I always mess up my platanos either because I left them in too long or they weren't ripe yet. I'm hoping my next batch comes out as good as this video. Thank you for sharing
Yummmm. I had plantains in Aruba, it was the diagonally sliced ones. Why is the smashed plantain better? It was sooooooooooo goooooooood with fresh caught fish and salsa. From a spot a local showed me.
That’s how you cook them. The name of this method is called tostones. It’s helps them taste crispier on the edges and soft on the inside. But if you just want to cook them to size and fry them, that’s fine.
Catch up on our Jamaican foods series 👉 bit.ly/3iEAA7j What should we make next 🤗😋???
The overripe bananas that you suggested to throw away are the best to use in a Banana Bread recipe.
Love banana bread. Thanks for the tip!!
Or you can use them for banana fritters
Ohh that’s a good idea 😁
For some reason I feel comforted by her voice lol can’t wait to make these plantains!

You’re right, we have to use our five senses when we cook❤
And it works every time 😊

Should I salt immediately after?
Yes while the grease is still hot on them
I love the smashed style too. Yes I feel the same way about them tasting sweeter too😂
@@hibiscusflower5911 yes, while they're still hot and greasy. It'll help the salt stick to them mo betta 🤙
"okay 🥹" 😂
Making me hungry!
Something about the way you’re saying it is cringing 😬 but looks good 🥰
Thankyou
Different recipe but looks very tasty
Thank You 😊
Thanks for the recipe I'm gonna subscribe now
Welcome to the Pham 😁
I made a video on how to make plantains and eggs, and let me tell u, it was bussin
You are really entertaining
Thank You 😊
This looks good. I fry my sweet plantains with a flour batter using sprite. It’s quite delicious with peanut sauce.
Never heard of that way. But we love peanut sauce too😊
Mix Sprite, flour, salt and a bit of sugar. Slice the plantain and put in the batter. Then fry and eat with peanut sauce.😋
You are teaching us something🙌. I will definitely think of you the next time we pick up plantains. We love trying new foods.
Loved the video, ty!
Once you buy the plantains, should you put them in the fridge to keep it more solid instead of a soft plantain
Iy you want, it’s not necessary. The softer plantain will be sweeter but you don’t want it too soft
Umm this is how you make tostones with GREEN plantain. You just slice up and fry sweet plantains once, maduros.
Sound like she from the DMV!
Yes we are😁
your baby sound so cute ok. Lol
Thank You 😊
Why do you smash them and fry them twice instead of cutting them to size and frying them through the first time? 🤔
That’s how you cook them. The name of this method is called tostones. It’s helps them taste crispier on the edges and soft on the inside. But if you just want to cook them to size and fry them, that’s fine.
@@RollingWithThePham I thought Tostones were more thinner and crispier like potato chips? Sorry but I'm learning 😂
It doesn’t have to be that thin because you don’t want them to burn
These are tostones
👍🏾😋
Is that a DMV accent I hear? 👀
Yes 😂 DMV Representing!!
Wrong spoon for deep fry
What is the correct one?
Nobody ever mentions the type of oil
That’s all we use.. it’s a better grade and it heats up good with high temperatures
She said Peanut oil
I also soak mine in sugar water for an hour and I use vegetable oil , if that helps.
Thanks for the tip
The way you’re pronouncing plantain 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
So annoying bruh
Too much commentary
What the f*** was this,,, how weird was it 🤮🤮🤮
What was weird?
