If only they could make a terminator movie like this again dark and serious no comedy put in there so far only the first film has been that way.
Funny how the Game and by the looks of it this animated show get what most fans actually want from a Terminator film. And it ain't a Marvel film with robots.
in fairness to T2 its moments of levity are earned through the situations and dont undercut the action or the drama. maybe one moment in there feels out of place its at the end when the T800 all beat up and having freshly defeated the T1000 says “i need a vacation” it was his least prompted line and isnt set up in any way. “hasta la vista baby” is at least seeded earlier.
The first movie had comedy....
Sarah Connor acted like she was going to throw a bag of homemade bombs add Kyle and they both laughed and giggled.... What a funny sweet moment😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m so swear I’m so down for this shit right here tho
No disrespect tho the first film sold the shit out of me tho 😂😂
The average person might not have guns in Japan, but you really believe the Yakuza only deals drugs, and traffic humans using swords? Get real.
😂 4 real
people in the criminal underground can get a hold of anything via illegal methods. I think he was referin to the average citizen. Outside of the US, other countries dont have gun stores at just about every corner and its actually a rarity in most other countries (that arent third world) that citizens just walk around with firearms. Take for example The Walking Dead...since the story takes place in the US, it's natural that survivors stumble upon firearms and ammunition at just about every location. If the show was located in any other for example European country, stumbling upon a firearm would be a rarity. People would need to fight back with melee weapons or other makeshift weapons.
I walked into a bar and asked a member of the Yakuza I had some problems before I knew I felt like I was talking to Nino Brown. The man asked to clarify small problems showing pistols on one wall or big problems showing another wall of machine guns and rocket launches. Either way he had what I needed.
Clearly never been to Japan 🤣😂
@@boris1387 don't need to go to Japan to realize making something illegal will never stop criminals from gaining access if they want. Taking away civilian rights does nothing. Criminals always find a way. It's what they do. Yakuza use guns. African warlords in rual areas use guns. They love them some Ak's. Drugs are illegal yet they still flood borders, people are still addicted, judges are still convicting people on drug charges, it hasn't stopped nothing. Yes parts of the world outside of U.S. are very strict on gun laws. Doesn't stop criminals from getting them. Illegal trades exist for a reason, to get around laws. And criminals are the only ones doing it. So how does taking away a civilians rights to bare arms help ???? Good people follow gun laws and use them for protection.
Why can't they make a series focused in the future war? Im so fucking tired of the time travel setting.... Its been done to death! My excitement has died here, i might still watch this but my expectations are low..
After Genesis and Dark Fate, whose expectations would be high.
For real that’s the coolest part and we only get glimpses.
I got really excited because I heard "anime" and thought "finally something with a hope of being well written". Then it said "american writer" and I just groaned. Worst of all, its a writer who knows nothing about the setting he is writing about. This just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I hope he was hired because of his talent and not because he's a Netflix writer.
Tell me about it.
You: 😭
I enjoyed Terminator Salvation it was really good imo and it is much entertainment and better than modern Hollywood garbage movies
Yeah, finally someone else besides me, that liked Salvation! 👍👍
Agreed. It at least did something different to move the story forward rather than repeat the same thing like all the other sequels did.
I didn't think it was great overall but it gets points for taking a stab at the future war rather than recycling the first two movies over and over like the others
Salvation was a pretty average movie. Had some cool moments but overall it was nowhere near as good as it should've been. McG seemed to actually try but he just failed unfortunately. Even Christian Bale lamented how it turned out.
It really wasn't very good, IMO. Was also the start of the sequels screwing up how John and Kyle met, for no good reason.
This might be just the thing to breathe new life into the Terminator franchise. For the first time in a long time I'm optimistic about the future of hard 80's science fiction (which has always been my favorite kind of scifi)
Really loving it so far. The lack of Schwarzenegger and the Connors combined with the art style give me vibes of the original Dark Horse comics I read as a kid.
Sounds like a copy of the Terminator 1 and 2 plot honestly. I don't want another Terminator entry set in the past before the war. I was hoping that the anime would deal with the future war.
