Got rid of social media minus RUclips years ago and LOVE my clarity of heart and mind! I’m so much more content, grateful, present and I stay connected deeply with my village instead of staying broadly connected with many. It’s WORTH IT ALL! 🙏💗🤗👏
I left Instagram (permanently deleted) over a month ago! Such a good decision. I felt like even after taking breaks, I would return to my old habits slowly... because the algorithms are designed to be difficult to navigate in a healthy way. I love the homesteading communities/content over there... but my life is just slightly better without it! The final straw for me was the desire to experience my life like the beautiful moments STILL exist and are just as valuable without having to post them. God bless!
So true, I've thought the same thing, its tooo easy to get right back into the addicting habit of it! It's so encouraging to hear others on the same journey! God bless you Abigail!
Can’t wait to watch this! My goal is to be off of IG and FB all of 2023 and I’m enjoying it so much at this point I’m contemplating deleting forever - we shall see!
I've never used social media besides Discord, and I've mostly given that up. I've helped my wife to stop using Instagram altogether and facebook mostly. She still uses it some for marketplace and messaging, but much less than before. Social media is toxic, draining, isolating, enervating, anti-social, vain, and evil with its programming. My favorite verse on the matter: "Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; And quicken thou me in thy way." Psalm 119:37
We removed all social media more than 5 years ago and it's one of the best decisions we ever made. It was the first step towards leading a more fulfilling life. Now that we create content and are learning to treat it as a business, we are doing a lot of reflecting to decide if social media for business purposes goes against our own morals. Social Media is a tool, that can be used for good and bad. For now, we've limited our focus to RUclips only. I don't think there is a black and white answer that can be applied to everyone. You have to decide what is right for YOU. Proud of you for following your convictions - it's not always an easy thing to do. Bravo! 😇
I also deleted my Instagram account after using for about one month, I feel alone sometimes, but ya I stopped feeling inferiority complex, insta makes feel worse about you, people literally fake their lives, they show perfect everything, perfect life perfect date, every time happy, it can't be possible every time, so I did Thanks for the video❤
A while back I removed Instagram and Telegram from my phone. I did download them to my old phone which I keep charged as a back up for hurricane season. I have found that I now only check those apps once or twice a month. I don't miss them and it was a good way to begin stepping away. Going to do the same with Facebook after listening to you today. Been wanting to cut that tie for a while. Increasing my attention span alone would be worth it. Thanks for sharing such thought provoking and God honoring content! 💗✝️💗
I’ve also had awful feelings towards IG & FB, but IG is far worse. Everything you’re saying is spot on. I took a break and came back but keep teeter tottering on how to move forward.
Hi Dorothy! Yes, I remember you navigating these same things, it is amazing how so many of us are in the same boat with this. I hope you are doing well and having a good winter!
Oh my lanta, YES! Soo much information overload. Its ridiculous. And its not good apparently because people are becoming too sensitive to what others put out. That mug is too cute!! I've been on the hunt for a pottery mug like that for so long
I am seriously tempted to delete youtube tbh. I lose so much time on it and those I wish to follow, aren’t easy to see on it. I respect you coming off Instagram and being more mindful in how you spend your time. A tip for us all…! Hope you are well
I totally get that! I think what I like about youtube is it doesn't really require your full attention, you can have it playing while doing other things, that being said, thats what makes podcast the most ideal in my opinion!
@@ScottandKelli totally agree. I really try and limit my RUclips consumption to when I'm cleaning, cooking, baking, etc. I rarely just sit & watch. I'm not on any other social media. That said, RUclips definitely has some design elements built into it that are intentionally to make you fall down rabbit holes and become addicted. ♥️🇨🇦
Indiana…how cool. Our family recently moved here from south MS a few months ago. We’re in southern Indiana, if y’all ever come back this way, would love to connect! Totally can relate with the distraction part. I’ve deleted Instagram off my phone so many times. Sounds like it’s time to give it the boot again.
Wow, how amazing y'all moved to Indiana?! Do you happen to be near Brookville/Batesville area?! If so I have some milk and farm stall places I can share with you! I hope you've had a good transition so far. I love Indiana! And I hear you with the struggles of Instagram, I still contemplate getting back on, but at the same time I don't have much desire to, so I'm going to hold off on it haha
Hey Kelli! This is off topic, but I thought you would really like the book "The Iodine Crisis" by Lynne Farrow. It's fascinating and I can't put it down. I learned this week that my iodine is extremely low and after the first dose I've had dramatic improvements in health, including a "steroid dependent dermatitis" almost completely went away- something I have battled with for months. It also has a big impact on hormones and fertility too. I'm wondering if this is why I just had a miscarriage. Super interesting if you want to check it out 😊 God bless you!
Hi Christine, I am so sorry to hear you had a miscarriage. It is so painful, especially the unknowns of it. And I will have to check out the book thank you! I started supplementing iodine in the fall after finding out that lack of iodine could cause fertility issues and how most people are low in iodine. So this is such a confirmation to me! Thank you and God bless you!!
@@ScottandKelli yes!! You talking about the freely rooted podcast led me to get my HTMA done last year and that was such a blessing, so when I found out about the iodine I wanted to reach out. Just sent my hair back in for a follow up, hope I get better results this year. I think things are looking promising 🥰 I feel like I'm on a simular health journey as you so fun to watch your videos!
Update!! I had a bad healing crisis one night with the iodine so I am not going to progress as the book or Dr. Brownstein recommend. Not saying they are wrong or right, but I just can't go that extreme right now. Just going to take my prenatals with the recommended elemental iodine. But very interesting none the less 😊

I'm trying to block social media on all my devices but even youtube lowers my attention span
Agreed. I loose time on you tube.
Living in the moment is the best feeling ever.
I just need to get rid of my smartphone all together!
hahaha for real, it is tempting...
I was wondering where you went!! Glad you’re still here.

That is such a great idea doing it that way! And isn't it amazing how they are not missed!
I deactivated my FB about 6 weeks ago and I’m loving life without it. Hopefully, IG will be gone in a few months.

I agree. I have Facebook two times and got off it both times. Too upsetting and unsettling.

Yes, so true! And thank you , my mom got me a set of these for Christmas by a local potter!

@@ScottandKelli I love podcasts for their hands-off nature, I often multi-task mundane jobs with listening to a podcast.

Whitney, I miss you and think of you guys often! So thankful for the time we had together!
Yeah
Just watched this video and thought, let's do it. Let's delete Instagram. Yoohoo, I did it 👍👍👍
