Humanrace Skincare By Pharrell - DERMATOLOGIST HONEST REVIEW

  • Unbiased review of the Humanrace skincare line that was just released by Pharrell.
    One month update: After 1 week, I tried the enzyme exfoliant again and experienced the same redness. So for the 3rd week, I used a gentle non-foaming cleanser (ceraVe hydrating cleanser) instead of the rice powder cleanser and followed that with the enzyme exfoliant. With this combination, I experienced no redness or irritation. The rice powder cleanser is a mild exfoliant and I think those two together were too much for my sensitive skin! Overall, I think the enzyme exfoliant is an amazing product but on the days you use it, go with a gentle non-exfoliating cleanser instead of the rice powder cleanser!

    -Packaging? 10/10 - Absolutely love it. Gender-neutral and refillable
    -Ingredients? Passes the vibe check
    -Efficacy? Helps with uneven skin texture, uneven tone, and anti-aging
    -Worth it? In my opinion - Yes!
    -Cautions? Awesome exfoliant but be careful with it! Make sure to wear sunscreen in the morning if using this exfoliator at night. It will make you more sensitive to the sun!

      Love your comment about travel and review. The truth is nothing here is new. Rice based cleansers, snow mushroom etc. Done and done. The popularity is probably due to the fact its Pharell and he is absolutely amazing. He pushes skin health but he also believes in the soul. The clever packaging that is sustainable. I see men using this for sure. And somehow he made this complex skincare landscape very simple to follow. And it’s totally inclusive of humankind. 🙏🏻🙌

    I’m 28, and was turned on to this skincare line by my roommate prior to she & I moving in together about 6 months ago and since then, my skin not only looks and feels healthier, but I’ve also delved into all forms of self care and am really enjoying it.
    As a guy whose idea of skincare was previously quite limited, I highly recommend this product.

    I purchased the line after watching the review and I actually really like it. The powder cleanser is surprisingly effective and I love the cream as well. I have very oily skin and usually creams break me out but my skin sucks it right up. I’ve only used the exfoliater once but I don’t have anything bad to say about it.

    If anyone grew up as a 90s baby and ever seen Pharrell’s music videos, the dude still looks exactly the same and never aged AT ALL! The dude is almost 50 and looks like he’s 18. That’s enough of a reason to justify buying the kit in my eyes.

      Let me first start by saying I'm not a hater, and I'm going to also try his skin care line but it is genetics. Pharrell even said on an interview a few months ago that he only wash his face with water nothing else up into about 5 years ago he just started a skin care items . Also I live in Virginia Beach and he still have multiple family members that live here including his mother and they all look like they are about 15 years old.

    Thank you so much for talking about the glycolic acid being dangerous for darker skin tones! I know loads op people who use this without any problem. Even i use this and it works so well. I think people of colour need to be extra cautious with the use of glycolic acid like you said. If you use it the right way, there shouldn’t be any issues. But again if some show signs of irritation they should avoid using this but not generalise and say poc shouldn’t use this 🤍

      There is a huge misconception about cruelty free topic. Be careful about cruelty free certifications, recognise if they are fake or recognized! Also be careful about peta's cruelty free pink bunny - that does not mean anything! To germans- balea and dm test cosmetic ingredients "somewhere in the world" as they stated. Ethical elephant site, crueltyfreekitty site can explain why you have to be very careful about cruelty free certifications and why the pink bunny doesnt mean anything, Only the leaping bunny is good. You need to ask the questions to the companies by yourself by email as the certifications can be just simply fake and those recognized can be false also.
      Here is a ready set of questions that you can email to your company:
      I have a few questions for your company, answer very thoroughly and clearly:
      - Do you test on animals at any point during the production of your products (ingredients and ready products)?
      - Do any third-parties test products and ingredients on animals on your behalf?
      -Do your suppliers test on animals?
      -Do you sell your products in countries where animal testing is required by law?
      -How do you test your products?
      -Do you have a parent company that tests on animals?
      -Are your products vegan?

    I think the issue with glycolic acid came about from dr. Vinita Rattan. however, people only took half of what she said and ran with it. She in fact uses glycolic acid in the products that her clinic makes for hyperpigmentation (she is also a cosmetic formulator). Her issue is when it is used in more than 5%, as skin or color is more likely to pigment from burns caused by high % of chemical exfoliation. She says it's safe to use it in low % and that it make not be the case for everyone with skin of colour but it is best to avoid as MANY people have caused their skin to burn and pigment. Also noting that over-exfoliation of any kind can do this and isn't limited to glycolic acid.

    • @Doctorly
      @Doctorly  3 года назад +2

      Ahh ok! I agree with that. This one is around 5% based on the free acid value anyway! I’m actually doing a collab with Dr V soon! Stay tuned

    I was really interested to hear your review. My son is 13 and has darker tan skin than I do and the uneven skin tone is apparent. He's been using belif, but as any 13 yo very inconsistent. I'm not sure if I should switch. The rice exfoliator, snow mushroom, and no fragrance are plus plus for me.

      It depends on what serum you’re talking about and what your skin needs. There are many kinds of serums. They’re usually applied first after cleansing

    • @Doctorly
      @Doctorly  3 года назад +18

      The key with sunscreen is to find one that you’ll wear every single day. So it’s really trial and error. My only requirements is that it’s a minimum of SPF 30 and broad spectrum. I like the EltaMD UV clear, the ceraVe hydrating sunscreen with sheer tint, the Purito Unscented Centella sunscreen, the supergoop unseen sunscreen, and the farmacy green defense

    I don't get this: you say the cleanser has no fragrance, but the fruit acids in it can contain limonene and linalool? Limonene and linalool are fragrance ingredients. Btw I'm asking because of a fragrance allergy, and so I have to stay away from those things, even when a product says 'fragrance free'. It happens too often that 'fragrance free' doesn't mean it doesn't contain fragrance.