Same. All my excitement just died as realized its just another bloody rehash with the same beats as T2, like literally all the Terminator movies after it, except Salvation.
It isn't related to the Connor family at so it's acompletly new and oridginal story
@@bedfordshiremodeller4491What does that have to do with the complaint here?
maybe in a sequel?
@@Largentina. Nothing and do you hear me complaing about and animated Terminator TV series?
Im super hyped about this. We need more terminator movies / series that extends the lore, not clamping to tired old characters.
I hope one day the Aliens franchise gets an action anime adaptation as well
The artwork looks great! Also, glad we're getting a Terminator going after different target as they established long ago that Connor wasn't the only one, so there are plenty room for more stories.
In the absence of firearms and explosives, a T-800 Terminator would have the capability to locate a machine shop and begin producing firearms and explosives in sort order. I hope they take this into consideration and provide some sort of story urgency to forego that obvious strategy. Likewise as an Infiltrator in Japan, a Terminator would not have to begin a bloody rampage.. They would go Ninja and Stealth Kill.
Interesting perspective.
I also like that they're going away from the Connors.
T3 kinda went there with the T-X having a list of targets and objectives aside from John.
That sounds and looks absolutely amazing. Being on Netflix is a red flag however Blood of Zeus and Blue eyed samurai were in Netflix so all hope is not lost
Not without at least JOHN Connor in it - Stop trying to sell us 'dark fate' with ANOTHER, INCARNATION of that.
Ur forgetting cyberpunk 2077 anime
The studio's just putting up the money. 'Cyberpunk' was awful, yet 'Castelfvania' was great. Both are on Netflix. Just like few people liked 'Rings Of Power' on Amazon, yet 'Fallout' was legitimately good.
What matters is the writing of the individual project's production team.
@@Xenomorphine cyberpunk was awful…. Lmaooo that’s one of the best jokes I heard all year big dawg.
@@Xenomorphine Most of those things were garbage. Sometimes barely 'Good' and certainly not 'Great.'
They might be giving us the Future War!! This kind of sounds like a terminator book series that starts just before Judgement day and follows them through the beginnings of the future war. I’m definitely gonna give this a watch
It wouldn't stop a terminator but I have a loaded 45 on my hip while I'm driving and watching this video.Guess what country i'm from
Japan😂😂😂
Releases on August 29th, the same day SKYNET became self-aware. I see wht they did here...& it's awesome
Arnold’s model should show up at some point in the series
will the terminator not like being misautomated or something, "Do not assume my mission or model"
That is why Skynet went rogue - computer scientists mis-coded it.
IEDs are the only thing proven to Take a terminator out, if you can explode it, you can blow it in half.
I’d be real curious with crispr and supersoldiers what a genetically superior soldier could do to a terminator and since there are so many timelines what if in one, we made a genetic menace to fight the terminators worse than machines…
If we are to assume the future war is a global event, and Tech-Com were just one (though obviously crucial) part of it, all of that could exist within the same timeline.
What countermeasures were other resistance cells working on during that time, and what was Skynet doing to deal with them?
It's untapped potential, and a serious shame.
@@Uzarran thank you, and the biggest failing is the lack of science fiction writers involvement and the pivot to brainless action.
I was watching a video on RUclips about Chinese soldiers designed by crispr tech and thinking damn; that would give a terminator a run for its money.
This anime looks promising, I hope all movies veer away from big budget cartoony spectacle…back to writing, but I’m not hopeful lol
In essence: MD Geist, look it up. 😂
Closest that they have to modified humans that can take on Terminator was Marcus in Salvation when he was augmented with terminator part’s replacing his body or also included the girl on Dark Fate , it would have to be something like that if the resistance takes over Skynet research development facility since it’s unlikely there would be enough resources or laboratories or even scientists or genetic engineers left alive in the future after judgement day that could use genetic engineering to create a new life form , or use gene augmentation on existing ones
I felt that when Mr. H said "That sounds fuckin sick". Lol
I'm not getting any hopes up, but I will check it out. If it's good, awesome! If it sucks then it's what I expected.
