I live by and tell my kids that a job worth doing is worth doing right. Meaning, if you’re doing something do it right and to the best of your ability. That said, I refuse to have a job that takes me away from my family. I’m not rich but we are mostly comfortable. I am not a slave to my job and it allows me freedom to never have to miss the important things. I understand that everyone is not as lucky though.
Quiet quitting is fantastic. Saved *my* sanity and improved the quality of my life overall. I've got it timed so slow, it'll coast me right to retirement. Once I realized that I was but a teeny, tiny cog in this giant wheezing contraption known as late-stage capitalism, I was mentally liberated. 8:44
Around 15 years ago I stopped going above and beyond for my employer because they don't recognize when their employees go above and beyond. So, mediocrity it is. I am fine being mediocre. I am much happier with my work life balance being mediocre. But my company still thinks I am a top performer. If my hard work did pay off, I would strive to do more.
@@SmokinFredd well, I hope you can understand where I’m coming from. I’m certainly not saying I’m perfect. Ive been there and know when it’s not worth it, especially when there are workers doing way less and get promoted. It really puts out your fire
@@PipePhilosophy1377 I totally get where you are coming from. I don't strive for mediocrity outside of my corporate job, but the rewards there are not worth the stress and effort to give my all. It leaves me feeling unfulfilled and resentful in the long run.

@@SmokeSnacks well, I’m not saying we have to be running wide open and perfect all the time. I just mean it seems the mindset in general is like, “ Uh whatever,Meh” but I know what you’re saying, I do as well. We cant think upon negative things all the time, otherwise we wouldn’t make it

@@PonderosaPiper well said! Thanks for watching
Great vid bro! My takeaway from this was "balance". Made great sense, and yes I did watch it all😊.
@@tamper-proof3703 thank you! Definitely right, balance is key to so many things in fact

It’s really funny in a sense that so many have went office space mode. But I do see to a degree why. It’s not worth stressing yourself to death over
Remember that speech in THE MATRIX that Agent Smith gives to Morpheus about humanity being akin to a virus? That was disturbingly resonant. 24:57
@@TheGentlemanScholar I vaguely remember that, I’ll have to rewatch. But I get the point. It really does hit home doesn’t it
Never heard of that phrase but i really enjoyed the video!
Coincidentally I made a similar video about missing time, I'd say what're the odds but evidently pretty good 😂
