. I have all i need and want . 😊
That’s great I’m glad to hear that!
Besides I am American made and I don't need Berretta to enjoy using a shot or shotguns . 😊 thanks
Do not sleep on barretta
That’s awesome and a great deal!
LGS had a used 940 pro with Holosun 407k mounted for 750. Almost picked it up a couple days ago but I remembered the issues ive seen with the 940 and walked away.
That’s a good choice. I got mine for 1049 then put the dot on it. I don’t think all of
Them have issues but some do with reliability
They just kidding about the gear it was a good review and you sold me on the Beretta but what happened to the price on the Benelli oh my god when it came out it was 1300 anyways thanks
You’re absolutely correct! The Beretta is superior!
For sure!
I was trying to decide of the two which to pick up for a home defense weapon. Thank you for the non-biased comparison review. This has helped me alot.
Happy to help!
Just picked my Beretta A300 yesterday... Love it !!
That’s no surprise to us!
The production quality of this channel is insanely high. Really enjoying the content. Please keep it coming!
Thank you! We try! 💪 appreciate the support and thanks for tuning in!
Only clicked because the thumbnail made me want to respond with beretta, obviously.
I guess I'll hang around and see what is said about the both of them. LOL
Yeah well it’s beretta obviously 😂
That first part is literally 90% of arguments. it almost sounds like the ATF when making new laws
Truth!
Thank you, I almost pulled the trigger on the mossberg.I'm going with a Beretta 1301.
Hell yeah! 💪
I recently bought two. Baretta A300 semi & Moss 590A1 Retrograde pump 😍
Hell yeah!
Repost:
Toss both barrels into ye olde Harbor Freight drill press and port them, then lob 1,000 3" magnum shells through them.
I can't wait to see what unfinished, unrefined bits I find in the 940! Still, just like a Mopar and a T34, it'll work for almost ever.
I've owned only Beretta pistols and a couple old M38As. Love Beretta. Some day I'll grab one of their shotguns.
Great thanks for sharing!
Everything I've gotten from Mossberg the last 10 years has been absolute TRASH. Just bought the A300 and already have a Beretta 1301. They are the best gas operated shotguns on themarket.
Absolutely they are! Welcome to the club Ray! 💪
Answered all the questions I hadn't even thought of. Thank you. 🙌
Good!
I really appreciate this review. You said what you thought were the differences and why. You gave a definite opinion based on those differences. You pointed out where each gun fits in on the spectrum. Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for comparing the 2.
I am glad you confirmed I made the correct choice. I beleive the msrp of the 1301 tac2 is around 1800 now because it is the updated new one but I will never out shoot the life of the a300
Thanks for watching!
What do you get, objectively and practically, with the A300 that you don't get with the 1301?
They are identical with the exception of the operating system on the 1301 is different
Yes you certainly could go that route!
@@HuntFishShootChannel I did, wish I could upload a photo of the build. I don't know why CZ doesn't offer a tactical shotgun, so I made one.
I choose the Mossberg 940 pro tactical before doing any research. 500 slugs through it with no hiccups. But i do wonder if i should of went all out with an LTT 1301
Just ordered the A300! Am stoked about it, your video was more confirmation! Great video and review.
Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!
I couldn’t agree more!
@@HuntFishShootChannel the A300 Ultima patrol is a fantastic firearm. To me there seems no reason to upgrade to a firearm that doesn't perform any better at the price difference. The A300 is fantastic within its capability.
@notarobot638 absolutely!
Timmaaa!
Mossberg 590-A1 with a Vang Comp port system
Great pump gun
Excellent review! Can’t wait to spend the coin on one!
Awesome!
Lol
Thanks for sharing your experience! Appreciate you watching!
I'm a Mossburg Man but both have a Place in my armory
In a comment HALCOGHILL said a 1301 rear sight would mount on the A300 rear because his cracked too...He said the 1301 is mettle....
Got my Beretta 1301 tac brand new for 1300. If I didn’t have the 1301, I’d go with the 300. Beretta shotguns are hands-down the best guns around. Never let me down, 4000 rounds later
Awesome!
If the Mossberg can't be relied upon to shoot EVERY TIME, then it's NOT a defensive shotgun. It's a POS.
Unfortunately the case
Great review and definitely making me reconsider an A300 over a 940. Not sure I agree you that you need more than a bead sight to shoot slugs. 6:45 Numerous people take shotgun classes that involve hitting life sized targets with slugs and bead sights at 100 yards and the vast majority of students can do so by the end of the class. Now, for hunting deer, I would definitely not use a bead since accuracy for an ethical shot trumps speed.
Thank you.
Exactly! The mossberg isn’t bad, it’s just not the Beretta and I think if you got the coin, the 1301 is best you can get outside of an Benelli M4
The intro was great! How did you do that??
Great honest review. These were the two I was down to, ended up choosing the Beretta and love it. Now saving my pennies for a 1301!
Hell yeah!
Thanks for the comparison.
Thanks for watching!
Been looking forward to this comparison. We'll done. A300 all day.
Thank you!
I chose the Patrol - they're both good enough but the Patrol is compatible with all the chokes I have for my 3-gun Stoeger comp gun AND my A300 Ultima duck gun so I'm already 'familiar' with it. Being cheaper and available was just a bonus.
That’s awesome! 💪
In my country (Thailand) the price of guns is very expensive. Beretta and Benelliare the same price, so most people prefer Bennelli
Thai barettas are rarely used.
Personally I use the 940 pro tac as it is 2 times cheaper than the beretta.
Good review.
I can certainly understand that! Makes more sense to get the 940 then 👍
Hope you move to the u.s. one day. Glad you're a gun supporter and a very rare gunowner in Asia
@@jason200912 many thanks.
I have hope to move country when my child goes to university.I will go to Colorado.
Thank you for this review. I have been able to shoot my son's 940 Pro Tactical and did like the feel and functionality, but this video helped make my decision to go with the A300 Ultima Patrol.
Happy to help!
Yikes. I love my 590A1 so the 940 was on my short list for when I do decide to get a semiauto but this review gave me a lot to consider. I've been looking for a A300 Patrol vs 940 Tactical video for a while and this seemed genuinely fair. Thanks for the analysis of these two firearms.
I’ve had Mossbergs and recently got a beretta and won’t go back I guess Italians do make the best shotguns.
This is a solid review. Thanks
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing your experience
What challenges did you have with the Stoeger? Was it the Defense model?
@@dnut1987 I could not get it to cycle anything reliably. Tried a bunch of different ammo. I sent it back 2x, they said it only runs a certain DRAM level and to use that spec ammo. I also had the plastic ghost sight break when they shipped it back to me.
@@Kendye6 Gulp! I recently picked one up!
@@dnut1987i absolutely love my m3000 and have had nothing but good things to say about it been totally reliable. And most semi autos like 3 dram or better , shooting less than a 3 dram in any semi auto is asking for issues .