Anime does good job with their characters i really liked Onimusha games and anime
If we see T-800s or other cyborg Terminators, start whipping out Mantis blades from Cyberpunk 2077. I'm gonna scream
The series really forgot what was the cool thing about The Terminator, and that was ...'The Terminator' as in the T-800 covered in living flesh. After the T-1000 in T2 the film makers that followed Cameron thought they needed to constantly 'out-do' the last killer cyborg with a super-dooper even more advanced robot which just got boring. This looks like its actually about the T-800s and Skynet.
I'm cautiously optimistic.😂
The art style of the Anime reminds me of X-Men 97 and all we need now is a Robocop Anime and a Robocop vs Terminator Movie🤖
I've heard good things about X-men 97 TV series
Im cautiously optimistic. This new direction could either go really well or fail catastrophically.
I mean, the first and best part of Terminator was also working with improvised explosives.
Knowing chemistry and having access to several basic ingredients can also help if arms are not available.
Terminator show by production ig? That should b a dream come true. Who could by better suited for that than the studio behind ghost in the shell and appleseed?
If netflix fucks this up, i hope someone is building a real skynet to end our misery.
Keep in mind, the fact it's on Netflix is a bit of a hit and miss thing, but keep in mind, they've released some good animes. I mean Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a good example of a good anime (and that's because of the studio working on it focusing on the story and characters), and it ended up giving Cyberpunk 2077 a much needed boost. Honestly, if I were doing an animated Terminator story, I'd adapt the Dark Horse Comics' story, but not just ANY Terminator story: RoboCop vs. The Terminator (seriously, that'd be begging for an animated adaptation). But, that's just me of course. Netflix has had it's share of misses. But when they have a hit, it's at least good.
I had my heart set on a Terminator-Kaiju, but I guess I can wait until a future season for that.
All other modern entertainment may leave a lot to be desired, but when it comes to adult animation there is cause for optimism.
To be fair, Netflix hosts the 'Bastard!' anime, which is extremely based as far as animes go (All magic spells are given heavy metal band names!). While not as based as the manga, the anime does a great job at keeping a lot of the fun stuff...and I am looking forwards to next series, as Sexy angels :3
Only thing that has me worried is that they aren't skipping the rest of canon after T2... and seems like Legion is back, i know little about it though so who knows.
I'm glad that Production IG isn't doing the 3D CGI that they did for GitS SAC 2045. I watched it, it was fine, but the animation always bugged me. It could've been an awesome game. Terminator Zero does seem interesting. It's been on my mind for a while that they should go back to it being a man versus a machine instead of repeating a reprogrammed Terminator versus a more advanced Terminator. It gets old. Same with the Connors. With the premise of time travel, you can have other people in the past who could be important figures in the future, you don't have to rely on the Connors. Like you were saying, they should just do a movie in the future war, or an anime like this. Damn I can imagine how beautiful it would be if Production IG did a Terminator future war movie with this animation.
Aliens anime next. Personally I'd love to see a Terminator 1 adaptation. But with anime Arnie doing various brutal deaths, literally destroying everyone in his path.
Why did it take so long for a terminator anime? its a perfect universe for it.
Yeah too bad this wasn't made by Production IG during the 90s. Would've been peak and hand drawn anime
@@AvatarJianTrue as their was amassive 11yr gap after T2 judgement Day. But Arnie/Furlong had just finished filming their scenes for the 30minute theme ride T2 battle across time
@bedfordshiremodeller4491 serious question what relevance does this have to do with my comment?
@@AvatarJian I'm just trying to prove apoint is all
@bedfordshiremodeller4491 what point are you trying to prove?
I am look forward seeing Terminator Amine show named Terminator Zero.
I didn't think this was going to be released.
It's been in development forra fairwhile now
It would be a Red Flag if it was to be on Disney
Judgment day started in August 29th 1997
If they setup this series with a great story in this universe with new characters, damn I’m all for it. I can’t wait for this.
Just noticed an easter egg with that release date, august 29 is judgement day in the terminator lore
I'm fan of Terminator I can't wait see new tv show Anime Terminator Zero in Netflix
They did a weird anime movie a long time ago that had aTerminator like character in it. It's called Black Lion.
I'm some what excited for this if not just to watch an anime style story in the same universe. I think guns should be in but sparingly but the Terminator to add more horror that it will kill at all cost. And maybe having the characters not know it's a robot would good to add terror until the realized it's a cyborg and add even more terror and disbelief.
There isn't any reason Skynet wouldn't use ranged firepower.
Terminator has always had a lot of potential if they didn't try to one up T2 and go into different directions or if they go back to full horror, simple T-800 and all going after someone
Finally, a story i am actually excited to see from the terminator franchise. No guns and back to horror is going to be really interesting!!
A Terminator anime, huh? I've never heard of this before, how interesting...
I truly believe that not even James Cameron understands the Terminator franchise written by Harlan Ellison. It's a story about machines becoming smart and humans overcoming that. It doesn't make sense all Terminators look like Schwarzenegger. They were supposed to be infiltration units. The metal skeletons have to be just as agile as the human form and most of all, these are thrillers not action films for Christ sake. I hope they give us an intelligent John Connor, a real reason why the machines want to eradicate humans, they have to make Terminators as indestructible as Robocop, but not as powerful as T1000s. They ought to go back to the basic models and make the pieces fit, stop making stronger models every time. TBH in the hands of Netflix I don't expect anything good.
I have hopes, I have doubts..but wow the aesthetic of this looks BEAUTIFUL! nice old school anime look to it. 💜
I want to see Alien/Predator Anime in the same style as the 80's Animation but more modern.
I was born in 1980 nothing had a bigger impact on me then Terminator ( I take terminator over any Superhero as a kid), I've been disappointed for so long Im hoping this turns out great along with the new terminator survival video game.
That's the important part terminator is a sci fi but it's also horror . Which terminator 1 and 2 embraced so well under the direction of James Cameron. after that terminator movies ended up being just action . Unfortunately the same was with the alien movies, alien and aliens were pure horror and terror . This anime series could be good
This new Rerminator animated series series sounds good.
Most of us love our guns here not all but most
Give us Robocop vs Terminator for gawd sake!
Been saying they need to go back to horror for ages this sounds great.
That terminator looks like a boomer from bubblegum crisis. I hope they continue the series in all its 80’s glory since they used the song in the scott pilgrim anime
Not sure if you've seen Love Death & Robots but that's on Netflix and it's absolutely fantastic. I could see this being very good. Netflix will every now and then pump out a gem. I've got a good feeling about this one
If they can pull this off, bring back The Matrix. Those animated films were pure nightmare fuel(in a good way)
I loved T1, T2, T3 and Salvation. Hopefully it’s good
Terminator Anime!!! I'm so in for this. 👏💀☠️🤖
At some point you think they focus on events during the future war. The time travel thing and all the paradoxes have been run into the ground
I hope Arnold comes back as the voice.
This sounds cool netflix anime recently has been pretty cool
the animation does look great, so I am intrigued to check this out.
It sounds like a good start. It would be interesting to perhaps follow a group before Judgement Day and then The Day After before the war. As others have said, it's kind of been done to death the Savior from the Future or the Terminator as a kids Pet. Also though Japan has no guns it isn't like they really do a whole lot of good against a T-800 anyway.
Yeah looking forward to it
Im so hyped for this im totally with you on this one
American Netflix has some amazing anime some of my favorites actually.
Delicious in Dungeon
Dorohedoro
PLUTO
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Mononoke
Baki the Grappler
Cyberpunk 2077
Junji Ito Collection
Im prolly forgetting many but these are my favorites
Some shows are pretty bad but have a cult following... for some reason..However they aren't even actually anime..ie: Blood of Zeus, Castlesvania, Blue Eye Samurai, Arcane, Dragons Dogma, DOTA... these are super cliche and offer basically nothing we haven't already seen play out in better shows 100 times over. They seem to rely solely on fans of the source material.