I wouldn’t worry about your m3000
Yesss! Been waiting for this vid. Good job on the comparison video. This was really entertaining. Im with team Berreta btw.

I was dead set on buying a 940, but I think you talked me into the A300.
Good video. Thanks for the comparison.

I’ll be getting the A300 just picked up a 590m with a salvo 12 suppessor today pretty cool
That’s awesome! 💪
All excellent points!
Excellent review, made my decision easier. Going with the Beretta A300.
I have been a Mossberg guy for decades. That said, mine have been pumps, except for one 20 ga. auto. From what I see in this video, the Beretta is the superior gun, at least in these offerings.
It sure is! Thanks for watching
Your range seems to need an upgrade look up the AbramsMFG post. They are the best in the industry
Industrial grade shooting systems with only half inch AR 500 plates and virtually indestructible
Thanks for the information!
Great points!
I’m always looking for a shotgun where you can get an extra half a shell in the magazine. 🤦🏻♂️
Do you know why that’s important? Because if you did, you wouldn’t be saying that.
And rhe a300 uses the same old but bulletproof gas system and bolt of the 391
@@ARXDMOS it sure does! A well proven action!
Thanks for sharing
slugs: did you keep the same choke, remove, remove and replace, or adjust?
I have the A300 Ultima Patrol. It is amazing. Mossberg stopped caring about quality. My wife has the Mossberg MVP chassis, and the trigger is GARBAGE. It has a center safety like a glock, and it causes the trigger to malfunction if you put even the slightest side pressure. It is a KNOWN problem, there are hundreds of posts about it, and Mossberg Customer Assistance flat out denied that this issue existed when I called about it. No more Mossbergs in our house from here on.
Understandable!
Win win no matter what you choose.
Great input!
Dig your channel man, surprised I’m just seeing you now! Subbed!
Also, A300 Ultima Patrol is the best value. It’s light as hell too!
Thanks man! Appreciate the support! It’s an awesome shotgun!
Looking to pick up a MOD2 in FDE here soon!
All great points!
Picked up the 930 for ~$600 when the 940 came out.
That was the ticket imo. Awesome semi-auto for that cash
Great thanks for sharing!
For sure!
Dude, if you had mag dumped em both at the same time and called it I would have laughed till the end of days. Thnaks for the vid!
I coulda 😂😂😂😂
I have both a Mossberg 940 JM Pro with a +3 extension and the A300 Ultima. Both have worked flawlessly until needing cleaning. I like that GG&G makes key metal parts for the Ultima and you can put a metal adjustable 1301 rear sight on the A300 since it has cracked already.
Good to know
Excellent comparison. Very thorough, thank you.