.. Just because Japan as a general rule is widely disarmed does not mean *SkyNet* does or *should* follow those rules. Post D-day even in the States, terminator units frequently were using significantly more advanced weaponry than was available to not only the general populace, but the military of the time.
A part of me hopes that, if they showcase the apocalyptic future of Japan vs SkyNet, they show them to be in even more dire straits than the States due to the lack of that scrappy emergency stash of guns, and are even more on the backfoot, perhaps show a more developed SkyNet that isn't still actively purging dissidents and has had the luxury of resources to spend advancing their technology and manufacturing to give us a glimpse as to its ultimate goal, despite the focus of the story being the time travel plot (presumably).
Sweet mother of god those are the photos I saw about yesterday.
If it's got Terminator in the title, I'm gonna be there no matter what anyways. But this certainly seems genuinely promising!
Premiering on the 29th of August which is Judgment Day. Pretty nice nod!
Looks good man, they should have taken the anime direction after terminator 2 ❤
This sounds monumental!!! Idea of it set in Japan 👍🏻 GITS team👍🏻No Conners👍🏻 sign me up👌👍🏻👍🏻
I'm looking forward to this, to be honest.
There's a new Berserk anime coming out. I believe a trailer was released last week.
Looks lovely. The writing, however, will be the key.
this does look good really hope it delivers
Anime, Production IG, Terminator, sounds great. Netflix, hard pass. I don't fund people that hate me.
I’m liking everything I’m hearing and seeing
Looking forward to seeing the new show
Me 2
Only if it wasnt on Netflix, would be neat Future Only War too
Terminator zero? I'll look forward to this, thanks.
Deffo be watching this i remember ages ago Mr H you were talking about this TV series that was coming out, keep the good vids coming💯👍Fist Of The North Star is a very good Anime.
Cool. I'm excited to see it. Have you seen the Nick Cage film the Arkadian? I really liked it.
I’m hoping this is a Cyberpunk Edgerunner where they still had Japanese writers involved instead of western writers.
They should ignore T3 and the others... and follow the alternative future. With John.
I'm not sure I'll be able to suspend enough belief to believe a human soldier (non-mutant, non-enhanced, non-augmented, etc) would be able to go hand to hand w/ swords with any model of terminator. If they're resistant to gunfire, unless the soldier that travels back to assist the present day scientist character brings a lightsaber, they're effectively boned... until they remember pipe bombs Reese style I guess.
I’m also getting a little bit of GITS from the stills. Not that it’s a bad thing, I’m a big fan of the movies/series. This is looking great but it’s just too bad it’s on Netflix.
Tokyo of the 90s. That´s good because that´s during Terminator2 which is the "timeline iteration" most fans are interested in.
Every movie, as a continuation rewrites/reboots the franchise's timeline, up to the point where you have no Connor, T800 and Skynet left.
This franchise has always been a convoluted fuckup. So without neglecting every bad sequel, this is a good decision.
One more thing Katanas are cool, but fighting a Terminator with a blade is retarded!
If you watch a lot of anime, the backgrounds are often photorealistic, with somewhat more cartoony characters in the foreground. So I'd expect the scenery to look good.
As for weapons, you'd want something that attacks metals (such as strong acids) or electronics (EMP?). This sounds like it will be good as long as they avoid going woke.
While they may not have real guns in Japan for people who follow the rules, there IS a replica culture there. IE - fake gun models. Also, there may be airsoft, but I'm not certain on that. If anyone had a gun, it would be a criminal who brought it in from over seas somehow, or restored a WWII collectible to function. But, those would be RARE.
Edit: It would have been fun to see a moment where someone finds a replica gun in a car or something, only to quickly realize it doesn't work, even if they could figure out how to work the real version.
Terminator Samurai!
Knives and stabbing weapons then?
As for shooting the Terminator - that did not work anyway, Kyle and Sarah used pipe bombs against it.
Oh WOW a terminator anime … oh netflix. Nevermind.
This might be the right move for this franchise. Sad the only movie that was somewhat in the future was Salvation which I liked and I thought after that they should just do the war in the future but then they went backwards again and went downhill
It looks and sounds promising.🤞
